MemberOvomorphDec-12-2012 6:00 PMSo an underlying theme in the ALIEN movies was Weyland Yutani knowing about and capturing the xenomorph to use to their own intentions
Now what if the Engineers got there first? What if the SJ was attempting to take them from whence they came, and came unstuck during transit.
What if the xeno existed as their own entity somewhere else, and as it happens we picked up the pieces of a failed mission?
Or...
It's some horrible tie in back to AvP where the eggs are actually from this Mayan esque underground pyramid and the SJ found them on one of his visits. So it all started in our back yard. Urgh

MemberOvomorphDec-12-2012 10:42 PMThis is a great question MVMN; one that has not been answered as yet. I am sure there are many fans like you and I who would like to see a movie where this question will be answered. I am hoping that at some point Sir Ridley Scott will take us on this journey of discovery.

MemberOvomorphDec-12-2012 7:03 PMI absolutely love that it could still go anyway. Hopefully not the AVP tie in route. That's what excites me most. We still don't know where the original genetics came from, if it's fossilized in the green crystal or not. If we'll see the original form.. But this definitely seems like a new form of the bio-weapon that the Engineers have manipulated. While the original life-cycle is depicted in their mural. So at some point it seems they definitely tried to harnass the power of the xenomorph, but like the company much later- they failed.
They were actually able to obtain or interact with the old form of the lifecycle depicted in the mural. But what they did to the genetics on LV-223 enhanced the bio-weapon and minaturized it into a nano-virus within the goo. An attempt to control it. Inevitably it led to their demise on LV-223 like the scientists in one of the unused alien 3 scripts who were working on it over Alaska.
In that one unused Alien 3 script the company did actually get the bio-weapon, tried to weaponize/miniaturize it, it got into the air, and there was a massive outbreak at Anchorage Station. Some of the humans turning into Aliens and the company representative in charge loosely resembling Vickers are interesting.
So the Engineers are first to mess around with the fire and get burnt in the timeline as it exists (unless you count AVP, which I don't at this point), but at one point they did want Weyland scientists to try to change the Alien to a more controllable form. There were multiple powers fighting for control of earth, like in some of the very early synopses we heard for Prometheus, something about 2 powers fighting for control of the Earth. I have a feeling those two powers are Weyland and Yutani and that info came from a time way before the Yutani elements were decided to not be included this film, appearing only in virals etc. So Weyland corp has tried to take the bioweapon and actually turn it into a more effective weapon in one of the many unused Alien 3 scripts. Not canon, but still it sets a precedent for what goes on in Prometheus. I think it can be compared to what the engineers are doing here. It fails of course and people start becoming Aliens. This is the one script with Hicks and Bishop running around, and Ripley in a coma for all of it. What I like is that newt got a good ending in that script, but lots of it would have had to be reworked to go with those ideas.
Suppose Hill and Giler gave Ridley some settings to work towards, would it be cool to see a united three world powers-Yutani controlled Anchorage station come under Engineer attack if we get back to Earth in the third movie? Basically Yutani controls the Earth now, Anchorage station used to be Weyland's (built over Alaska after he saved the environment in the timeline), and only Weyland corp/David really know the Engineers are on their way to Earth. They have to cooperate with Yutani, even though Yutani is overthrowing their crumbling Kingdom back on Earth. David and Weyland corp have a way to interact with them from Gateway station, where people are waiting for David to deliver. Gateway station becomes an actual gateway built on Jockey technology... The Engineers and the company have a quicker way back to Earth... but some time has still passed back on Earth. Yutani has taken advantage of the power vacuum created by Weyland's death. David wants to control and manipulate all the groups, and the alien bio-weapon..
Gateway Station and LV-426 in the sequel in addition to Paradise, where the Elders live. A gateway in between all the worlds they'll be visiting: hell (Hades and Tarturus, LV-426), heaven (Paradise), and back to Earth (Gaia).

MemberOvomorphDec-13-2012 5:21 AMThats funny Weyland and Yutani duking it out on earth for corporate control as in Alien 4 Resurection (my personal least favorite Alien movie) Walmart wound up winning the corporate fight on earth. Hey maybe Walmart can sell the xeno goo along with all that ammo they currently sell! lol

Our pyramid had an accident and their lifefiorm got sort of out of hand and disrupted the activities we speculate at this site.
Hmm I wonder if the Engineers have an internet site? They could sell captures or by products throughout the Universe.
Sort of Goo's-R-Us type of busness
