MemberOvomorphMar-04-2013 1:32 AMIm hoping the Engineers are going to have weapons but maybe they're bio-weapons that are like a handgun or a blade of somekind. Im also kind of wondering if maybe a Engineer and a Deacon Alien get into a small battle between them. Definitely NO AVP type of fight though, just small punches and throw type of thing. Its possible that the Aliens are much stronger in terms of holding on to you and their speed is a factor and so is the damage that they inflict upon the victims. After all it has tremendous instincts to breed and to survive. Its hard to figure out what their strength is exactly.

MemberOvomorphMar-04-2013 5:00 AMif aliens CM is anything to go by, the engineers do have weaponary(regarding spacejockey scene where if you shoot the space jockeys head it plays a hologram of two engineers ships attacking each other). probably canon, but i did like it.

MemberOvomorphFeb-28-2013 7:31 AMmy opinion is that engineer will crush xenomorph because i think for them was made the full bio-suit with strong power,to defeat against alien creature i not see another use, and this answer that the engineer not run from xenomorph in the hologram activate by david!!! and them appear the question what strong are trilobite its very huge power????and i thing that the deacon will crush engineer in full bio-suit

If the engineer wears his full biosuit and can hold the tail at his tip in one hand and keep his jaw away with the other then he can prevent being killed by the xenomorph . But still leaves the xenomorph 's hands /claws free . I guess the engineer must strike quickly and powerfully to kill it otherwise he mighty have to get some damage in the process.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-28-2013 1:57 PMI love the Engineers, but I would have to say that my money is on the Xenomorph. I say this only because the Engineer may be able to rip the Xeno's head off, but the acid blood is going to be a factor. The Engineer's bio suit did not stand up to the chest burster in the original Alien, so we then have to worry about how it would stand up against that tail, too!

MemberChestbursterFeb-28-2013 5:34 PMIn reality the, the engineer just might beat the xenomorph pretty good, but there is a pretty significant though of mine that agrees that the xenomorph would win. it would use it's stealth and power to defeat the engineer. the xenomorph would be smart enough not to just go head to head stright up vs. an engineer

MemberOvomorphMar-01-2013 2:21 AMDepends on the incarnation of the Xeno. I'd rather they'd stick with "Kane's Son" aka the Xeno from ALIEN. None of the bug-like Cameron Xeno.
I believe that particular Xeno would most likely win.

AdminEngineerMar-03-2013 1:45 AMI didn't mention in the start of this topic, since it wasn't in the film it can't be considered, but in Jon Spaihts' original script, Alien: Engineers, the Engineer which David wakes up actually kills two Xenomorphs I believe. At least one I know for sure. Anyways, the Engineer is described as in his full Bio-Suit, and he grabs the Xeno and rips it in half. It would make for an epic scene in a later sequel, but yeah apparently the Engineer would in fact win against a Xenomorph. But until we see it happen on the big screen, it's still up in the air and debatable.
I can't recall if Spaihts' original script mentioned if the Bio-Suit was acid resistant. It's possible. The Alien which burst out of the Jockey, which we see in Alien didn't necessarily use Acid, it burst from inside. Also I doubt that Alien was the same kind of Xenomorph we saw in Alien. I imagine it was more like the Deacon, and grew up to be much larger. The mystery about what happened to that Alien would be an interesting one to explore also.

MemberOvomorphMar-03-2013 2:29 AMIf it was a hand to hand fight i would say the alien, due to the number of weapons its got (tail, jaws and claws). Maybe the engineer is stronger than the xeno, they seem pretty powerful, yeah i agree acid for blood would be a factor.Do the engineers have any weapons?
If the engineers could beat a xeno in a hand to hand fight, why were they running away in the passage way?

