So.............. as SciFi Fans..... We have been lucky enough to have been introduced to plenty of cool Lifeforms over the years... Who or What were your best and worst Outer Space creatures? Alien and the thing are the best for me... The worst are possibly modern zombies
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids? They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

My favourite sc-fi characters would have to be Predator, because he is a dreadlock and mask wearing, laser shooting, invisible warrior, who keeps skulls as trophys. Also Arnold as Terminator, dont need to explain why i think. Xeno you are right modern zombies are poor, and I am legend...wtf But what film Alien disappointed me was War of the Worlds, i felt it needed to show more, and the Aliens werent believable, i still like the film, but i dislike when stuff is not explained in movies. Prometheus has done this also, but im patient because there will be a sequel.

The excellent: anything made by Wayne Barlowe. It's no coincidence he did concept art for Hellboy 1&2, Avatar, and Pacific Rim. Those things look like they are from another world, while also being plausible organisms. Apart from mile-high striders, but I'm won over by the visuals to grant him those. The good: Rygel from Farscape. Love, love, love that manipulative bastard. The way that puppet became an engaging character in the show is amazing. The bad: pretty much anything from Star Trek, sorry. I understand that tight TV budgets made things beyond pointy ears and ridged foreheads unaffordable, but come on. Yeah, I'm not too keen on rubberfaced humanoid aliens. Doctor Who at least does interestingly cheesy things with its lint money. The ugly: the Space Jockeys. Nah, I kid :)

Wayne Barlowe is incredible Blandcorporatio! [img]http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/ab43/OmegaZilla95/HellBoy/Sammaelhead34.png[/img] and I love Star Trek..but always get a giggle from the early creatures! Aye, I know :) Noticed you changed the image in your post, which used to be [img]http://craiggav.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/wayne-barlowe-header.jpg[/img] and imo shows off the versatility as well. But y'all, if you haven't done a google image search of his work, do so. It's worth it.

(apparently the img tag didn't take kindly to the "?w=640;h=385;crop=1;" part) Of course. Giger's an obvious choice for me as well :) I left the screenings of Prometheus that I attended chanting Giger! Giger!! GIGER!!1123 The moment when the Engineer launches for Earth gives me goosebumps even on reviewing. Nice set work.

I just finished watching 'The Giant Gila Monster' and the monster was a bad actor. My favorite SciFi creature would be Robby The Robot from 'Forbidden Planet' He has it all including a bit of humor.

Thanks for posting a few pix from the Gila Monster movie. It is not a classix SciFi movie bur did appeal to the Drive-In movie going set.(Are there Drive-in Movies outside of the USA?) Stay away from the original song being promoted in this flix as it sounds, well, alien. In looking over the pix here sometimes the cars look like toys. That can't be true can it?

Night of the Lepus This is one movie that I missed. Yes the film clip makes me want to avoid the movie at all costs. In checking the acting credits I see that Star Trek 'Bones' has a role in this movie. That doesn't help. It has been awhile but I think it was a TV movie rather than a theater release..

'The Trouble With Tribbles', awesome Trek episode! KIRK: How do they? How do they...? MCCOY: I haven’t figured that out yet, but I can tell you this much. Almost fifty percent of the creature’s metabolism is geared for reproduction. Do you know what you get if you feed a tribble too much? KIRK: A fat tribble. MCCOY: No. You get a bunch of hungry little tribbles. KIRK: Well, Bones, all I can suggest is you open up a maternity ward.

The best sci-fi creature is of course Alien, next The Thing (from 80s and the prequel from 2011), Predator I, the creature from Independent Day. The worst are mutants from Total Recall (women with 3 brests, the leader was attached to his brother's body-pretty cheesy), some aliens from Star Wars-but I still like these movies:o) ,Critters and creatures from Flash Gordon even though it is still good movie..
I have a pretty good idea of where it is. It's just down there, in the basement....

...and one of the best non-sci-fi creature are Vampires from the 30 Days of Night horror movie. I love that movie it's always gives me goose bumbs. I love the way D.Slade created those vampires; the way how they look, move, speak, and "consume" their prey :o) [img]http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/30300000/zurial-30-days-of-night-30307330-550-367.jpg[/img]

The Green Slime![img]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mpBGa4P5jUo/TUrWNGE1JgI/AAAAAAAAGTo/cUUAfxAwIis/s1600/greenslime9.jpg[/img] Sort of a precursor to Alien. I thought this movie was super cool as a kid. Also, I've said it before, but I love The Blob. First time I saw it I was 6 years old, on my grandmothers tv. It has 2 great scenes, the opener, when it takes the aged loner that finds the meteor. It's clear and gelatinous, and when he tries to flick it away it strikes out like a snake and adheres to him. Like muscular snot. This was NOT a guy in a rubber suit and it freaked the hell out of me. Later, the doctor tries to console a nurse that it has cornered. Classic. She tries to kill it with acid which of course does not work. The rest of the scene is told in shadows, and its highly effective. I have Blob nightmares to this day!
