They WANT our DNA

The Nephilim
MemberOvomorphAugust 18, 20131313 Views12 RepliesNot sure if its been suggested before, probably has, but what if the Engineers are after our DNA because their species' evolution has reached a genetic dead-end? They need us to evolve further. But perhaps the only way to incorporate our DNA with theirs is a process that would take years to bare fruit. Hence the Engineer sacrificing himself, his genetic material, to adapt to our DNA.. for the future harvest! Just a thought.
They are not what they claim to be.

It is a plausible theory, I mean the Engineers - as far as we know, are the first of the "Human" genome. The God of Humanity - creating us in their likeness. However I'm not sure that they necessarily "NEED" our DNA.
I mean when I think about it, even though the Engineers are mortal beings, they are a "higher" species than us. We share the same genetic code, but there's clearly certain elements missing, preventing us from attaining what they have attained.
But let's stick on topic, if they NEED our DNA, then this is the theory I've got surrounding that:
The Engineers spill their blood and DNA to mix with the DNA of the native planet, allowing for their "children" to spawn and adapt to that specific world. If the Engineers NEED our DNA, perhaps it's a matter of "adaptation" limits on their species? Perhaps they sought out Earth, because it's an ideal spot to live, but (like in War of the Worlds) their DNA isn't compatible with the air, food, atmospheric makeup of the planet. So they seed the planet and let their DNA evolve without having to sacrifice generations to evolve.
Then, when their current home is overpopulated or destroyed, they come back to Earth, harvest up Humanity, use us as slaves and set up shop on Earth until it's time to move again.
Where could this theory be supported? - The Bible.
It actually says (not sure the exact source) that when the "rapture" occurs, following the war and between God and Satan, that God will bring the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth and Earth will be transformed - golden walkways, no war, no hunger, etc... It'll be "Heaven on Earth". But it also says that in our afterlife, we won't be "lazy" and chillin', being all heavenly and such - but we will continue to work and serve God.
So, Engineers come back after letting us build the world for them, evolve the genome so they can survive? (God returns)
Engineers battle the Xenomorphs, or the rogue detachment bent on ruining the next "Kingdom of Heaven" and kill off Humanity to prevent the DNA extraction - evolution process? (Big war between Angels and Demons)
Good triumphs evil, Engineers bring their ships down to Earth, transform the planet to rid it of pollution, and all the other crap we've done to it - enslaves Humanity (but probably not in a horrible sense, just a general hierarchy) and then all is well until a new Kingdom needs to be established - and the process repeats (Heaven on Earth)
I know I've rambled a bit, but I haven't rambled on these forums for a while, so I had to get it off my chest. Haha
Let me know what you think!

@welcome to the forum dude.
I like the idea of the xeno being made as not just a killing machine, but as a creature that has another purpose aswell. From a deleted scene from alien (can be found on youtube), brett and dallas were cocooned by the xeno. If you find the scene on youtube, you would see that brett was being transformed into an egg. Brett was apprently injected by the xeno. Some on the forum believe this is how eggs are formed, not by a queen persay. we call it the transformation method.
After the victim has been transformed into an egg(was contains the DNA of it victim). The resulting facehugger find its host, lays its egg in the host chest collecting more DNA. Out comes the Xeno, finds its victim. Infects the victim, transforms the victim into an egg (collecting more DNA in the process) and the cycle is repeated. each time it goes through it cycle, it collects more and more DNA.

After the xenos have wiped out all the population and collected all the DNA of the target planet. The xenos die off (old age) leaving the eggs with the collected DNA. The eggs are processed and the DNA is harvested and utilized.

