My take on the goo outbreak

I was thinking about what could've started the outbreak or whatever the engineers were running from. I believe they did many experiments with the goo on different creatures and beings, and come across the facehuggers whilst experimenting. They're are different rooms in the pyramids for these experiments, each with four engineers working .So facehuggers/trilobite are made and attack the engineers, the 4th runs away, sounding an alarm and getting far away from the facehuggers and to the ship. He gets to the ship, other alarms start to rare up, so he jumps into the cryo deck hoping to escape a black goo nightmare. The 3 Other Engineers that have been infected/facehugged get into the other cryo decks trying to sly there way out but to no avail, as Deacons are born. The muriel with the Xenomorph on maybe shows an old ancient race that they're masters are trying to recreate and have now succeeded.... The Engineers to me seem like pawns doing a higher races deeds.

My theory was that these Engineers at some point either... 1) Came across the Xeno or Progenitor and either used it as a Weapon, or genetically manipulated it to create the Xeno. 2) Created the Xeno as one of their many experiments with the Goo. 3) Came across the Xeno or created it as above, but the Urns was a way of re-weaponizing the Xeno for a safer way to store, ship and deploy the Bio Weapon. But the movie has had some questions vaguely answered but the clues given after the Blu-Ray release seem to contradict what we see in the movie and especially the deleted scenes. Basically here is what we have.... Engineers have some Substance that they use to break down Genetic Material that then creates a substance that contains the DNA of the organism ingesting the Substance, this substance then when it comes into contact with a other life form breaks down this life form and imprints the DNA of the Organism who ingested the Original Substance into the DNA of any Organism the resulting substance comes into contact with. This is how Engineers seed life on Worlds in their own Image, for what purpose we dont know. Hints suggest for some agenda to create a race that can be used as a Host for the Substance in the Urns... this comes from the "To Create, sometimes on must first Destroy" quote But then why seed in the way they did to create a diverse range of life if they only intended to create a life form like themselves to be used for some Agenda? And why teach us and visit us, and why the "why did they create us, then change their minds" quote by Shaw? As far as the Urns go.... The inner ampules contain the same substance the Sacrificial Engineer had taken, This Substance when ingested breaks down the drinkers Genetic Material, which then creates a substance that carries their DNA that can then mutate what ever it comes into contact with into a Hybrid. The Urns contain a Oil like substance outside the Ampule that when it comes into contact with the inner Substance creates a new kind of substance that then spills out and mutates what ever lifeforms it comes into skin contact with or if this substance enters the respiratory system of a Organism. These Organisms then mutate into new Lifeforms that seem to evolve into keeping the original Organisms best Traits but more evolved and combine them with traits of the Xenomorph. Yep a lot of inconsistencies in the above, but thats basically the deal. LV 223...... The Engineers was planning to head to Earth with Ships carrying the Bio Weapon Urns but they suffered a Outbreak, one or more Urns got compromised and a Black Goo Outbreak infected a number of the Engineers. The Engineers then attempted to shut down and employ Quarantine fail safes on the outbreak but they could not control it... So the Engineers attempted to get somewhere in the Temple where they could contain the outbreak. It would appear that some of the Engineers may have then also been killed by what ever was created by the outbreak and some simply died from the outbreak or killed themselves to prevent such a outbreak. Thats basically what went down....

What room dld they try to contain it in? The big head room? What i wonder about is where are the dead xeno/deacons? Or did they go somewhere else? Also in the pile of dead Engineers some have holes in their head and also in the gut, classic signs of some double jaw action. I think there were trilobites and xeno/deacons, maybe the goo in different urns contain different dna. Some being xeno/deacon and some being trilobite/facehugger. Is it me or on the murel wall with the xeno on, it looks like a trilobite holding /behind the xeno.?? The other murel to me looks like an Engineer pulling eggs out of some tube thing..?..

"..The Engineers to me seem like pawns doing a higher races deeds..." I am in agreement with you there. There is another step up the Engineer chain that we have not seen. They are not gods but a link inchain leading to the gods..which are not gods at all. I sort of like your idea of 4 man groups but have a problem knowing what they do. Based on the Last Engineer getting away only one is needed to pilot the Juggernaut and he seems pretty independent. It sort of begs the question of how many crew members are actually needed to pilot the Prometheus. Getting back to the domes just how many Juggernauts are there to each pyramid? The pilled up dead Engineers maybe just for that particulad(first in line) bee hive. I want to know the situation for the other pyramids. After all that happens do you think the pups are still mapping ??

