About the head in the Ampule Room...

yes the head statue in the ampule room,in this movie you see scenes with head are use very much engineer blow his head,engineer smash head of david and hit weyland with the head in head,deacon blow from the engineer with the head, and i think we humans are very smart and this is the central theme of the film!they put a head in the ampule to answer us that they want to destroy intelligence of human and make us crazy ,engineer think our intelligence possible destroy them !

i still think the head in the ampule room is a memorial over the first engineer we see in the movie, sacrificing his own life in order to create.

I like the thought claudius especially the part of why they want to do something to us possibly mutate or start over. I think it could be that militarized faction that could have a fear of human development. We would end up being just like them and it could interfere with them somehow. The Engineers split faction have two different agendas possibly in term of what they want to do to our species as a whole. The head idea is cool and kind of a hidden message within the movie linking it to the giant head in a way. David 8 as well because of his head being ripped from his body.

since i first saw images of the head - it reminded me of Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now https://analiseindiscreta.wordpress.com/tag/apocalypse-now/ - i kinda think Ridley Scott did this on purpose - a visual trigger for 'rogue god' perhaps?

The two faction idea in relation to the head symbol in the ampule room causes the head to take on a whole new meaning now. The monolithic head is in the room that is part of the bioweapons installation on LV223 and built by the bioweapons faction of the engineers. It must therefore be a representation of a hero of theirs or a deity perhaps. Since these were the ones that wanted to destroy us approx. 2000 years - around the time of Christ - this suggests that the bioweapons engineers are also proChristian and even though we would like to think of them as evil, they are apparently reacting to our crucifixion of their emissary, to follow the logical thread to its conclusion. This has profound implications and as I have stated elsewhere, Shaw is going to find herself in conflict with just this faction when she arrives on Paradise if they still exist, and they most likely do. Shaw also a Christian is going to really find herself in a quandary in this sequel. The space Jesus hypothesis has been around for many years and proponents of the Von Dannikenesque notion of ancient astronauts are the most vocal followers of this idea. Prometheus is of course also based upon the ancient astronauts, and refers to them as the engineers.

I do believe the head and murals are in reverence to a celebrated Engineer. Or, evidence of their transcendence, worship of themselves, for lack of a suitable diety.

If the Xeno came from the Engineer, then maybe the head is of the Engineer who first bore the Xeno in the Mural?

Or the one who caught it. Or mastered its DNA. Or weaponized it. I like to think the Black Goo is the result of their fiddling with some beast they captured, the natural Xeno? The Eggs were the first method of delivery, later refined into ampules. Perhaps the first humans were conceived on LV223, mini Engineers to test their ideas. Then they got a new idea...
