What a laugh.... Apparently when I was a boy my mother took me to see Santa and I would not go to him because I found him really scary......

Seriously Albert, I felt the same way! Too intimidating! But better than Krampus!

Krampus is a beast-like creature from the folklore of Alpine countries thought to punish bad children during the Christmas season, in contrast with Saint Nicholas, who rewards nice ones with gifts. Krampus is said to capture particularly naughty children in his sack and carry them away to his lair.
Probably why Santa is a tad scary to children in general.

Ptometheus and the Holidays, I guess Janek was right. WE use holidays to mark the passing of time.
I hope Fifield, Millburn, Holloway and others enjoyed the Goo Gifts.
Serious I hope all site members celebrate the Holidays in good spirits..

That Krampus is way too spooky for me.
I need a trampolinist bear to cheer me up.

The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

@ Freeze! Krampus is indeed very scary. Is that Gene Simmons' tongue poking out?
Thank you Indy John. Enjoy the Christmas break....

".Da Bears!."
I didn't know the Bears were part of the Alien Universe.
Don't become despondent when your football team let's you down.
If you are a Cubs fan then you already know what it is like to experience heartbreak.
Maybe you can use some goo to inspire the team.
Yea I would like to see xenos strap on a helmet and play some football.

Hello guys the comic is really funny;)
More info for Krampus: I was born and raised in Czech Republic (one of the Alpine countries) and I know Krampus...we call "him" cert (devil). He visits families every year on November 24. He comes with the Mikulas (or Saint Nicholas) and with Andel (angel).
If the child behaves nicely during the whole year, Angel and Mikulas will reword him/her with some candies. If the child was bad the cert/Krampus will approache him/her, put him/her into his backpack, and takes him away...I was always scared of Krampus when I was a child, and believe me parents put a lot of effort to create spooky Krampus, many times close friends can help to play those characters :)
I have a pretty good idea of where it is. It's just down there, in the basement....

I was not familiar with the Krampus lore.
Did this affect any other Christmas related activities? Were there Christmas Trees and gift giving for example?
Yes I could imagine this would be quite scary for the younger folk.
I as a parent would also play it up just to get a kid's attention.

woooot! 'behave or the devil will grab you by the ears stuff you in a backpack' and "have his way with you" these days you'd go on a list for saying stuff like that to kids xD but hey traditions tradition
I LIKE WORMS! I LOVE WORMS!

Thanks Redhead Ripley, I was going to say that when I took German I learned it was Sant Nicholas that was responsible for punishing the kids unlike our Santa Claus. It makes more sense to split the labor so they can play good cop bad cop! Merry Chrismas to all Prometheus fans here!

I just had to look up some Krampus pics and I came across this little gang of Santa and his little crew of Krampus's. They look like a gang of Wokis
