Scene begins with a view outside the complex, ferocious storms covering a dark mountainous landscape...we fade through the complex exterior into a room where carter getting suited up to begin her trip to the cave system on planet where the egg had been extracted earlier..."carter reporting in" she reports to the mysterious person behind the radio.." First light in four minutes, will commandeer a buggy and make my way to target area...charges are set in research complex ,they shall detonate once I've put in access code costing  minimal loss of civilian life".

"God I pray this is the right thing to do"

" There are no alternatives carter" the voice on the other side attempts to console..

" if the company manage to contain the beast and study it enough there is no telling what hell could be unleashed on our race" " it has to be done, if they bring that thing home we r all dead"

Part 4                                                                                                                                                               Upon taking her leave from Nora Chambers,Sonya returned to her cabin on the big rig.Of course she couldn't blame Chambers for her suspicions,but she was here on company orders and they didn't include her.Of course she sabotaged the big rigs airlock,after what happened to Willits they would never allow her to bring another egg back on board.The egg,kept safely in the decontam unit,she hid away in her quarters.For now there it would remain.In the mean time her assistance back At Horizon base was required.Before the return to base,she relayed a message to the company through a secure channel.                                                                                                               -Acquired ovamorph,awaiting further instructions.                                                                                           -Message received:Keep subject hidden until further notice.                                                                               -Science officer Michael Willits infected by subject known as Facehugger.Awaiting further instructions.                                                                                                         -Science officer status?                                                                                     -In cryo sleep,awaiting surgical removal of Facehugger subject.Awaiting further instructions.                                                                                                         -Dr. Reynolds?                                                                                                     -Quarantined.Instructions?                                                                               -Sabotage cryo.Allow xenomorph subject to birth.                                                                                                   -And the crew?                                                                                                   -Observe and collect data on the xenomorph.Crew is considered secondary and expendable.                                                                             -Instructions received.End message.                                                                                                             While Sonya didn't necessarily like her companions,she wasn't certain about how she felt about her instructions.It wasn't part of her programing to allow her harm or allow harm to come to them,but orders were orders.She knew now why some of her parameters had been reprogrammed.She was about to shut off her computer when she noticed she had one more order.                                                                                                           -Secondary orders.Previous Horizon crew informs us of a potential new item.Subject is described as a cylinder shaped urn.The contents inside are described as a thick black oily substance.Possible links to the xenomorph.Aquire if possible.Where abouts believed to be within same network of caves where the ovamorph was discovered.End message.                                                                                                                                                 Very little about Dark Horizons previous crew had been revealed to her.She was aware of what they had been looking for and that there had been a few casualties,thus the relief crew.But this was new to her.She hadn't been made previously aware of these urns.This changed things significantly.                                                                                                                                                                 Part 4 first half end

Hmmm...ALIEN: Manticore is 9 chapters long, thus far, won't fit here as when It's done, it'll likely be 10 chapters with Prologue and Epilogue.

Here's an excerpt from ALIEN: Manticore; Paradise. It's a work-on-hold, as to go any further than the landing of the Science Expedition's shuttle, I need to see COVENANT to stay on-track with Canon.

PROLOGUE

Manticore had travelled out from Shadowfall, now clear of the more problematic celestial dynamics that the system was famous for and ready to engage it’s hyperdrive for the long voyage ahead.
Captain Sinjihnn Du’Maur was the only crewmember of the vessel still awake, the rest had entered hypersleep earlier along with the passengers who formed the science team they were bringing along. The ship was running entirely on it’s own auto-systems overseen by the ship‘s Virtual Intelligence, making him superfluous at the present time as he would be for the long trip ahead of them. He enjoyed this time, it gave him time to think, to review preparations one last time, spot overlooked details,
He and his friend, Jean McDormand had spent a few weeks finding qualified people who Vetted out as being able to keep their mouths shut and had no issues with participating in an unlicensed interstellar expedition setting out for a world extremely far away from the colonized systems.

The secrecy had been paramount, as he wanted to keep all the details under wraps and spare himself and his crew having to deal with some ego-driven Corporate rivals. There was also the concern of how insanely dangerous what they were heading out to find could possibly be, and how irresponsible corporations could be in evaluating ‘acceptable risk’. Thus, he and Jean had played things very close to the chest, employed a plausible cover story, and kept up a level of obfuscation in their communications second-to-none. It had been a significant pain, but success or failure always relied on details, often the small ones. Such was also the reasoning behind the significant investment in upgrading and advancing Manticore’s armament and combat capabilities.
The stars beckoned, and once again his ship would be sailing amongst them while he slept the sleep of the near-dead along with the people most important to him. The bridge was quiet, only a few indicators showed signs of machine-life, and he could hear the faint sound of air through the ventilation grilles in the ceiling above him. He took a moment to consider the enormity of what they were setting out to do; Challenge The Gods.

He felt no fear, no trepidation. He looked forward to it, to making sure the species that Dr. Elizabeth Shaw had named ‘Engineers’ knew they had Humanity’s eye on them, and knew of their aggressive nature. He wanted to make it very clear to them that Humanity was not some helpless planet-bound bunch of primitive peoples any longer, but stood on the same level as their creators, able to challenge them, and able to defeat them should they raise a hand against Humanity.
As he finished that thought, Manticore engaged it’s hyperdrive, and as it accelerated to, then beyond the speed of light, the star field ahead compressed, blue-shifted--appearing as a trillion pinpoints of painfully bright blue light for an instant--before expanding to appear normal again save for the slight but definite motion of some stars in the edges of the field of view. A glow began as the forward edge of the hyperdrive field encountered the interstellar medium at Faster-than-light speed, exciting the sparse hydrogen atoms to higher quantum states, shrouding the vessel in a corona of dim Cerenkov phantom-light.

With the engagement of the hyperdrive, the Captain casually patted a nearby console in a purely anthropomorphic gesture and made his way out, on his way to join the rest of his crew in the coldly peaceful embrace of hypersleep.

To all members old and new- write something and throw it on here. The only rules are that you stay within the confines of the forum rules and that it relates to this universe. It can be prose, poetry, even music if you are able to do it. Give it a shot!

To those of you thinking of posting your efforts, but still remain afraid to, there's nothing to be afraid of. I finally figured that out recently, and always remember that Good or Bad comments you can Learn from.

That said, there's a very accepting audience here, so take a chance, post, see what happens as you just never know until you actually try, and our own self-doubts are our biggest enemies.

Just got to the point where Jacob is conversing with the android after waking up.

It flows very well, the phrasing and such as well as the details immediately create a solid mental imagery and a sense of depth even this early into the story!