MemberOvomorphMar-06-2013 1:45 PMengineers had guns in the comics.
in a hand to hand fight?
if the alien sneak on the engineer he is doooooomed
from the front i would say the engineer (but are his punches strong enough to hurt the thick exoskeleton?)
Anunnaki50
MemberOvomorphMar-06-2013 11:00 PMThats a very good question Ricky because so far the creatures can take several bullets without really slowing them down. The Marines have the only thing that will kill em' like the pulse rifle and smart gun. I hope they come out with a game thats like AVP but with more playable characters and species to play with.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2013 3:39 AMI think that the Xenomorph would most definitely win a brawl against an Engineer. Yes, the Engineer has brutal strength (shown in the film when he awoke from his sleeping chamber and threw the people around) but the Xenomorph is so stealthy. Head on combat, the Xeno would be able to move swiftly and avoid direct hits from the Engineer and eventually end up getting on the Engineer's back and take it from there. The Xeno has several bio-mechanical weapons (tail, claws, fangs, projectile tongue, acid blood) but in your topic, the Engineer only has his full bio-suit. Throughout the film, I didn't see any sort of alien-like weapons... So I'm just assuming the bio-suit is the only thing the Engineer has so Xeno wins.

MemberOvomorphApr-21-2013 10:27 AMwe have the answer right in front of us: the heap of dead Engineers, thrown together like garbage or thrash in our cities ... whatever or whoever tossed these dead Engineers, one after the other, says they had no problem with them.
symbolically the image speaks of power beyond that of the Engineers.
secondly, the hologram we see in Promtheus also shows Engineers running for their life down a deadend tunnel. it's their vessel, so why don't they know this tunnel has no exit?
third. who or whatever ripped the head off a fully-dressed Engineer? (the head Dr. Shaw & co. take into the Prometheus for their "high-tech" analysis. it blows up in their faces ). Not someone weaker than than the Engineer who severs his head so easily.
fourth: not on LV-426 or on LV-223, not on any of the Engineer vessels did the Engineers get the upper hand. Both gunners were facehugged and died. Conclusion: Engineers can't even stave off facehuggers.
fifth: in close combat with the Squid (Tribolite) the Engineer loses badly.
sixth: the Engineer knew where Dr. Shaw was, but not that a massive Squid was hiding behind the door. Strange since he came from the outside to the shuttle.
not a very reassuring series of losses in the vis-a-vis confrontation of Engineer vs. Morph. strange too, that in all these conflicts the Engineers seem to have no weapons that neutralize danger at a distance.

MemberOvomorphApr-22-2013 4:01 PMFor any and all who have been fans of the francise for an extended peiriod probably have read the books and comics. I have read alot of the posts that say that they think the xeno will win only if its born from a engineer. I tend to disagree, in the alien 3 book the face hugger that got into the cryo tube with ripley only used its strength to pry open the chamber and the acid mark was the product of it being injured in the process. The book discribed the cryo chamber as being as strong as the ships hull. If thats the strength a human born xeno face hugger can produce imagine what the fully grown drones can do. When you spuish a bug do you use all your strength to do so. Seeing how their intent in the other movies were not to kill but to bring hosts i would say they were not using their full strength. Now life or death fight or flight i would say the engineer has a snow balls chance in a valcano.

MemberOvomorphJun-13-2013 4:34 AMThe engineer would have a hard time, but strength isn't the problem. It's a question of doding the tail or the head-strikes of the xeno while fighting it. The engineer would want to have at least a club like weapon, and then he could confidently prevail.

MemberDeaconJun-13-2013 10:39 AMWell its a difficult one...
And one problem is the inconsistencies with the Engineer size from original Alien idea (26ft) that was actually 15ft..... To Prometheus Spaights Idea of 12-15ft, to Lindeloffs 9-12ft and ultimately the movies 8ft lol
I am going to take the Average route and use the Space Jockey suits in the tunnel before the Orrey/Control Room as reference and that points to the idea that the Engineer are 10ft tall when in Space Jockey suits.
Take into account how easy they can throw Humans around and virtue that on the outside the Engineers suits can sustain more damage than a Xeno Exo Skeleton and i think the Xeno would not be the Stronger of the two.
I also think the Xeno would have trouble damaging a Engineer suited... unless they use their tail to good effect and mainly their inner jaws.
I would assume that any Xeno Acid would be able to burn through the Engineer suits but who knows how easy.
Saying that from the inside the suits appear to be weaker, this is evident by the Deacon Chest Buster and what ever Chest Busted the other Engineers in the Cryo Chamber and on the Derelict.
Unless off course the Mercenary Weapon was just a Glorified Paint Ball Gun lol..
I guess it comes down to like a fight between a Strong Man and a Medium sized big Cat like Mountain Lion.
The Human being stronger, and able to sustain more punishment but the Cat having the Penetration and ability to cause severe wounds due to Sharp Teeth and Claws...
This would mean that the Engineer would have to use his dexterity and strength to get the Xeno pinned down and break its Neck or Spine, while avoiding its tail and jaws...
Unless off course the Engineers have Weapons....
As lets face it Hand to Hand and no weapons a Xeno would beat a Predator and one has to assume it would likewise do the same with a Engineer....
So my verdict..... Hand to Hand would be most likely Xeno, unless Engineer can counter the Xenos speed and break its neck and spine or pull its head off without getting splashed by Acid.

