What REALLY happened to Amanda Ripley?
Centauri
MemberPraetorianJun-13-2016 7:56 AMHey Scifiedheads!
I always wondered what REALLY happened to Amanda Ripley? Did she live the rest of her life after the age of 11 to 66 as said by Burke? Did Amanda have a family of her own? (despite her dependents listed as NIL)?
Seems anything with Burke's signature on it would be a fluke.
Or was she a victim of Weylandyutani's manipulation, off world missions and (or) experiments? Was she "taken out"? Was her natural death staged in order to convince Ripley she had noone to return home to?
It's a wild coincidence Amanda's death date is a day shy from christmas, becoming parallel to Elizabeth Shaw's arrival on lv423 and her alien birth in Prometheus.
Was ripley a single mother?
Who was Amanda's father?
Could Ripley have been an android all along?
please go crazy and share your thoughts :)

MemberChestbursterJun-13-2016 8:57 AMWell, just the other day I was thinking that Burke was lying to Ripley when he told her that Amanda died at age 66. It isn't a super solid theory, but I can see it happening.
Since Amanda was involved in the events of Alien: Isolation and possibly something else (you know, with the open ending) I think it is very plausible that she died at a much earlier age than let on. Now, Burke did show Ellen a supposed picture of Amanda in Aliens. That could be fake, but I would think that Ellen would be able to recognize her daughter even after so long in cryo-sleep.
But yes, I have a suspicion that Ellen did not survive to age 66 and die in Nebraska or whatever.
Oh hey random thought! This is highly unlikely, but sounds cool to me nonetheless. We know from concept art of Alien 5 that WY seems to have acquired engineer and xenomorph technology and specimens and what not. What if Amanda was part of the reason that they managed to get their hands on that stuff?
Hopefully there is a game or even book sequel to A:I, and maybe it could be the story of Amanda going through whatever with the company and Aliens and what not and she ends up dead and WY comes out with exactly what they were looking for? If Ripley's mother is indeed in A:C and Ripley is about the same age that her daughter when she (Ellen) was on the Nostromo, then the mother daughter connection is becoming a really big part of the Alien franchise.
Even though I didn't like the idea of Amanda being featured in Isolation (when I first heard about the game), I thoroughly enjoyed her character and journey, so I think it is one worth finishing and having the impact of her final adventure (for lack of better words) influencing Alien 5 would be awesome.

MemberChestbursterJun-13-2016 9:00 AMI feel like that is a long shot because the director may not really pay attention to the game when crafting his story. Still, it does connect with the first movie (obviously) and Alien 5 is more connected to the first two movies and Amanda was introduced in Aliens, so maybe he did look at what her story is so far

MemberPraetorianJun-13-2016 9:03 AM@cuponator3000 very cool observation! Good theory about Amanda being somehow a (late) connection for Alien 5 breeding, experiments, study and captivity of the xenomorph lifeforms. As far as amanda in Alien Isolation, I have heard great things about it, even though I'm not a crazy gamer, i really want to own the game one of these days! ;)

MemberFacehuggerJun-13-2016 11:19 AMWould be pretty interesting how the Series connects the dots btwn Amanda Ripley & Alien 5 (if there are any) ^_^

MemberDeaconJun-13-2016 3:09 PMIndeed i wonder if Alien 5 would mention anything about Amanda? Could do.
I would assume Ripley would Adopt Newt and so a conversation between them could bring up her real daughter and what may have really happened... if they are bring the Game into it as Canon, then Ripley maybe would find out years after Aliens that her Daughter had a history with LV-426 after Ripley had left there in 2122.

MemberNeomorphJun-13-2016 4:23 PMHang about; on the tablet, in the OP image, it says -
"Deceased: 12/23/20."
The events of ALIEN happened in 2122, so wouldn't Amanda/Amy be a little girl then?
The poster was good though!

MemberXenomorphJun-13-2016 4:57 PMA lot of (if not all) the on screen dates in Aliens don't match the date mentioned in dialogue.
BigDave
MemberDeaconJun-13-2016 5:05 PMI cant make that out from that image, and so will have to look at my Blu-ray or DVD of Aliens.
But i am sure Amanda died in 2077? and was born in 2112?

MemberOvomorphJun-14-2016 12:58 AM@bladerunnergunner Alien Isolation is an excellent game. Get some headphones and play the game at night when its dark and you'll love it. Best atmosphere in a game i've ever experienced.
Viddy well, little brother. Viddy well.

MemberDeaconJun-14-2016 7:49 AMLOL yeah SM... i meant 2177 Death, and Born about 10 years prior to Alien so about 2112 give or take which would fit with the Actual June 24th 2111 date.
As i have not played Alien Isolation lol and i am going from what i remember as being said Ripleys Daughter was born about 10 years prior to when she left for the Warrent Officer Position. But i could be a bit sketchy with that... and so thanks for clearing up the Actual Dates.

MemberNeomorphJun-14-2016 12:57 PM@BigDave; I haven't played it myself yet. However, a couple of months back, i was intrigued to see the reviews on youtube. I watched a review and was then taken to "Alien Isolation Movie." Since I thought that I would probably never get the chance to play it, I thought, 'why not.'
I watched it and actually quite enjoyed it. It's made up of mainly cut scenes from the game....
The poster was good though!

MemberNeomorphJun-14-2016 1:07 PMHere's a link to it Alien Isolation: Movie if anyone's interested in seeing it.
The best part starts at around 50:45. The LV426 scenes.
The poster was good though!

MemberXenomorphJun-14-2016 3:31 PMIt's definitely worth playing. I was very sceptical when they said Amanda was going to be the main character, but they really made it work.

MemberOvomorphJun-15-2016 8:45 AM@cuponator3000 Neil Blompkamp already praised the game, so hopefully he will integrate Amanda in Alien 5.
It only took 35 years to make a true Alien game, it really is a gem.
