IS this really a Xenomorph? I think so, but also think it could be something else

I'm sure it'll look different to the original.  Every other iteration has.  The mouth on this one looks more like the Fiorina creature.

Yes definitely it is different head and teeth,we have to wait and see the complet shap and size of it.

personaly I can see some unusual mark on top and side of its head.

S.M is right, in every movie the xenomorph has had a difference in its look.

I believe that this is one of the xenomorphs.

I suppose thats the classic xenomorph but its slighty different from the 1979 xenomorph.It doesnt have to be 100% the same as the original 1979 design.

Also If im not mistaken the Fiorina xenomorph had more red brownish skin.That one on the poster looks black.

I edited the image a bit,looks like the Big chap (if you ask me).

I'm seeing something between the classic Xeno and the Deacon.  Hard to say for sure but it does look like a collar bone and rib cage (?) under the head.  The teeth also seem more organic than the original - and definitely more 'worn'.

  It does appear to have the xeno mouth though unlike the Deacon . . .

  Whether, as an audience, we have this presented as the 'xeno' or an offshoot will be interesting, as will how this one came to be and where the other (neomorph?) new aliens come in to the tale . . .

I'm sad that we won't be getting a Deacon. I think that monster is actually really interesting. It's a shame they won't explore it. That being said, I think what Deep Space said is interesting, how it could be a cross between Xeno and Deacon. Maybe it's a midway evolution, then at the END we get the classic Xeno? Anyway the poster sure doesn't look like the white, bulging headed Xenos from the "spores"

To me its less Bio-Mechanical than the 1979 Xeno... and it looks like a mix of the Alien 3 and Alien R Xenomorph

BigDave, I agree. I think he looks like that combo too. The biomechanical elements aren't there. But that could be the shadows or because it's basically 2017 and the xenomorph changes a little in almost every movie. I guess it also depends on what the host was. This one looks like a xeno pure breed. I have some crazy theory now that Fox released some more info. I'm gonna see if I can post it as another thread question. It basically concerns David...

This is where i covered all we have officially known and been shown with regards to any Xenomorphs in the movie... but the thread is open to discuss other possible Aliens too.

The information i gave from official sources could point to One and Same Monster... but then they could be for different ones too... i dont think this movie is going to show us the Covenant discovers some Eggs and well away we go.. just as happened in Alien and Aliens. I think thats one element.... but i think they have some other designs and ideas they will also show us.
