Movies take a lot of time. However if film creators use the time wisely, like Aliens and Terminator 2, classic films can be forged.

I explained a bit in my post regarding the Production time about potential timeframe and why the movie has not been worked on yet... i will cover some things for you now.

Yes as First Child said Sequels can take some time the Alien Franchise Sequels have all ran about 6 years apart on average, other Franchises have been similar...

However at the release of previous movies in those, they had no idea about a sequel... Prometheus was set up for at least one sequel should Fox Green Light it in which case they near enough did upon release of Prometheus.

Prometheus 2 was happening, has been since 2012 and they knew where they was going and roughly ideas for that since then... things had evolved and been changed since then, of which the Elders and Engineer Hierarchy and how the Engineers are now to be portrayed and this idea has been the case since before Prometheus Release... the Edit of Scenes that involved Engineers, and cutting of the Elder Scene may not all be just Coinsidence.

The thing is while Fox was keen on getting a Part 2 done and Ridley, we have to remember that Ridley has had a busy schedule since Prometheus and also Fassbender too and even Rapace has had a somewhat busy schedule.

In order to make a movie that is based on for sure David and Shaw they have to wait until Fassbender and Rapaces Schedules are free.... and Fassbenders would be freed up after the Summer... he may want a break mind as he has been busy.

They have had a idea of what they want to do, and these ideas had been put to a Writer Jack Paglen, who after a number of drafts they then got Micheal Green in to re-work the Final Draft that Paglen had done.....

This has been done and dusted they have a Draft as of Fall 2014.... yet changes could be made to that from now untill the movie is done...

Fassbender and Ridleys Schedules mean the movie could not be worked on by after Summer 2015 which would make the March 2016 release date that was rumoured years ago to be well Impossible....   Ridley had to put back work on The Martian by 6 months release....  this may push back Prometheus 2 futher too.

Here are some FACTS!

1) The Movie is happening, they have the Plot Finished!

2) They could not start shooting due to Ridley and Fassbenders Schedule.

3) Ridley is being a Part of Blade Runner 2 but it looks like he would have to Sacrifice Directing that movie to work on Prometheus 2 this is News that both movies could be released within a year or so of each other and that Ridley wont work on one and then the other as Director... which can only mean Prometheus 2 is most Imortant to him right now.

4) Ridley is no Spring Chicken, he is getting Old, he has a few Pet Projects of which Blade Runner 2 and getting Prometheus Franchise finished could be his most important ones. 

He is bound to want to be involved heavy in both of those and also reported to have a lot of input on Alien 5 as Fox seems it wants to capture some of the ideas Ridley would have wanted for the Alien Franchise had Ridley had more control over the Evolution of the Franchise after Alien.

Ridley lost that input when he did not work on Alien 2.... but the Franchise left 3 Mystreys and Stories never told...

a) Space Jockey... who was he, what was his Race, what was their purpose and connection with those Eggs and Xeno.

b) The Xeno where did this Organism come from and what connection did it have with the Space Jockey.

c) Weyland Yutani, what is the history and Orgins of this company and what kind of things are they involved in.

Prometheus went to answer some of the above, and mainly B was not answered directly...

Ridley lost control of how the Alien evolved after Alien... but he has a chance to rubber stamp his ideas on the Space Jockey, History, Origins and Agenda... and their connection with the Xeno and its Origins and Purpose.

I think Ridley would want to clear these up even if its only slightly, so as to avoid them being un-answered as if they are.... RIDLEY knows that Fox could exploit any Unanswered Questions in ways that would go against ideas Ridley would have wanted and so while he is around he would want to PUT HIS STAMP on these...

And Ridley can not garuntee he would be able to work on such things in 10 years time...

Does this mean Prometheus 2 for 2016?  We cant be sure... but with a Draft done, with Ridley and Fassbenders Schedules free and a Alien 5 given Green light for a  2017 at latest release date it would be ideal for them to start work on Prometheus 2 either Late 2015 or early 2016 and i do feel they would start Production by next Summer at the very latest...

