I thought of it as a fun science fiction roller coaster ride!
I have also seen all the AVP series and enjoyed them :)
but... personally I dont include them as canon to Alien or Aliens...which for me are outstanding movies

I think its a camera flair that we hear so much about that directors and editors try so hard to avoid. Regarding the AVP movies, the first one is a guilty pleasure of mine and I don't accept it as cannon although it could fit fairly well within the cannon. The second one is not well made at all and just doesn't work on any level for me. I loved the proto-pyramid way beneath the Antarctic ice shelf. And Charles Bishop Weyland was a great character well played by Lance Henriksen (he always plays his parts well). The only thing I noticed that seemed kinda like they dropped the ball was the envelopes from Weyland Inc. The props looked like I made them on my own computer/printer using MS Office! I would expect much classier envelopes from a real multi-billion dollar corporation like Weyland, at least glossy!!

I loved Predator & enjoyed Predator 2 & Predators.
I just wish that the merging of the two had been done better. My main complaint has always been that the Aliens are portrayed as easily squashed large bugs!! o-O