Well there are many unanswered questions regarding the Engineers, and why they seeded us and if they can procreate another way.... and are there females? Did they advance themselves so far that they did not need to reproduce to keep their race alive as they had advanced to a level that they would live for fast amounts of years and are able to cure themselves of a all manner of illnesses and disease.
By that i mean is the reason Mankind can reproduce purely to procreate our species as we all die and can die of a all manner of things and by having Children our Race Lives on.
What if in Evolution we are not bound to the limited lifespan and what if most illness and diseases are a thing of the past... Like a Vampire who do not suffer from any illness and can heal many wounds.... they are to a degree immortal but they can be killed.
If a Race Advances so much that aging genetically does not occur, that the need for solid foods to sustain ourselves is not needed, and that we are immune to cancers, and other diseases. And we do not now live naturally to 75-90 years but indeed now thousands or hundreds of thousands and that the only way Death could come is by being mortally wounded.... So that to die from old age, heart disease, cancer and other ailments is never going to occur..
If a Race advanced to achieve this, maybe they would no longer need to reproduce to keep their population alive and thus lose the ability to reproduce as they do not need to in order to sustain the species.
Maybe then these Engineers needed to find some other way to reproduce?
But a interesting thing is what Ridley said, and that is that the Sacrificial Scene is how the Engineers seed their Gene pool to create other life in their image.
He indicates this is not the only way they can produce life, its just simply how they choose to do it, and the movie hints in many dialogs that the Engineers seed and created us...... simply because they could, just as Weyland created David.
There could be the connection...
David was created as with other Androids to serve Mankind and to perform tasks that other wise Mankind would have to do...
We are Mortal and to a degree David is Immortal.
Now maybe the Engineers created us for the same reason, simply to have some other being to serve them and to perform tasks for them so that the Engineers no longer have to.
However unlike how Weyland and Mankind created David, this time the creators (Engineers) are the near Immortal ones and not their creation (Mankind)
This angle is similar to the Anunaki tale, in how and why Mankind was created.
Again the Engineers seed life that way, because its how they choose to do so and because they simply can, and maybe not because its the only way they can create life or that they need to.
To think of it how Advanced they are, surely they could clone themselves like how we can now clone cells and create clones ourselves and however the way we could create a clone would be impossible without reproductive system.
Maybe this is why Engineers can no longer clone themselves? maybe they can that way we dont know...
But again surely such a advanced race could clone themselves in a test tube or similar, we can only imagine that in say 2000 years time Mankind could be able to create a clone and human life without needing a Womans Womb at all.

A good story for Prometheus 2 could be a more development of the characters on the movie introduction of a few more, like the interactions of the deacon trying to find a purpose, stalking Shaw for mysterious reasons aboard the juggernaut. I think the element of mystery should stay whit the movie since discoveries are still to be made, the deacon should stay and become an ally of some sort due some feelings towards Shaw (mother and creature relationship only that twisted and immoral. live could be complicated and you might get what you don’t want in Christmas.) giving Shaw some new problems and relationship interactions. David knows how to use their maps and when he is talking to Shaw at the end of Prometheus he tells her about paradise but is a lie in order to gain her trust once again, and tells her that they are going to paradise but he course the ship to a more sinister place. Weyland is dead he might be following his will caged in his programing, he is a robot after all, or since the old man is no more he might be trying to gain something for himself “A discovery”. Something to make him complete. The movie could linger in the ship for minutes to unfold a little of the mystery of the engineers, like their explanation of life, but you will only get Shaw point of view. “they created us then they tried to kill us I deserve to know why” to make a more complicated assumption the engineers are creators but isn’t the only ones, they stole the spark of life the black goo for their own vision of immortality or to spread life as they see fit, they aren’t bad they are just too complicated and advanced, just like Prometheus of the Greek mythology (Space could be a pretty big place…). Shaw doesn’t know all this but David know only but a glimpse of this truth yet to be unfold, she is drive to ask the engineers to get her answers for all of those who lost their lives in Prometheus and for her. David is drive to find or fulfill his purpose all in a theme of mystery and betrayal and full of human emotions, since David could mimic all of them to perfection he is cold machine but might be overheating because of the pressure of the circumstances like self-updating software. The deacon lings in the shadows watching and learning as they travel in the ship and David is now aware but decide to stay silent. The deacon could be a vicious creature but whit an unconditional feeling for Shaw and could be even jealous of David for just being close and able to communicate whit Shaw, but decide to ling in the shadows. David is aware of the activities of the deacon and decides to tell Shaw a version of what he assume was the cause of the outbreak (this could be some additional information for people to understand a bit more of what happen in the previous film). They are now arriving at the planet or moon, and David is the only one who could decipher the planet (moon) Shaw is getting a grip of herself knowing that she is so close again to find the answers. They landed the ship and the place is inhospitable again, she finds herself in an unfamiliar place during familiar conditions, she keeps in mind all those who died, and headstrong leave the ship in a dark dusty windy atmosphere carrying David’s head.