Maybe the last surviving Engineer didnt want the infection taken with him, he himself assumed he'd been infected in some way, so will sit out and wait for someone to awaken him. He does fly the ship with ease by himself, but i dont think there is a Engineer for every ship. As seen in the film the Engineer stays in cryosleep because there is no one to wake him up. So if the Engineers were to use there cryo beds they'd need one who's not in cryosleep. Abit like David does for the humans on the Prometheus. I do wonder what was in those other pyramids, but i think itll never be revealed. They didnt even explore the whole first pyramid . Do the pups have cameras on? Maybe back on earth at the Weyland corp, they get a feed and connect to the Prometheus cameras, and see the Deacon and think oooookaaaay we can use this, go there, the deacon cocoons them in a juggernaught, another Engineer from another pyramid, wakes up somehow, flys off with the cargo of eggs and gets facehugged, crashlands on some moon ;). bit of quicktime thinking lol

"..As seen in the film the Engineer stays in cryosleep because there is no one to wake him up,," If our crew had not come along the Last Engineer might still be dozing. Apparently there was no early watning system to wake the Last Engineer,,which in it's self raises questions as to what would arouse a sleeping Engineer considering all that our crew expereinced before the waking scene In our movie David was seemingly checking on the ship and occupants even reading dreams while the crew was in statis. Who or what was attending to the Engineer? Surely there must be some monitoring system somewhere feeding the info to someone that would activate him because aof threar,,or change in plans thyat needed him to take action. All of this raises the need for a higher lever of Engineers/Ctrators to really oversee this pyramid operation.

the pups detected the engineers pilot/hypersleep room but the door was shut hence the scene where david (who knows about this) finds the chamber with the pup hovering and mimicking a wimpering noise like a snifferdog at someones door. the lifeform signals in earlier scenes that kept coming and going may have been the engineer and either being in hypersleep (metabolic stasis) creates a weak signal or david may have been tampering with this function so as nobody beat him to the discovery, he was keeping secrets from vickers even presumeably at the caution of weyland

It was another creature of some kind, sneaking around either behind the door on the juggernaut or inside the tunnel.

Yeah i do believe the signals of the alive Engineer were read by the pups, but the signal was probably abit weak. I dont know why David cuts Vickers off, presumably it wouldn't matter what she saw, unless she was thinking for the corp. Weyland wants this mission to prolong his life, nothing else. I think David did it to piss her off mostly, hes like a kid. That is abit odd, who wakes up the Engineers in cryo? Maybe the pilot, whos has the spacesuit on is responsible for waking the others, maybe the spacesuit puts you in cryo too, but wakes you upon at destination/malfunctions. At the end when the juggernaught crashes, what happened to the goo? Surely it spilled?

yeah i wondered about that should have been all over the place unless the door to the orrerey was sealed and there was a second door? seems a bit risky to have that in the hold and no other route out unless the juggernaut is sort of a suicide/kamikaze pilot.......... im going to look again see if there are two entrances......

".. I dont know why David cuts Vickers off,.." THis is a curious scene. My thought is that somehow David sort of knew this was going to be the meeting of the Engineer's world and humanity. He wanted to prevent Vickers from seeing the future so to speak. Why? It is not clear when Weyland was waken and prepared to meet his gods. If Vickers (though she had been a doubter) could grasp there were alive Engineers and if they could grant(or help) her attain a form of immortality she would want it for herself. Since Vickers was in charge of the Mission what if she doesn't authorize the awakening of Weyland till after the Engineer/Human meeting? Then Weyland would just be a moot point with Vickers now really in power with the Engineer's co-operation, at least in her mind. Essentially what I am suggesting is that all of the events in the Orrery take place but without Weyland's involvement.

Yeah David switching her feed off is a vital moment. Imagine Weyland not there and not asking for immortality. David and Shaw would have maybe got some answers. It seemed to me the Engineer was reminded of something good that had or will turn bad, in David, I thought he was curious of Shaw too, but not Weyland, I think he thought nothing of him.

@DenzelTH "It seemed to me the Engineer was reminded of something good that had or will turn bad, in David, I thought he was curious of Shaw too" yeah he defo seems wistfull/thoughtful the way he almost pets his hair before ripping his head off and when Shaw starts shouting "why! why!" he genuinely looks like hes trying to work out what shes saying of course the word wai! in proto indo-european is an expression of woe (and though it may be reading more into the story than was intended) theoretically he would have at least known that she was seriously upset and appealing to him

Seemed like they was running towards that Room, we do not know if there was somewhere else they was running to that leads from that Room. In Lindelofs Draft some of them was running to the Tera-Forming Room to jump down that Well in order to kill themselves.

Yeah that probably is a secret door, but why didnt holloway just grab that green stone, see what happens? He was dissapointed about 5 minutes after they got in there, and he said he would do anything to get his answers... just grab it.

Yes even though Holloway was disappointed he was still in an alien room filled with artifacts, Why wasn't he more active in learning more about this civilization. If the Engineers are not Gods then they are a least a step closer to the Supreme Being than Holloway was. Holloway answers David's a question with the 'Anything and everything' statement after the exploding head scene which is very curious. While Ford/Shaw/David were evaluating the Engineer's head David was swilling booze offerring virtually nothing to the procedings. Why was he not doing 'anything and everything' before he answered David's question?
