Hi guys, I was watching one of my favourite movie again tonight; The Thing prequel. And I'm curious what is your favourite sci-fi/monster/alien like movie? My the most favourite alien/ monster movie is: Alien....The Thing prequel ( I think that they did a great job with The Thing:)...Predator...The Thing ( with K.Russel).... The War of Worlds...Men in Black...
I have a pretty good idea of where it is. It's just down there, in the basement....

Hmm... good question.... Well I like a lot of those Alien Resurrection genetic swimming drones. I love their design a lot and the smooth swim they have :). Others don't really pop up into my mind...maybe Dren from Splice. I like the realistic design she has, like that could be the result when you mix human and animal DNA.

This is my forum signature.

Predator is good, first time i saw it was when i was about 11, and when he took his mask off, i ran out the room lol. Also i thought the effects were good for an older film. I also love cloverfield for the way its filmed / eerie when the monster is about and realistic , Cloverfield was neither fully explained because it was directed by jj abrams... lindelofs mate from lost, and they love not telling answers.... I love Stephen King and his most memorable aliens book/film were probably "The Mist". The spider/crab things are quite impressive, but at the end there is ginormus thing, jaw dropped when i saw it. Also Stephen Kings "Dreamcatcher" about 4 boys who help a disabled boy(who is really an alien)(Duddits) from gettin beaten up. Duddits then gives each other different powers, for a future date(20-30 years later) when another alien race(Mr Grey) is trying to infect/rule Earth.

Ripley, could you bring us a pictures of them. There are many to chose. For me from ALIEN / PROMETHEUS universe, both are clear linked, so maybe the trilobite is just like Zerg Spire from the game StarCraft Universe.

Ripleys "baby" in Alien resurrection was pretty ick, scary, and impressive which i'd say constitutes a good monster like a really big ugly violently badly behaved toddler felt sorta sorry when it got flushed out the small window its wee sad face! :(

Yeah it was weird to feel sorry about something that monstrous lol The Trilobite in Prometheus was good when you can see it shaking with strength as it holds the Engineer down. The rape of the mouth is just wrong.

Call me old fashioned but I really love the original Xeno from Alien sculpted by Giger. The six fingers just creep me more than the 3 fingered ones from other movies. Original 1979 Xenomorph

first and foremost, the original Giger Alien is pretty much the apogee of film monsters. nothing else even comes close. Moving on...i really liked a lot of the designs in prometheus. Both the pressure suit and chair suit engineers were incredible. I love the sacrificial engineer and the last engineer on lv 223. just great stuff. trilobite is nice as well. Also, im really into a lot of the creatures from the X files. Considering the budgetary constraints, some amazing work was done on that show regarding creature designs. I like the original "the thing" too.

Agreed Shambs, 'The Host' creature is cool, I LOVE that film! The best creature design ever has to be Giger's Alien, it's menacing, mesmerising, elegant, scary & beautiful all at the same time! Then it has to be Rob Bottin's fantastic creations for 'The Thing', which are just an incredible alien gorefest & funny too! Think Norris's head leaving the room ~ "You gotta be f*****g kiddin me" ;-)

Well, the original Alien from the '79 flick has always scared me. The films is just eerie (the 'Dallas on the vent' scene still puts me nervous, even though I've memorized it). Another monster that has always caused quite an impact on me was Stan Winston's Kothoga creature for the '97 film 'The Relic': Very nasty and brutal!!! The dragons from the film Reign of Fire are quite nice also!! Awesome design: Should I also include creatures from the animal kingdom that made it to screen?? Then, I guess I have to mention the velocirraptors from 'Jurassic Park', the shark from 'Jaws', the spiders from 'Arachnophobia'....

I also love the giant ants from 'Them'. Considering it was made in 1954, the effects are pretty neat & the sound they made in the desert was so creepy! :-D

We have certainly come a LONG way with our Alien concept designs : )

Haha they look like they spent alot of time and money on those alien/monster costumes. I havent even seen "The Thing" but it looks scaaarey. I like the alien things in 'Critters' lol quite funny actually. Also the weird monster thing with eyes in his hands from Pans Labyrinth (Good film). http://splatter-shack.com/site/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Critters3_7.png http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Qa-wn60e4es/TQJQ6eJLC7I/AAAAAAAABEY/yszI513bqQI/s1600/pan-2.jpg

There are so many... But the Alien Xeno has to be the most iconic, to me anyway. While i love the Predators as far as a threat goes the Xeno and a Xeno Infestation is something really bad. But as a Weapon its flawed, its only use is drop onto a World and Watch it invest and take over that World, its basically like using a Nuke or a Disease that changes the population into Zombies etc..... But the most fearful has to be The Thing..... The Thing is simply the ultimate in terrifying and unstoppable Killing Machine/Organism. Suffice to say drop a 1000 Xenos or a Million on the USA would be bad... But just a single Thing outbreak and infection in a populated City like New Work would soon spread across the USA and the World. The Hidden and Unknown Horror. If any movie Monster Alien was to be real and a real threat i cant think of anything as terrifying as The Thing.
