Ranking The Alien films from best to worst

My opinion of Alien: covenant might be a 5/5 based on evidence and the trailer I watched :)

Avpr i pretend i never saw it..but they gave us the best and most badass predator seen till now

And a nice unexpected scene

1) Alien

2) Aliens (but its close)

3) Prometheus (could have had potential to be Number 1)

4) Alien 3 regardless of cut

5) Alien Resurrection.

AVP not considered, if so then AVP maybe tie with Alien Resurrection and AVPR no Comment lol... only Alien movie i never seen all the way... kept shutting off and i watched it once... and dont remember more than 50% and not been bothered to see it again lol

If had throw whole lot in... then its...

Alien, Predator, Aliens, Prometheus, Alien 3, Predator 2, Alien Resurrection, AVP and well i guess AVPR but i pretend that never happened lol

Then im tempted to swap Alien for Predator i would say they are tied.... and same goes for AVP and AR i think they are tied...

A L I E N- My favourite film of all time, and alongside BladeRunner and 2001, the 3 greatest Sci-fi movies ever made!

PROMETHEUS- There is no denying Ridley Scotts artistic brilliance, PROMETHEUS showcases some of his best work. So close to perfection. Sadly, some bad editing choices were made. Script shortcomings resulted in vagueness and characters coming across as idiotic rather than the irrational, egotistical, and unbalanced people they were. Needed at least a 3 hour running time. I blame the meddling FOX!

A L I E N 3- There's no denying the production was a horrific mess and I absolutely hate what ADI did with Gigers concept. Yet somehow David Fincher still managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat. My appreciation of it has grown with the passage of time.

A L I E N S- From the first time I saw it I was mad as hell because of the cheesy characterisation and how it diminished the horror and mystery of the Alien. It's moved further down my ranking over the years...and I'm still mad as hell! :D

A L I E N Resurrection- Did they have to? Resurrect her I mean. ADI managed to create the worst looking Alien Universe creature ever to grace a movie screen. Well, I guess it does have some comedic value. 

AvP- Do I have to include this? LOL Very bad mashup of two great Franchises.

AvPR- Now you really gotta be kidding me, just how bad can a mashup get?!

Interesting ranking Lone, but do you really think the Newborn is the worst looking Alien creature ever? Worse than the Predalien? Even worse than all of those direct to VHS b-film cliché monsters spanning from the 70s to the early 90s that you've seen? Is it THAT bad iyo?

Yeash, it's so ugly and clumsy. Put youself in the MORBs creators {H.R Giger} shoes, now how would you feel seeing that monstrosity {in the worst sense of the word} up on the screen?

Aliens is just too slick and dated. It really shows its age and there's just something about it that I don't like across its whole aesthetic. It's too "kid oriented". I liked it as a kid...heck I LOVED it, but again, it gets less and less "good" to me every time I watch it.

The original "Alien", however, is like a fine wine: it just gets better and better, and will never be dated. It holds up just fine and has "that" feel that gets you from the inside out.

And that ridiculous, God Awful Alien Baby in Alien Rez is single handedly the worst creature in the history of the Alien (& Pred, for that matter) Universe. Dreadful. A 2 year old could've designed that piece of Shite.

The only thing the Newborn got right was knocking Queenies head off!

Newborn stands to me as the most frightning alien to date after deacon.

Still neomorph in adult form has potential to surpass it

Ok Lone from that (Giger's) perspective I can see that possibility, then again a lot of artists and designers can tend to look down on other people's works anyway.

For me the Newborn, although more or less a ripoff, is at least an ambitious attempt at a bit of redesigning something new and different after a series of xenomorphs seen previously.

Those eyes....wouldn't they scare you if the Newborn stood right beside your bed and woke you up in middle of the night?

Just Alien movies- Alien number 1 just by a hair, #2 Aliens(I like the special edition better than the theatrical cut but would still be number 2), #3 Alien 3, #4 AVP, #5 Resurrection (don't like it) and never saw Requiem and will never see it so obviously last. Adding the Predator movies, #1 Alien, #2 Aliens, #3 Alien 3, #4 Predator, #5 Predators, #6 AVP, #7 Resurrection, #8 Predator 2 and obviously the terd I never saw last.

Thank you Dr. Curt Connors!I agree on Aliens special edition.The very first time i saw it i was 12 years old and had already loved the movie for years.Ever since i watched the special edition i haven't watched the theatrical version once!

I also enjoy Predators more than predator 2

@ninXeno426  Yeah I don't think I will watch the theatrical cut of Aliens ever again either. Yeah I like Predators and I just saw I forgot Prometheus. Put Prometheus where Resurrection is on the Alien list and then with Predator movies included put it where Resurrection is also and slide the other two back a spot.

So Prometheus would be number 5 and 7 respectively.

I posted the same rankings on another forum so it may look familiar...If I had to rank them (Sans AVP & Prometheus, which I both enjoy cuz' I'm diehard fan), it would be:

1. Alien - Yessir! This is how you make a horror movie with a  Sci-Fi flavor.

2. Aliens - Macho action-packed film with well-fleshed out characters. A good formula for success.

3. Alien 3- Well done, I just think the premise was limited being confined to the Prison. Chance to do so much more..

4. Alien 4(Resurrection) Good until they introduced that stupid muppet-looking, human-alien hybrid thing. This is the only time I ever got irritated with the series.

The AVP series is not as great but i still like them. Prometheus is also an underappreciated film that just didn't hit it's potential. I anxiously await AC to make up for those deficiencies.

As far as Alien and Aliens, I an old enough to remember standing in line for hours waiting for a ticket. The people coming out of the movie were just blown away...almost in the way Star Wars did folks back in the 70's..My personal feeling is that think people have forgotten just how good the first two movies really were....

If we include Prometheus, it comes in slightly after Aliens 3...

No matter how you slice it, Alien is and always be numero uno for me..

aliens deserves first place, it was an incredible comeback to Ridley Scott's Alien, with more action and even the favored xenomorph queen.

@ninXeno426   Yeah I had forgot Prometheus. And Aliens is so close to Alien. They're both so good and I know Aliens is your favorite movie of all time if I remember correctly from reading on here. When I say a hair separates Alien and Aliens it really is the truth and you're welcome.
