MemberOvomorphJul-05-2013 7:16 PMShaw having 'dealt' with one engineer. What would she expect things to change when she reaches their home world. Did she realise that the one she incounted was either non-traditional (rebel/military) or just simply pissed off? Does she hope her cander/manner will change their opinion of humans as oppposed to weylands first contact? I wonder if she realises when she arrives at their home world in a warship 'carrying death' , she might not be well recieved. Perhaps the engineers would be either more hostile or compliant to her questions.
"how do you feel?"-" great, next stupid question"

MemberOvomorphJul-05-2013 9:10 PMI've thought about this a lot in writing for a sequel, and it's completely up in the air what they decide to do. I would guess, however, that Shaw will arrive without incident, and find welcome on Paradise as a guest.

MemberOvomorphJul-06-2013 12:16 PMKnowing Ridley, I think Shaw will find many unpleasant surprises. Even if the Engineer culture is alive and friendly, it's moral structure, if any, would likely be quite alien to a human being. What would be considered an honor there could well be a fate worse than death.
If I was Shaw, I'd hope at the very best to see/learn some things before dying. She has voluntarily propelled herself into a very dangerous unknown. I do imagine though that she will, by accident or intent, alter the course of history.

MemberOvomorphJul-07-2013 10:05 AMI misread your title and thought you'd made a good pun on "expectancies"...
Since creation seems to be a big deal in this story, Shaw might face her sterility problem again, or perhaps it might save her :P

MemberDeaconJul-08-2013 9:33 AMWe have to consider the incontinuity error that Prometheus has left....
Like they wanted us dead, but we are still around... This is simple because the Last of their Race on LV 223 (or so we are led to assume) is in a Cryo Sleep and either had no intention of coming out of this sleep to finish us off, or that he could not.... or indeed that he was waiting for us to turn up... but then he looked surprised to see us...
By that i mean all those Engineers had been wiped out bar the Last One, and he was in Stasis for a period that either had not yet come to pass i.e he was not due to awaken by time Prometheus found him... or he was at some point in pass but for some reason a failure kept him being awoken... kind of like the alarm clock he set, well it malfunctioned.
This closes any in continuity errors as far as why Mankind is around by Alien and Aliens and not wiped out or visited by Engineers..
But the omission at the end of the Movie that these Engineers do not come from LV 223 but a place we call Paradise indicates that maybe there are more out there.....
This gives us a problem......
1) If they wanted us dead, and thought they had done the job, maybe that would explain why they never bothered coming back etc.
2) Maybe they decided after LV 223 that we was not worth the hassle and just left to rot on Earth and that without there help we would never be a threat and stay primitive.
3) Maybe they never even knew about our creation...?
Either way if there are Engineers on the Homeworld they would know the outcome of the above 3, and would they take kind to us...
If not then why by Alien have they not set out to destroy us.....
If so then why have they not come to contact with Mankind by Alien... unless off course it takes Shaw longer to get to Paradise than it takes for the events of Alien, Aliens and Alien 3 etc to occur, maybe because its that far away that there is no chance Earths advancements by Aliens etc have no chance of traveling to Paradise.

MemberDeaconJul-08-2013 9:43 AMSo the above gets me thinking.......
If this place is full of Elders or Engineers or even just a small number like say 15+ .... And they do take offense to Shaw and David then the movie would not last long as they would easily dispose of those pair.
Unless David unleashes the Goo right away, in which case we could be in for a Prometheus meets Aliens... which i would not like to see, not until at the end.
This makes me think that either.
1) There are a few Engineers/Elders left but they are Benevolent to a degree up on seeing Shaw, and they would not see a lone Female as a threat and would maybe want to share information and find out about Shaw and David.
2) There are no Elders or Engineers left, or only handful either in Stasis or weakened and frail.
But did they not hint that the Creators of the Engineers on Paradise are far from kind and benevolent. This makes it interesting as to how they would see Shaw, surely they would want to keep her captive and extract information and test on her.
As if they merely want to kill her well it would not take long..
So we are not sure how this would fold out...
I think i can guess the End of the Franchise though....
You see as i think by the End of this new Franchise, there will be no interaction with Mankind and Engineers etc, because what ever is left of their civilization would be Destroyed at the End.
Thus prevent and loop holes...
Remember David is bringing Hell with him. And he will either use the Goo or unleash something else upon the inhabitants of Paradise so that in the end they are destroyed...
And i think in this sequence we could get our final clues to the Xenomorph and piece the puzzle together.

Apocalyptic Queen
MemberOvomorphJul-15-2013 9:25 AM@Big Dave - interesting points and I have to say I've also been mulling these over too. I think you are definitely right when you say that Shaw and David will not be immediately killed, also although Ridley has apparently hinted that they will discover "Hell", he has also hinted that it is David who may be bringing that hell with him, and I certainly think that he is alluding to some goo here, which I have no doubt he will unleash for his own purposes.
You ask, why haven't the Engineers set out to destroy us by the events of Alien? However, do you think it is conceivable for example, that they might have been on their way to destroy us again before the events of Alien, but were prevented (yet again) from doing so by an outbreak of Alien infestation on Lv426?
I think that Shaw and David will encounter a hostile reaction when they arrive on the Engineers' home planet, BUT if religious symbolism is indeed significant in the unfolding events as we have up until now reason to believe (a great play has been made of Shaw's faith, as well as the religious symbolism of the sacrifice in the prologue of Prometheus and the fact that they set on course to destroy us two thousand years ago), then as cliched as it might seem, I still would not be surprised if Shaw may eventually find a way to ingratiate herself with the Engineers by at least the final film in the franchise.