To all
I believe the following:
The engineers was used by the elders as slaves to better their genome. A member of the slave race engineers was selected to seed a planet. The genetic genome improvements was then utilised by the elders and in return the members of the slave race that was genetically needing improvements(they looked like leppars in the deleted scenes and they look desperate and not the source of evil laughter) was rewarded and the improvements kept them alive as they themselves were not allowed to get the full benefit. At some stage the elders got into a war of there own with other elders and some of the engineer slave factions decided to steal the elder technology and seed for themselves. It would be many thousands of years before the elder returned but the loyal factions and disloyal factions got into war. As big dave said the form the star beast script that the xeno's were stumbled upon (I think by the elders) and the engineers used the black goo to liquidise the xenos as a bio weapon after the accident of lv 426 to make it safer to transport. so maybe the possibility of an engineer sabotaging the other ones isn't ridiculous after all but I still prefer the eventuality of messing with something they didn't understand aa well as they should have . They seeded planets to improve their own genome . So yes they definitely seeded planets to improve their genome the xeno's is a bio weapon used between the factions and also as a way of very quickly clearing seeded and getting the dna they were looking for. Bur what would prevent the engineers from simply altering their own dna and making themselves more intelligent ? And so exponentially becoming more intelligent and so becoming is advanced at such a pace that they were literally a millennia away from reaching the singularity. That is why I believe that the events of lv 426 is not more than say 4 - 5000 years after the elders departed to finish their own war. With not one to control the slave engineers they needed to speed up the process of dna gathering but the humans on earth were not willing to obey and they were earmarked to be black goo'd and restarted using improvements from other worlds. And they were very close to finally getting the dna computing models to a very much improved level and earth would serve as the place to seed the improved super intelligent engineers test the intelligence black goo the whole place and set up shop with their improved abilities to get the edge on the still loyal factions.
Or something like it .

Chris, I like the biblical apocalyptic reference. The Engineers as angels and xenomorphs as demons does strike a unique appeal to it I have to admit. Although the sole agenda here being "God's/the Angels'" preservation. A sinister twist on Revelation. Heads will turn.
But given your theory, you're assuming the Engineers wouldn't have any need for our DNA unless if it were to adapt to our "dirty" planet. But what if we humans are the "higher" species. What if we have a GREATER genetic evolutionary POTENTIAL far surpassing the Engineers themselves. What if the Engineers have already reached their evolutionary genetic apex. They can't evolve any further. So they created a mutagen(black goo) to experiment on various races searching for their genetic "Holy Grail", a DNA that would "jumpstart" their evolution once again. What if we're the Holy Grail. And once they find it.. destroy the rest since such a race(us) would eventually grow to be too powerful.
They are not what they claim to be.

There are many possibilities as far as the whole Franchise goes..
We have to remember though that what we saw in the concept work and deleted scenes, we may have to purely scrap as NEVER HAPPENED....
By that indeed the Elders looked a frail and aged race and that could open up the possibility of why they seed planets and who the Engineers are.
But Ridley could redesign the Elders so that they are indeed not as frail looking but appear mighty and powerful and truly Godlike.
Maybe this is why the Elder scene was cut? Ridley hinted as such!
Back to the Xeno and Goo, well the Mural does imply a significance to a Deacon type creature but also a Sacrifice of what appear to Engineers to a FaceHuger type creature....
Or could this had been some Prophecy that has been for-filled and the Deacon is the Deacon at the end of the movie and Engineer and Face Huger is Shaws Baby and the Last Engineer but they do look more traditional Face Huger than Cuddles...
Maybe its more simple....
Maybe as i mentioned recently some how these Engineers lost the ability to procreate the Natural Way well Sexual way....
They had to find other ways to achieve procreation and they used the Goo at the start of the movie to seed worlds and they held this in high regard as a great Ritual....
Maybe they later came across the Ancestor of the Xenomorph as in Star Beast Script, and a Engineer got Face Hugged and he then bared a Chest Buster Xeno-Related Organism.
Maybe this then excited the Engineers as they saw that via the Face Huger a Engineer could give birth to a Organism, where as they had lost the ability or never had it to bare offspring that grows inside and develops...
Maybe they then looked at this in high regard, and they carried out experiments with these Organisms, maybe there is then a connected reason to how the Engineers worshiped these creatures and at some point thought they could combine how they seeded life with how the Xeno Progenitor does and the outcome was the Urns.