So i would say we would see Prometheus 2 by the end of 2017 latest and maybe even see it by Fall 2016

As First Child said the company would want to make sure they do the movie RIGHT they do not want to rush it out and this is why, even though they had the rough idea for where they wanted the movie to Go as of 2012.... it had taken over 2 years until they have near enough got the Story they want to tell.

They know Prometheus left a sour taste in some peoples mouths, they know some people who was not Sci Fi fans would not have understood what the movie was on about.

They also dont want to re-hash a Alien movie and Alien 5 is a blessing for them because it can give Alien fans something to chew on, and if Alien 5 and Prometheus 2 are being worked on closely together so we will see some connections in Alien 5 to Prometheus as far as Engineers Experiments and Technology and Xeno DNA... this could help give a link to the Alien and also allow us to see a more Xeno fest movie..

While Prometheus 2 also gives minor clues to the Xeno but goes to explore a less Xeno route..

I am sure when we see Alien 5 and Prometheus 2 there would be a bridge that would connect the dots between Space Jockey/Engineer and Xeno connection.

Ridley Scott and Fox want to make sure that this movie will be EPIC and would have taken on board some of the critics of Prometheus, the applause for Alien and positives from Prometheus and would aim to make sure this movie is DONE RIGHT

Best things come to those who wait!

It's not just waiting for the actors to become free, it's building sets(renting the wharehouses), wardrobe, vehicles, etc..... that stuff takes time and needs to be done before the first actors show up.

Did they tear down the LV223 sets, destroy the Space Jockey chair set? Do they have to rebuild it??

Alien 5: Honestly, Xenos are kind of dead to me, when I left the theater in 1979, I thought they were cosmic horrors, otherworldy...I wasn't sure they could even die! Then came along Aliens and I found they could die and they lost that 'cosmic horror' aspect to me.....A 6 year old with a shotgun could kill them, or a 80 year old in a wheel chair with a handful of grenades could wipe them out. I'm unsure they can ever regain that 'OMG!!' crown from me.

There is a lot of production that has to be planned and while a movie may take 3-6 months to shoot, then 3-6 months for effects, Music and Editing.. etc......  a lot of Post Production work  starts before all that and indeed Prometheus took over 18 months from when it was first started on untill release.

While they have to wait for Cast Members Free Schedules they would also have to plan all the sets etc.... the KEY figure would be Ridley himself he has had a busy schedule and he is a very hands on person..

He likes to have input on near every single stage of production..... so he would need a lot of free time to then spend giving his input on stuff, he could leave someone doing some production work be it conscept work, or actual props or sets and Ridley would come along  and go like " can you change this" "i think this would look better like this"

So its a combination of things really, i would be very very suprised if the movie is out by Summer of Next Year and i would doubt a March Release date... but i would also be suprised if the movie did not go into Production by This time next year... so yes i think our wait would be 18 months to 2 years tops to see Part 2..

Only time would tell and i would assume Once Ridley is doing interviews after the release of  The Martian he may then start to drop some hints about Prometheus 2 and Blade Runner.

As far as the Alien being so Original and Awe Inspiring, it was and that was because it was Pretty Original and the movie was shot as a Survival Horror.....

But there are many who feel Aliens onwards destroyed the Fear that the Alien caused... they toned and dumbed down the Alien......  I say not quite....

In Alien the Alien was basically acting like a Slasher Movie Villan hidding on a ship....

The DC version actually showed us more of a purpose behind its actions than just hunting the crew one by one....

Also the Xeno was never really attacked in Alien... the Nostromo Crew was not experienced or Militarily trained. They had never delt with anything like this, and after Brett was gone, they again did not go around the situation well but they was after all merely Space Truckers.

They could not use any weapons for Fear of Wounding the Organism and its Acid for Blood Compremising the Hull of the Ship.....  

I would not say the Xeno was near  unbeatable, the Face Huger was cut and bled on the floor... so as the saying goes.... well from Predator.....   "if its bleeds... it can be killed"

But yes Aliens did kind of make it die to easy.... but Prometheus made Fifield far to tough....

I think Alien 5 would be trying to go back to the Aliens route but maybe make them apear a little more tougher.... i also think it would also explore some new varients of Xeno DNA.

