How right you are my friend to a "T" we infact imo and to other theorists say that oneday WE will be ancient astronauts. I think in reality when king Alalu of the Anunnaki did arrive about 450,000 years ago or in Sumerian 120 Shars ago on Ki or Earth. Then about 432,000 years ago Enki arrived and splashed down in the Persian Gulf with the "Fishmen". In ancient Greek they're known as the Telkines or metallurgists so were the Sumerian ones as well. I got a little off topic kinda, anyways yes its a possibility.

and ironically (200,000 years since our genesis) we're attempting their GOLD PARTICLES IN THE AIR to protect our climate, except we're using aluminium. LOL at all the nonsense. :)

We have carbon-dating of animal life dating back millions of years, hundreds of million years in fact, but not one nut or bolt from advanced technology of those advanced societies of yore, the likes of mythological Atlantis has yet ... or ever been found. Not one bolt, not one nut, not one piece of hardened plastic … or any other advanced material, only organic matter, dinosaur bones, worn down teeth from humanoids past sans dentist drill-work. On the other hand, we have been visited regularly or irregularly by inanimate matter strikes (cf. the rock whacks listed : http://www.weatherfriend.com/astronomy/comet/impact.html )… about 10T yrs before the last Neanderthal breathed his last gasp N.A. wuzz again solidly wacked, this time in today's Arizona (http://www.barringercrater.com) this time. No need for outsiders to destroy us. Space rock whacks will do the job. Yet, even there, not one bolt or nut from metal use of past technological peoples… none, nothing, nada, nichts ... even the rocks have survived their fiery hit, but nothing of anything of postulated past civilizations on this planet. ok, we may well have been visited from benign galactic UN-types (= good Engineers) who classified homo sapiens or our earlier humanoids as: Category "Zero" in terms of energy usage … in other words: uninteresting non-nerds. In 2093 our space vessels are still unable to tap into energy which is universal available everywhere between every Planck measure of quantum space. True, we are not alone in our galaxy or including further out ... However, the question is: are we going to suffer the fate of the Aztecs when Cortez and slaughter came visiting from Spain? Slaughtered by aliens or bad Engineers? Or, will good Engineers greet an insignificant unright-walking species (with give or take 1250cc of brain-volume) … with get-well cards and smiles ? From our own (often sad I would add ) human history … have we ever shown respect for technological lesser societies? No, never. And chances of Dr. Shaw & totally unreliable David only meeting good Engineers in P2 are at best 50-50 … statistically, only if advanced species in galaxies is typically half good, half bad. which is a stretch. bad guys seem to do better in a tough environment. and since there is no priority for, say a Category 10 species to shake our Category "Zero" hand maybe another solid rock whack will silence our whole quest for Paradise before anything else happens ? hope we make it, hope Dr. Shaw, a true Christian, is treated well, but then so did the Aztecs too. they too had their own jesus.

Yeah I still think we were visited but the ancient texts are so specific. If you read them Mankind was not to have such things because we would probably misbehave and cause our own destruction. IMO they did just that but dont worry guys I am not a type of person like Erik Von Daniken or Georgio Tsoukalous. I actually do my research and look at the psychology of ancient mans brain to see if its a metaphor or if its reality. The images of rockets and men with starnge headgear found in Sumer are fascinating.

I believe the bad alien civilizations died out because of their own mistakes, while good civilizations prevail. Plus The engineers seem almost extinct.

Although there is a remote possibility that extraterrestrial civilizations visiting Earth in the past does not mean that they are played a key role in our origin and development. In fact maybe they came to Earth long before mankind. Anyway an alien space probe (unmanned) was able to visit our solar system and the Earth long ago, but the probe could take a long time to travel through space and also its creators could be extinct.

However extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

it's just with 100 to 200 billion suns with planets in our galaxy (Milky Way) and Andromeda (300 billion) not far off ... all bets are off. in the past, no tv & radio waves originated from Earth. the dinosaurs didn't have iTunes. all that aside, if in 100 yrs we have discovered quantum space (Einstein & Heisenberg & Co.), what would a civilizaiton that has been technologically knowledgible for say 1000 or 2000 yrs be capable of ? surely capable of faster space travel between solar systems than the Prometheus is in 2093 ? to the (good & bad) Engineers Dr. Shaw's science skills must seem like reasoning by formulated by an intellectual midget, thoughts closer to those of gnats trying to do quantum physics without basic math skills ? this is our lot unfortunately. we are just starting out on the road. others have already travelled miles and miles ... and perhaps are not interesting in waiting for us or explaining the obvious to us ?

Even Carl Sagan said that the figure(s) known as Uanna or "Fishmen" of ancient Mesopotamia could have been an actual pre-historic contact case. Mainly because of how he is described, infact there is no metaphor or anything like that about him. Uanna is said to have been a real being because he was also never described as a "god" or "deity" at all. He is simply a giant sized man (not jack the giant killer sized) but at least 9 ft tall. His out fit they say was not a real fish but somesort of aquatic outfit. In the heavens he never wore a fish costume he wore an "Eagle" costume in other words a possible flight suit or pilot suit. The Eagle was a metaphor for flight not some magical tale discerning man and his myths but real.

Hard physical evidence is one thing this needs to be concrete but who knows for now.

first I have heard about the Uanna story. thank you. assuming that (an) advanced being(s) were here they did not say to the people then ... keep this object and pass it on to future generations, not to be opened for 100 - 200 years ? or to place a message (metallic container) high on a mountain top that would not be climbed until man had advanced enough to climb with oxygen tanks ? if visitors have seen our earlier camps or burgeoning cities then they left us nothing, no object that endures time. guess the reason could be ... leave be, let them continue ? looks like the visit was from good Engineers. lucky for us.

A fascinating discussion. I don't think any legitimate records date back 400,000 years by humans, however. It seems possible to me that the Atlantis civilization may have disappeared like it did because of some extraterrestrial judgments, perhaps a disaster brought on by some advanced technology of the Atlanteans themselves. It is a thrilling notion to me, that the engineers may have actually been humans who learned to grow themselves. This seems more reasonable than they were so large to begin with. Perhaps not humanity on Earth, but humanity elsewhere began as we did, advanced beyond us, and developed larger forms then? The black oil and the xenomorphs do not seem to have any good purpose, however. It almost seems a pity it's in the movie, where we have a chance for such great science fiction.
