The Kardashev scale is a method of measuring a civilization's level of technological advancement, based on the amount of energy a civilization is able to utilize. The scale has three designated categories called Type I, II, and III. A Type I civilization uses all available resources impinging on its home planet, Type II harnesses all the energy of its star, and Type III of its galaxy.

There are extensions to the original scale that you can see in the Wikipedia article.

So, What kind of civilization are the Engineers? I would like to know your thoughts on this.

I think they are Type II because they seem to use all available materials and metals but maybe not harnessing a star but everything else like planets and moons. Its highly possible they might use a star's energy inexchange for usable energy but then what for and why?

The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

i think type 1 because i maintain they have a race above them that limits them in their energy use. their energy are probably nano based . they have biotech ships that uses bio energy such as mitochondria that plugs directly into some form of subspace energy that they use to communicate with each other - close the ether of which the universe is made. the ship is almost a living being that is set to work to tight rope tolerances that are controlled by the green energy ball that he touched to instruct the chair to come out. the engineer simply wishes and the ship changes size shape and function. the elders controlled this via subspace frequencies but somehow they were able to gain controll of this themselves but bob from a loyal faction messed with the frequencies they used. and the goo etc room malfunctioned causing the outbreak.

sorry i know this is off topic. do you know  what they call the the green energy ball that the engineer touches before the chair came out ??

I always thought thier home planet would be something like maybe it was contructed arround a black hole or something really crazy so thats possibly type 2. But after 100s of millions of years tbh it should be more like type 3. The engineers could have less power than the elders but are the elders just older engineers they certainly looked that way in the deleted scenes. I just laughed when Ridley said in the blu ray that there was like 150 million years inbetween the craft at teh start and the derelict - really thats all that changeed in 150 million years wow they just not trying to advance or are we just not seeing what they can do?!

Yeah, and they also use hypersleep chambers lol just like humans. But beyond that I also hope that in the sequel Riddles Scott show us some kind of Black Hole or Wormhole.

Unfortunatly I think this is one area ridley needs help on I mean his age and he uses a watch still doesnt have a smart phone etc etc he needs someone to keep him up to date on technology! You can just tell he has no idea what evolution could be doing in only a few thousand yewars let alone millions!

Yes, I think Ridley Scott needs being advised by someone in his upcoming science fiction films. Even Christopher Nolan who is younger had a scientific as a guide for his latest film.

Returning to the topic, I wonder how the ships of the Engineers work; anti matter, magnetism, wormholes? There is something about this in the Dark Horse comics?