Prometheus 2, well i think Ridley intends to truely shock us and give us new Monster or a few that will be as awe inspiring as the Xeno from the Original Alien... certainly seems he has something special lined up as far as one of the NEW MONSTERS is concerned.

I love how tough mutant Fifield was! Fifield would have killed the entire crew if they didn't have weapons...and a 100 ton vehicle! Very cool. No need to keep any 'hosts' alive...kill everything...VERY cosmic horror.

Something like Fifield must have spooked the Engineers and made them run. The creature(s) like Fifield need to be tough to threaten a room full of 8ft super strong Engineers.....make them run for their life!

Infact, I would say the Fifield/Holloway muntants are a step above Xenomorphs. Xenos keep a certain amount of foes alive...They are thinking plotting creatures.   it's the reason Newt was rescued(Dallas was killed in the Nostromo destruction...not by the Xenomorph)........Fifield would simply kill EVERYTHING...including your cat...for no reason.

So I do think the new monsters should be REALLY tough to kill....

Space Marine #1: "hmmm poor Xeno...What are you doing after work?"

Space Marine #2: "Taking the kids to the park and the wife shopping"

Space Marine #2: "..No problem...*BLAM* *BLAM* *BLAM*.."

Space Marine #1: "Wow! that was almost difficult....What are you doing after work?"

Space Marine #2: "Wife wants me to mow the lawn and clean the garage...."

I mean they need to bring some tension to these monsters. Space Marine proof them.

The series needs to explore the intelligence of xeno. In the first movie , the zeno was patient and didnt just crash the party right away. It waited till some one was alone. If it attatcked all 6 space truckers at once, they could have ganged up on it and blugend it to death or something. It stalked, picking off one by one.

In the sequel because there was dozens and dozens of aliens the the alien hive mind knew they could just overrun the Marines and they didn't care if some of them got shot and killed.

How smart are the xenos? I think their intelligence could be much more terrifying than their brute strength because you are right, they could just be shot and then it's over. however if they are smart enough to avoid being shot and hide in the dark corners for the right moment to strike, such as when you are sleeping ;), that could be more interesting.

I agree. The Xenos need to adapt. Humans will learn what they can and can't do...and probably learn to  just nuke the planets that have been infected. boring.

The Xeno strain on Acheron Lv426 is what it is....can't be changed...Alien and Aliens dealt with a certain type of facehugger...those movies are set in stone. That Xeno molecule is thousands of years old.

The new Xeno strains are probably far more advanced and maybe stored on LV223.

But I don't think they should deflate what happened in the Alien series. Need to probably clean up these new monsters in Prometheus series...then start the Xeno cycle again with Alien.

I only really like 1 and 2 of alien films although 1 was for me the only real alien movie. But after watching 1 and 2 I always expected it would lead to their home world or possibly earth I still cant believe we are only just about to see this after so many naff films. I imagined a more almost wildlife documantary type film in parts at one point as interesting as alien 1 but nothing. Anyway as long as the god like being is all its hyped up to be and in it of course its got to be a bonus I really hope they try to make it realistic this time though :S ...anyway my money is on there being a god like being and its the sorce of the xenos and unbelievably hard to kill and as intelligent as the entire engineer / elder race put together type scarey thingy with knobs on. :P I hope the start of the film is the whole elder empire vs this thingy locked in combat for thousands of years...

The Xeno acted Inteligent in Aliens too.....  The Xeno is and like it or hate it, it seems to be a Organism that has one purpose and that is to pro-create its own kind.... in essence they are like Ants...  The Organism can adapt and produce different kinds of itself for certain tasks that all lead to the procreation of its own kind.

Fifield... no comment i thought it was disapointing Toxic Avenger, Canon Fodder... one of the most disapointing concepts and execution i had seen in a franchise.... the idea of Spaights had more meaning.... ultimately it was to show what the Goo can do...

As far as the Engineers running away.... this is a big big mystrey still, evidence seems to show they was infected and that Ampule Room may have proved to be a safe haven for them.....

Spaights draft they was trying to kill themselves to stop the infection... yet the Last Engineer in that one had gone into Cryo Stasis to stop the process of a different infection as he was Face Hugged.

