Aliens: Colonial Marines: Was it really a bad game?

I was so disappointed with the game, had been looking forward to it for a longtime. The staff did a review if you would like to read it.

I kind of liked it. (Well, I only did the 1st couple of levels, but we got stuck on level 2.) They did add too many new, unrealistic Xenos though.

Im a twin and my brother and I play it every once in a while, its a fun game to mess around on, I really liked the sound FX though.

ACM was not completely horrible although it did have its fair share of problems.  I think that what made it seem alot worse than it was, was the fact that it was just so far and removed from what they showed in the Demo.  So you take a game that was buggy, unpolished, and kind of a mess, and then it is nothing like the demo, yeah it comes off as a huge mess. 

The singleplayer portion was dissappointing, and the coop was poorly implemented.  Multiplayer on the other hand was alot of fun, not nearly as buggy, and many people still play it today.  Bughunt was a great mode of play that the first DLC offered, alot of people loved it and wanted more.  Stasis Interrupted was the game redemption in the way of an addon singleplayer campaign.

ACM could have been better, much better that is for sure.  But it could have been much worse as well.  Wether it was good or bad is all in the eye of the beholder.  Here is an anniversary video with my thoughts on the subject.

So... After I read through the comments, it is safe to say that I better stay off this game. But since I am a huge AvP fan will it be better for me or should I stay clear from it?

PS: I love the rebooted AvP game... If that says something!

Yes it's better to stay away from this game. I was also a huge fan for the 2010 AVP game but felt the Predators ruined the multiplayer so I was very excited for the new Colonial marines. The game is extremely average to under average, when we were promised so much more.

And then there's twist at the end. Better off you not ever having the misfortune of seeing that

• Terrible new Xenomorphs
• No real plot devlopment
• Overuse of WY corperation
• Awful Alien AI
• Terrible atmosphere

5 reasons Aliens: CM was good

• Difficult, but unique enemy soilder AI
• (SPOILER ALERT!) Sad Scenes (EX: Xenomorph butsting from Bella's chest)
• Showing how powerful the Queen Xenomorph is
• Graphics
• Multiplayer

Ah, coming back on this topic. After some time, I now find A:CM very similar to the Aliens arcade game.

i think its a averge game the only reson i buy this game is becaues its aliens not alien but aliens its fun being a marine.  it was terrified when i saw the alien queen. its terrible but fun

I enjoyed the hell out of this game..I still play it ..right along with the last AvP game on the 360

I didn't think the game was that bad.  As long as you don't try to find glitches, the game isn't too bad.  the variety of weapons, aliens, and missions allowed for decent gameplay.  The only problem I see is because of the passage of time and the stigma the game has against it, the multiplayer, which for completionists is a requirement, is utterly useless.  If you don't enjoy the game that's your opinion your opinion, but if its for petty reasons like 1 or 2 glitches, then you have to learn to keep an open mind.
