questions I ever heard
about the engineers.

They seem to exude the
whole range of emotional
responses that a human
can. so I guess it will
be above our 
understanding.
Maybe members of
MENSA will be able to 
Grasp their level
humor. But as to the
specifics your guess is
as good as mine.

Oduodu: A strange question probably but I think that there is room for different topics in a forum like this. At least the topic is related to the alien and the Engineers so it is not unrelated. I am curious and I like to have a laugh now and then.

Lone: That’s not really what I had in mind when I started the thread but as they say one goof leads to another. :D

Something real: Weird scientific formulas, he he. That seems like it could have been used as a joke in the Hitchiker’s guide to the galaxy.

It is fun to discuss things that are not talked about here very often like some sort of variation but still related to the Xeno and Engineers. As far as goofy things go we all need to have a laugh now and then. To those that feel like continuing the thread please feel free to do so, it interesting to see what people think about things. Remember: we all need to have a laugh now and then because it makes life feel easier.

I do hope we learn much more about the Engineers in Covenant. 

If they are merely pawns of a higher power, perhaps their emotions have been repressed. The events of Prometheus may have been a catalyst. I see them as being like David. They are now free of their makers, whether by design or rebellion.

Emotions long withhel, being discovered and released...so now anything can happen!

Lone: They claimed in Prometheus that the Engineers were very close to human beings as far as the DNA goes if I am not mistaken. Maybe this means that they express emotions too and that these emotions are close to human emotions plus that they are intelligent. With this in mind they might have some sort of humor but the way that it is built up how it is structred within the Engineers might not be the same as it is with human beings. Humor has got to do with thinking and intelligence and if the thinking of the Engineers is different compared to human beings then maybe they humor might mean something different to them.

I think it must be very complex
humor. Maybe the way one
engineer flies a juggernaut as
opposed to another. Maybe they
have  music as a form of
Interacting with their tech and 
lets say one of them isn't 
particularly good at playing
the flute.

Maybe some of them cannot
see in all the spectrum that
the others can.

Who knows. 

Maybe they can understand
concepts well beyond ours .

It be hard to explain it I guess.

Oduodu: Yeah I don't think that humor is the first thing that you think about when it comes to the Engineers. They don't seem very friendly in the movie so when you think about humor you might imagine a nice person that is fun not one that is grumpy at some race that they think is a failure.

What if they go out there and create worlds (build and destroy) and then when they get home to see their friends (assuming that something like friendship exists in their world) and meet eachother they laugh their asses of to something. Maybe they don't laugh but smile or make some strange noise? Laughing is human so the Engineers might do something else if they even have that in the movie which I really doubt. This something would be interesting to know something about but maybe that would remove the mistery about the Engineers and make them more human well at least it is entertaining to think about it. Some things might be better to leave up to the imagination.

Humor is linked to intelligence (you can read about it at science pages) so it might depend on how intelligent they are. Maybe there are more intelligent Engineers there that tend to laugh more at X and there are less intelligent Engineers that tend to laugh at Y or maybe they are as smart as each other and have a fairly smiliar sense of humor. Compared to humans they might have a sense of that which is connected their higher intelligence if they are smarter than human beings.

I do think they may have a sense of humor. 

As creators I'm sure they poke fun at whatever they potentially create or spawn...scientist studying ignorantly like Frankenstein or kids with a magnifying glass to ants... and  from them stealing "fire" from THEIR own gods they must be a little arrogant since they are malevolent to humans. they are giants aswell who play flutes and are pilots...surely they may have a sort of brotherhood or bond when exporting this cargo.