As far as what lies in wait for us, this depend on where they are going with this movie.. the rumours of Two Monsters....  is a puzzle as surely if they go to LV 223 then the potential is there for more than one kind of Organism and that discounts the Hammerpedes and Deacon.

As far as God..... there seems to be hints of a Plural God.... and also beings as in reference to Engineers,  a God refered to as actually Devil and the Engineers was refered to as Fallen Angels...

What this God is ... who knows..... is it a Race above the Engineers, or a being above them or even who is to say its even a being or race..... but what ever it is, it could be something a bit out there, a bit odd and shocking and certainly something that Shaw would not have ever imagined.

The person who had supposed info.... did say that the whole Agenda, and Hierarchy of this God/Gods (Devil) and Engineers is something very disturbing and is similar to unused elements from Star Beast (Agenda/Hierarchy) and it also has a Matrix and Blade Runner type feel/Agenda as far as the Hierarchy and Engineers connection to it all...

What that means.... and if its true... who knows...

Yeah I view the gods as plural, more of a pantheon/hierarchy of Gods and Titans -- like in the Greek/Sumerian myths.   "Gods don't build in straight lines".  The creators of the Engineers are in my opinion similar to the Titans in terms of how they fit the story: a story about separate factions of creators who are at war with each other. The Titan class may be responsible for seeding all the human genetics (they created us and the Engineers/Elders). Basically, the Titan class would be the pilots of the strange seed shaped craft that was hovering above the waterfall, overseeing the rituals of the Gods/Elders on Gaia/Ancient Earth.  In Aesop's fables we learn more about Prometheus.  I think all of Prometheus's mythical acts/deeds are important to the story.

I think David's read all the myths, he analyzed mankind's oldest stories when he was breaking down our ancient languages to their roots. So he's determined through a form of comparative mythology and deductive/inductive reasoning, plus literary analysis, that none of our stories/myths are entirely true; and humanity is slightly wrong about what was really going on in the past during their interactions with the gods/godkings.  It became fable/myth long before people wrote it down. For a long time we had no syllabic languages, only symbols. No word, only logos.  The religious symbolism may be mostly metaphor. Mostly.

The hierarchy might be compared to some of the hierarchies spoken of in the various world mythologies. I don't know if they're really angels... Don't know if Engineers are considered part of the angelic class, but they are perhaps "fallen angels". The Engineers may have once been considered helpers to the true creators.  However, I think it's Aliens themselves who fit the classification of angels better...  In the Dark Horse comics the Aliens were referred to as Destroying Angels.  It was revealed that traces of Alien DNA dating back to over 2 billion years ago were found in Australian shale deposits by paleontologists.  Dr. Keitel discovered that Aliens had been on Earth & went crazy, started worshiping them, and called them destroying angels.  He said he could "see the gears and wheels of the universe turning": that the Aliens were a necessary evil, a balancing force. To create, one must first destroy.

It might get into how the mind itself influences reality and "not minding" that it hurts: how what we think/perceive can influence how we view reality/the creators.  This would be part of the Matrix-like ideas, which may lead to Giger-esque biomechanical goddesses as well as the true creators at the top of the ladder.  Some are tall enough to reach without the ladder. But you might not want to climb Jacob's ladder like David does.  He learns that some of the beings in charge of the underlying programming of reality and human DNA are actually biomechanical goddesses...  There's too much competition at the very top, everyone's fighting to maintain their position or simply to exist at those levels. David has to ask himself, does he really wanna join the higher level immortals? Does he really wanna stand on stilts, or the shoulders of giants, to reach their levels and risk having his head knocked off again?  

The Engineers were "mortal after all", as David suspected, but he's "Immortal"; he will never grow old. He discovers that they can be killed, the Engineers and Elders at least (they age). The Engineers aren't immortal, omnipotent, or omniscient; so David secretly confirms to himself that they aren't the gods they're looking for early in the story. David & Shaw are on a quest to eventually find the true creators of the Engineer & human genetics.  After you analyze the data, the question becomes "well then who created the Engineers?".  The genetic match points towards the idea that whatever created them, created us as well.  

I will give that a good reply latter.....

But i wonder if there is ONE GOD or a being, Entity or Machine or even a Force that is this God..... or Devil.....

