MemberDeaconMar-03-2015 5:15 PMIts been a while since we have seen a Prometheus Topic, so i would like to discus the Fifield Mutation...
And i wonder if we would see something similar to the unused mutations in Paradise, as David uses the Goo on some body... be that himself or the Elders/Engineers or some other Humanoids they may encounter.
Which Fifield did you prefer?
1) Toxic Avenger Fifield..
2) Deleted Scene Mutant Fifield
Of which someone has made a Sculpt based of the design for this one... Here
3) Canned Animatronic Fifield..
4) Another Alternative Concept work (Baby Head Fifield).
There was a few more concepts too...
I myself was disapointed with the Fifield Mutation, in Spaights draft it was very well described but a little too much Xeno look...
I did not mind the deleted scene Fifield, but i did not like the Toxic Avenger Fifield, but we have to remember that they had maybe made a change of direction as far as what the Goo does, and the Toxic Avenger Mutation does seem to be one going through changes as if its DNA is being broken down, and so a bit like what Holloway may have started to change into, and the swollen head looks like its about to explode...
so i can understand the change..
But the Fifield i liked was in a way the Animatronic one they was working on, this had a more Xeno DNA look to it and would have made a more clear connection between the Goo, the Hamerpedes and Xeno.
But my favorite never got past concept work and that was the Baby Face one, well that one shown above in particular....
To me this had the streamline look of the Hammerpedes, you could see a connection between Hammerpede and this, and how if the Goo did that to those worms, then yes this is what a Humanoid could be turned into...
It also had a link to Xeno, and i feel would have made the connection between the Goo and Xeno more obvious... and fitted in with my theory and conclusion i got from the movie and one that fitted in perfectly to how Spaights saw the Process and connection between the Sacrifical Cup contents and the Urns.

MemberOvomorphMar-03-2015 6:30 PMBigDave, I think the deleted mutant Fifield was better than the toxic avenger version. The mutant was more alien and terrifying to look at. It really shook me when I first saw the deleted scenes.
It will be interesting to see if Ridley does anything with this "black goo" question. There has been so much discussion about the black goo, in what it does and how it migh be used later. Personally I don't think Ridley will do much, if anything, to deveop the black goo side of the story. Just reading between the lines in his more recent interviews.

MemberDeaconMar-03-2015 7:09 PMWell i think we would see different, as i think Ridley has hinted at the Goo being used...
His comment was a while back, that David was bringing Hell with him and what would happen if the Goo had infected God, or a Machine...
I wonder how he can steer away from the Xeno and Engineers, and also how would and depending on what state Paradise is in, how would they allow David and Shaw to land a Engineer Bio Weapon Ship without any kind of security measures, and how would David use the Goo if the Engineers or their creators have such tight security?
Maybe the Engineers or their creators or what ever beings they find, are not aware of the Xeno at all, or even aware of the Juggernaughts?
That would let Ridley explore other things without us expecting to know about the Xeno because the Engineers on Paradise created the Xeno or the Xeno created them etc etc.
Because if the Xeno was something created, or came across and attempted to experiment with by a faction of Engineers that those on Paradise was unaware of this would help Ridley side step some of those questions...
This would also then allow David to exploit and infect some of them with the Goo, and i feel it is this action that would produce the NEW MONSTER that would be a fresher take on the Original Xenomorph... or the Necromon 4 it was based off.
I think the Goo will play a massive part, and by showing what ever event David does with the Goo to lead to a Organism that will be fresh but would somewhat have Genetic Connection to the Xeno, would give us some more clues.
Saying that how do we know the Cargo is carrying the same type of Goo?
Spaights draft the Engineer ships Cargo holds held 7 different Xeno types..
Maybe thus each Temple had a slight different DNA in the Goo contained within the Urns?
I do think the Goo will play a massive part and ultimately maybe it would destroy or lead to the down fall of what ever is left on Paradise, and this would close a Plot Hole as far as between Prometheus Paradise and Aliens how come we Humans have not seen any futher interaction between the Engineers and us...
Unless Paradise is so far away, and David and Shaw take many many years to get there?

MemberOvomorphMar-04-2015 5:40 AMI liked the deleted mutant Fifield as well. Like much of Prometheus, it had 60's pulp sci fi art look to it, and that one image of it enraged is spooky as hell.
I'm mystified by that particular choice, though if I didn't know it existed I wouldn't have thought twice about it.

MemberOvomorphMar-04-2015 1:00 PMFor me, having a creature like the babyhead in the next film seems like the appropriate route. This baby headed creature may end up being a younger version of the deacon.

MemberDeaconMar-05-2015 7:09 AMWell we cant be sure 100% where they are going....
They are not or so we have not heard nothing yet, (going to LV 223).
They are going to Paradise, this is near 100% as Ridley stated that these beings they find are not Gods and not benevolent...
Ridley also hinted at a new Monster and that he wanted to give us something of a more Fresher look to the Original Monster... that has to be either the Big Chap Alien from Alien or the Necromon 4 concept it was created from.
But to me those look to close to the Aliens Xenos, if he wants to give us something more fresher and he did say that the Deacon was too Alieny too...
Another interesting comment is David is bringing Hell with him, and what happens if the Goo Bio Weapon is used on God? or a Machine....
Could this hint towards the Cargo David is bringing with him being used on himself to upgrade him to something new... or unleashed on the beings they find on Paradise and maybe the higher beings who created the Engineers may not be so Organic.
The result of one of these is this new Fresher Monster...
What is further interesting is we have to Assume David did not hijack the Juggernaught from the Temple they visited, as he said there are many more.. many does not mean 1-2 more.... and there is no way that Temple has another 1-2 more. Especially if many more means more than 5..
So we can not be 100% sure if the Cargo he is carrying which is Black Goo Urns... we cant be sure it contains the same DNA that those did that we saw in Prometheus.

MemberPraetorianMar-05-2015 1:01 PMI also think that the Deleted Mutant Fifield seemed much scarier. It looked less 'human' and considering it was CGI, more realistic than the over-the-top Toxic Fifield!

MemberDeaconMar-06-2015 5:10 AMI felt the Mutant Fifield, looked well disapointing and also it seemed to distract from what the movie and Goo was trying to connect, if we consider the connection between Spaights Original Idea and Lindeloffs Evolve it into a Goo instead....
Saying that with the change of direction they have made with the Goo, we could be led to see that Fifield is about to litterally explode at some point after....
Ridley is a fan of action and using sequences and props than CGI... i would assume they shot the scene with Sean Harris to get all the Actors in right places, and replaced Harris with the CGI...
So that with Harris the other actors had some one to interact with, the only other option would have been to dress Harris up in total Green Costume or at least some parts of him so they can then add CGI.
Ridley felt Harris did a good job, but i think its more so either...
1) He did not quite like the CGI scene...
2) He felt the CGI Scene was too Xeno related and seems they had in post production decided to remove some of the Xeno connections, the Engineer Back Story and how the Goo may had Originally been planned.

MemberDeaconMar-06-2015 5:12 AMI feel if they had gone the route of the Baby Head look as a CGI overlay on Sean Harris, then it would have gave us more answers regarding the Xeno connection and left less people confused and not happy at the lack of Answers, it would also had meant they could leave the Xeno behind more..
But now they are left with people still wanting to know what the hell was the connection and i mean by that the General Casual Sci Fi fans, who have not disected the movie in detail.