MemberOvomorphJun-13-2013 11:13 AMWell, I think the predators are probably stronger than the engineers. Maybe not if they're 10', but even then I'm only at maybe. I have answered a question like this before, and I think the predator would whoop a xeno hand to hand, no question. The predators in AVP weren't made too tough because the makers of the movie didn't want to offend fans of either species, but seriously, a xeno is like a big cat as you say, and the predator is an ultimate killing machine.

MemberPraetorianNov-26-2013 12:05 AMThe only reason why the xenomorphs were made OP in AVP is because Paul Dumb shit Anderson was in favor of the Xenomorphs, that aside we do not know the full power of the Engineer's technology capability, Since the Engineers created the Xenomorphs i think they would have anti-xeno weapons, and also back to the predator topic Engineers are taller than Predators. Predators tend to be 7 ft tall, Super Predators are 8ft, while engineers are 9 ft. I theorise the Engineers might have a way to control xenomorphs perhaps in the form of a flute, well they used to anyways before they evolved to ignore the engineer's signal. But back to Xeno weapons... In the canonical alien series the only xenomorphs that use their tails was the Queen, becuase the Kane's Son didnt use his tail neither did Cameron's Xenos except for the Queen, the Dogalien didnt use its tail and neither did the Genetic Xenos from Rez. Only from the non-canon AVP did non-queen xenos use their tails

MemberDeaconNov-26-2013 6:29 PMAnyway i did a image before to show how the Engineers was intended and indeed how they actually appeared as compared to David.
So i did another one and edit of that image in OP...
Now the Xeno stands between 7ft and 8ft tall on average they are about 7.5ft tall... The movies show us they vary to be from 7ft odd to near 8ft.
The Alien one was about 7.5ft
So i have scaled the Xeno to be 7.5ft in comparison to the average height the Engineer Appeared this was both taken from the Last and Ghost Engineers compared to Human Crew and again we are looking at 7.5ft tall.... when they was intended to be 9-10ft.
Now the Larger Engineer in the image bellow shows how big a actual 9.5ft Tall Engineer would be compared to the 7.5ft Xeno...
Now based on that, i would say the Engineers would win.... but based on size we actually got in Prometheus then basically the Engineer would only fair a little better than a unarmed Predator and well we know how that ends up.

MemberNeomorphNov-26-2013 6:32 PM@BigDave; The Giger Alien in ALIEN did indeed use it's tail, twice infact. During the scene where the alien confronts Lambert, Parker runs at it and it whips round and hits him with its tail. Then, it rapes Lambert with its tail.
The poster was good though!

MemberOvomorphNov-26-2013 10:17 PMThe predators are 8', and they'd easily beat either an engineer or a xenomorph hand-to-hand. The engineer is tall and strong and smart, but the predator is tough, agile, and skilled. A xenomorph would only barely be able to hurt a predator.

MemberChestbursterFeb-09-2014 5:31 PMI think it depends on a number of fanctions.
What melee/ranged weapons do the Engineers poses?
How many Engineers?
How many Xenomorphs?
What Xenomorph types are there? (warrior, drone, runner, Queen?)
How resistant are the Engineers to the Xenomorph's Molecular Acid Blood.
Until the movie arrives, we really can't tell the outcome of such a battle, or in a more likely case, a massacre, knowing the killing habbits of the Xenomorphs.