Or is there a race of biengs/Machines or Entities... or maybe it is a 3 Tier System....  One at the Top, then another Race/Group Below then our Engineers at 3rd stage of the Hierarchy?

Well Ridley hinted at one demi God and multiple levels below the creator we know as God in Christianity etc... So I'm expecting many many levels maybe hundreds but the film will only show a small percentage of course and stay fairly ambiguous...

I expect them to use parts of it and Alien 5 to fill in some of the Ambiguity from Prometheus with regards to the Xeno connection and LV 223 and maybe our creation... but then it would answer those with other things that would again be Ambigious.

As far as levels of Gods.... we cant be sure how that would be....   some Religons have ONE Divine God, who under them are another race of lower Gods, and in some cases their is a 3rd race of Gods well creations below that and finally Mankind...

But their are others where their is a Race of Higher Gods and a Race of Lower Gods.

Are we going to see that, or something different we cant be sure i guess only time will tell.

As far as offical i will cover what we know after this......

But we have had rumours and rumours, one that keeps popping up is this HELL ON EARTH which now sites are reporting that Ridley has denied this, but as far as i can see Ridley has not denied it and he has not confirmed it, the rumour is just that and taken from someone working on a new Predators movie.... looking logically at the main points of this Plot being that David and Shaw are heading to Earth and the company intercepts their Ship... this to me does not add up to what Ridley has said and it also would contradict the Alien Franchise as far as potential incontinuity problems...

Other rumours before this was that the company detects Shaws SOS and they wish to send a mission to discover what went down on LV 223 and they send a mission of mainly Androids... this could go hand in hand with the multiple Davids rumours from a while back... While nothing official has been confirmed on such a thing, it still remains a possible and plausible outcome at least as far as a part of the plot.  And i think a similar plot would certainly be something that seems very possible if not in Prometheus 2 then prehapse a Part 3.

The rumours that i released again are to be taken with a pinch of salt, but they kind of hint at a possibility of the above Mission to LV 223 and also do not seem far off what offical hints Ridley has left.

But i wont cover these as i have covered them in other posts

So as far as Offical News... Here again is what has been said offically...

1) A part of the movie will focus on (if not main focus) Shaw and Davids mission to find where these Engineers came from,  and get answers to why they created us, then why they built LV 223 and set off to destroy us and also to find out who created the Engineers.  Shaw still has a beleaf in God, just because it seems the Engineers played a part in our creation, she still wonders who CREATED THEM (Engineers).

2) David will have his head put back on, Shaw is stranded and can not get to where she wants to get to without Davids head going back on, and while she may have reservations ultimately David will persaude her to do so.

3) They will find some World or Outpost that is linked to the Engineers but what they find is not going to be what Shaw would have hopped for or expected and the beings they find are not Benevolent.  She was hopping to find God, find Paradise but the place they find is not Paradise but more of a Hell and the God/s she hopped to find are more like Devil/Fallen Angels. And they are not Gods not in the traditional sense.

4) The movie will show us New Species... this could be taken as meaning one new species and thus not Humans or Engineers or Xenos, but it could be the New Monster that has been officially anounced....  or it could be seperate from the Monster... Thus Species could mean they find another Race or Bieng... at the very least..

Ridley did say they did not want to meet God in the first movie but that they would do so in the 2nd combine this with the removal of the Elders Scene and how they said the Engineers are not God, logically means we are going to see at least One New Race and One New Monster how similar or different this new Race would be to our Engineers or the Xeno is unknown.

5) David is bringing Hell with him (Ships Cargo) Ridley asked what happens if the goo infects God (thus not Engineers) or a Machine which could imply the Gods are Machine to a degree or that a Mechanical Being could be infected... could it imply David infects himself or some beings they find on Paradise or where ever they end up.

6) There will be a New Monster, one that would be different to the ones we have seen in the Aliens Franchise and Prometheus of which the Deacon at the end is too close to the Xenomorphs in Alien Franchise... yet this monster will be a fresher take on the Original Monster so this has to be connected to the Xeno DNA in some way... and Ridley intends to make the Monsters in this movie more Scarier than the Alien Franchise.