Bigdave
Hi there
You remember the ugly guy standing behind the crucified xeno deacon in the mural ? I believe that is an elder who had the same problem that the engineers had because the elders had the same problem because they themselves are slaves to a superior being.
Otherwise why not simply reach the singularity themselves ?
The engineers sacrificing themselves with the facehuggers could just be like the engineers using xeno 's to clear a planet later doing it willingly to help the elders as from snorks theory of dna extraction.
I admit my theories are lacking but they are improving I hope.
I don't know if we will ever have a complete answer but thayt I s both the curse and beauty of ambiguity.
I refuse to get into canon discussions until the vast majority of people decide to vote and say what they believe.
Canon is not what the director says. Its what the Fanbase says.
It is great talking to you as always.
You 're and svanyas info on the starbeast script has been eye opening and inspiring. I am here showing how much of a novice I really am.
I reaaly feel there is a need for a sticky where the senior members can add links and explanations to scripts etc explaing starbeast - hp lovecraft -
Anything considered to important to your underdtanding of alien and alien DC anf its relationship to prometheus.
Then junior members and newcomers can easily see why senior members reason the way they do.

Well why i cant say how the Xeno came to be, i would assume it had been around long before LV 223.
You will have to read my latest post on the Origins of LV 426 but in a nutshell i think i have sussed out the LV 426 - LV 223 connection.
Basically over 2200 years ago the Engineers had known of the Xeno, how it came to be or how they came into contact we dont know, well i dont for sure...
But they did use it for Bio Weapon purposes...
I believe that they found the Bio Weapon Hazardous and they set up LV 223 which before may had not been intended as a Bio Weapon Facility. But latter changed to one.
Anyway the Engineers decided to use the outpost to test and modify the Bio Weapon....
LV 223 was now a Slaughter House for Xenos...
If we take how Burgers are made, and that Cattle get shipped to Slaughter House to be turned into Mince Beef thats stored to then be sold on and moved to places to use for various reasons inc Burgers...
Now replace Cattle with Eggs, and the processing plant that goes through process to make Cows into Mince Beef... into a Plant that uses Sacrificial Goo to break down and Store Xeno DNA into Urns.
Thats whats going on here i recon, hence Mural its a sign that maybe a Xeno Organism is Sacrificed to produce the Urns and a new Lifeforms creation/Bio Weapon.
The Derelict was on its way to LV 223 maybe transporting the Cargo that got compromised, now just how if Cattle Shipment showed signs of BSA then the whole Cargo would be destroyed as its contaminated meat.
Thus maybe compromised Cargo, had to be Quarantined, as surely a Juggernaut destined for LV 223 that is compromised would prove a major hazard.
If its not quite a case of the Derelict taking Cargo of Eggs to be processed, then maybe the Cargo is how they used to use the Bio Weapon or how they was going to...
And after the compromised Cargo on the Derelict the Engineers had to go back to the drawing board as they deemed use and transport of the Eggs was far to Hazardous in mass.
Thus they used some specimens on LV 223 to Re-Weaponize the Xeno into a Goo via same way that Sacrificial Engineer Seeded his DNA.
Thats my reading into things anyway.

I belive that engineers can modify, create and destroy DNA parts. They dont need to come a harvest .
September 12, 2013
Yes its has i have said elsewhere on here.
Such a advanced race especially if they created the original Goo, surely do not need to create a race of Humans over a process of Millions or years to harvest our DNA.
Ridley and the story boards had suggested the Sacrificial Scene was a long long time ago, and merely did not just produce Mankind in a instant.
Ridley hinted further to this by suggesting that they had visited us to Evolve and upgrade us over thousands of years.
Ridley also stated that this is not the only way they can produce life, its just the way they choose to do so...
Shaws comments about the Sun being Alone and Created Man for company, are comments added into the movie on purpose.
I would also go as far as to say that the Elders we saw in the deleted scenes are merely older more ancient Engineers.
Thus it points to and makes no sense for such a Advanced Race to go through the process of creating Mankind via a process that seeds their DNA with basic life to kicks start Evolution and thus would been Millions or years before that event bared its fruit...
And its hinted they guided mankind and taught us how to build Temples and Pyramids etc etc, and so dont make sense that they purely seeded life via Engineer Sacrifice to then obtain out DNA.