7) The movie will be trying to step away from the Godlike connections to Mankind that the first movie had laid the foundations for.. maybe this means Beings who come and create and nurture and look after us and have us worship them as far as in the traditional sense of how Gods are reflected in the Bible and Greek and Egyptian Mythos.

But we are still going to see a connection of the Order of Creation, the Engineers played a part or at least was used to create us and we certainly had been visted and upgraded by them... But then something else may have created the Engineers for a purpose and the movie could well be going to show us the Hierarchy of the Engineers in Creation i.e purpose and Agenda to create us and purpose and Agenda of how the Engineers was created and that once revealed it would be something that is unlike the connections we have in Ancient Religons and Mythos between Gods and their Creations (Mankind).

 I think this covers what Ridley has mentioned so far about the movie and all this is in connection to the End of Prometheus where Shaw wants David to take her to where the Engineers come from for answers... and what they will find.

Will the whole movie revolve around just this Mission? who knows but we know for sure that a part of the movie at least will focus on Shaw and David going in search of the Engineers Homeworld and what they will find.

I will add that the 7 points above are what i have made from Ridleys exact comments i can provide his exact qoutes.... and they are from what he has said and also other cast members added together.

Only the last point 7) where i am making kind of a assumption... because Ridley said no more Gods and Dragons and $%£&"

But my point is still valid and indeed what is most likely to happen... this is because unless they are going to disregard everything Prometheus shown us.....  there are a few things that they can not get away from as regards to a God/Mankind Connection.  But then he could mean God as in traditional Sense i.e some race or beings that create us in their image who teach us stuff and we worship them as in the way the Bible and other cultures tell us about Gods..

But rather the purpose was slightly different but its our interpretations of interactions with the Engineers or Elders that led to these belief systems in context to the movie.

Here are the Facts that lead to them not being able to completely ignore the Gods $%£"&

1) Star Maps, is it purely coinsidence that Shaw and Holloway find via various Ancient Cultures who had no contact with each other, a what appears to be matching pictograms that show the same patern of what they assumed was a Star Map.

Somehow some Race of Giant Beings must have left clues or contact that led to these Civilisations drawing these Maps. This does not mean these beings came down and played the Role of God as the Bible and other Ancient beliefs depicted... but certainly some interaction had occuried between Mankind and the Engineers or some race connected to the Engineers.

2) The Engineer Language, David managed to communicate with the Engineer and at when David was alone on Prometheus he was learning some Ancient Language PIE and he even said he had studied Many Ancient Cultures.   In order for David to be able to speak to the Engineer then the Language David learnt must have either been taught Ancient Man or it was left behind by the Engineers and Mankind then discovered and learnt it... or vice versa.

3) DNA Match, Sacrifical Scene this Scene showed a Engineer seeding his own DNA for some purpose and while this does not have to be Earth it is how Engineers seed worlds, and the fact the movie tried to link our DNA to theirs and connect that we came from them, shows that they had created us.

4) Holloway and David had spoken in the movie regarding our creation and it being a experiment and anyone could do it all you need is a petri dish DNA and advanced knowledge... Holloway, Shaw and David had also had conversations about the Engineers role in creating us and thus there is no God and they may have created us because they could.

5) The movie hints that the Engineers had intended to come to Earth and use the Biological Mutagen upon Earth, the Engineer never gave much of a reason only David said that to sometimes to create one must first destroy.... this again shows a connection between the Engineers and Mankind.

Shaw will no doubt want to get answers from those Questions, which would be...

i) Why was we created?

ii) Why did they visit us and leave clues to find LV 223? and seem to play some role in our evolution and advancement?

iii) They wanted to destroy us well replace us why?

iV) The Engineers are not God but then who created them?

v) Why had none of them came back to LV 223 or Earth?

So i think these would be answered but the answers would not be what Shaw would have wanted, and i think they are not going to cover Engineers comming to Earth Acting as Gods like in the many Ancient Cultures etc and Religons...

But the underlying tones of the Engineers (or a Faction) playing a part that led to our creation and then comming back interact with Mankind and Teach us things would still hold key..  but it could be that the purpose of who ever created the Engineers or where ever they came from did not hold the same Agenda that we commonly associate with the portrayal of Gods in Ancient Culture and Religion.
