MemberPraetorianJan-30-2017 11:03 PMNever in the franchise have we seen a chestburster successfully removed from its host.In Alien 3 they say they're going to take it out of Ripley but she doesn't let it happen. In Resurrection Ripley's queen is removed but it's part of the cloning process. There's also Purvis who also doesn't live long enough for it to be removed.Aliens Colonial Marines claims they can't be removed because the chestbursters leave tumors, but i disregard that because it's not canon. So can they?If Ash wasn't hiding it could they have removed it and saved Kane from his fate?

MemberOvomorphJan-30-2017 11:26 PMaha!....if it grows in the stomach or lung your odds are badly damaged from the jump.....gonna bet resurrection is the example....fully developed adult human with a fully developed alien inside!! ....removal successful!
ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-30-2017 11:30 PMThose are also special circumstances with her being a clone. They had one hell of a time trying to clone her and the queen separately.

MemberTrilobiteJan-30-2017 11:42 PMIt would depend on where the embryo is placed. If in the lungs, detected early enough, it might be removed by sawing the sternum open heart surgery style to access- but then the surgeon would have to go inside the lung to remove. I would guess survivable but lower lung capacity long term.
If abdominally. Maybe cutting into the stomach to remove. Possible survival with possible temporary colostomy depending where the embryo was placed. ???

MemberPraetorianJan-30-2017 11:46 PMIm not sure if I've heard of them in the stomach.I keep thinking of Aliens were there were multiple victims of the facehuggers.Surely they tried to remove them from the host.

MemberNeomorphJan-30-2017 11:50 PMif the xeno has shown us one thing it is adaptable and I would guess NO. I wouldn't completely disregard CM as it does raise a very interesting theory towards this topic, though I get what ur saying about it not being canon. u cant remove a face hugger without killing the host so id say the species has found away that either they complete the process or they kill the host. makes for one hell of a dilemma. CM did give a plausible theory on the gestating xeno though
ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-30-2017 11:57 PMI read that if the facehugger doesn't strangle the host,or use acid,it's pretty much going to rip there face off.

MemberNeomorphJan-31-2017 12:03 AMthat's what I read. it was original scripted to have suckers like an octopus and when it fell of and died, kane was meant to have the marks all over his face. bishop in aliens says they killed on of the colonists while trying to surgically remove the hugger. I just think the xeno will be much the same. if it senses danger it will kill the host
ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-31-2017 12:08 AMNever thought about it that way,the xeno killing the host.Do you mean like a premature birth?

MemberNeomorphJan-31-2017 12:17 AMyes. wev all pretty much agreed the xeno has some form of telepathy. if it senses danger, it may abort the process, killing both itself and the host. it may release a toxin upon death
ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-31-2017 12:22 AMI've also read it not even an embryo to start. That it pulls a lot from the hosts dna.

MemberOvomorphJan-31-2017 12:52 AMHi friends. I agree it's an intriguing question.
Not only do I believe they could be removed I believe if you have a buck knife and the Constitution you be able to perform the surgery on yourself. I would love to see that in a future alien movie. I base this on the fact that the aliens tend to immobilize their victims with the resin so as not to allow them to harm the embryo.
Also let's not forget Shaw and the squid like creature that was successfully removed via surgery in Prometheus there was no lethal dose of acid injected into her abdominal cavity or other traumatic life ending event that the creature did while inside of her even though it was aware if it has cognizant abilities of the fact that it was being taken out.
In my opinion based on information provided in novels and the actual alien films the chestburter can be successfully removed. Not even necessarily with that futuristic uber Medical Technology but whith a simple in and out procedure like an labral tear or more onvolved appendectomy or tonsillectomy that are performed today. Every time an attempt was made to remove the chestburster usually subterfuge or clandestine measures where used in order to protect the priceless resource by the company or an android.
Host always expendable.
We're not talking about facehuggers were talking about the actual chestburster it seems that those who were studying it wanted to make sure like a egg with a chick in it or turtle that could be harmed by human interference it wasn't to come in contact with an unnatural source that might cause the specimen to die.

MemberXenomorphJan-31-2017 12:53 AMThey did it in Resurrection, so yes they can be surgically removed.

MemberTrilobiteJan-31-2017 1:01 AMSM
Correct. That was a controlled environment. My impression was that it might be in a situation such as Alien. That was my impression anyway.

MemberXenomorphJan-31-2017 1:04 AMDepends. One would think they could've tried it at Hadley but there's no indication they were successful.
River of Pain deals with the infestation, and it all happens to quickly they never really get a chance.
If they knew what was happening in Alien, there's a chance they could've removed it (assuming the autodoc could perform surgery).
ali81
MemberNeomorphJan-31-2017 1:07 AMtrue, AR shows us that it can be removed. but id ask at what stage r we talking about? say halfway through the process, could it be surgically removed without killing the host? the burster in AR may have been at the stage of getting ready to burst through ripleys chest at the point of extraction so the host had done its job so survived
Neomorph
MemberChestbursterJan-31-2017 1:08 AMS.M indeed,
Also, didn't the Med Pod in Spaiths Alien Engineers script remove a chestburster from Shaw or was it a facehugger?
ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-31-2017 1:11 AMWilliam Gibson's Wooden Planet script had one forcibly pushed up out through Ripley's throat.

MemberChestbursterJan-31-2017 1:15 AMYes, I would say that it would be reasonable that you can remove it surgically (like Shaw does with her "baby")?
ali81
MemberNeomorphJan-31-2017 1:21 AMxeno, of all the alien3 scripts iv read gibsons' was the best by quite a bit and I believe that was finchers' preferred choice aswell
neo yes it does. it slithers over the bed and after watts comes to, it kills and feeds on a personal guard who is hidden on the ship when he comes in. watts (shaw) kills it

MemberPraetorianJan-31-2017 1:22 AMThe trilobite is pretty different though.

MemberNeomorphJan-31-2017 1:26 AMI liked the trilobite but the enormous size of it was my only issue. ok make it bigger than normal hugger but I felt it was a bit too big
ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-31-2017 1:32 AMI like the trilobite too. It's size was inspired by Giger's early facehugger concepts. There was another thread some time back where people were talking about how stupid it was.
Nothing the God of biomechanics wouldn't let you in heaven for
ali81
MemberNeomorphJan-31-2017 1:35 AMwouldn't say stupid, was designed to resemble the hugger we know yet differ due to it being a berthed hugger instead of from an egg
ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-31-2017 1:38 AMI've heard it might be in Covenant. Can't wait to see what they do with it if that's true.

MemberNeomorphJan-31-2017 1:41 AMI think a lot of people, though through time have found logical plotholes in Prometheus, r overly criticle due to ridley changing his mind about it being a direct alien prequel and due to him coming out originally and saying that it was going to be an alien prequel, naturally, they watched the film as it was originally intended and doing it that way, the movie isn't as good. I first thought 'that isn't the derelict' and 'how r they going to go from lv223 to the derelict on a different planet'? but I accepted wer a long way off that stage so watched it again as a stand alone movie with hints towards alien n I thoroughly enjoy Prometheus now
ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-31-2017 1:49 AMI love Prometheus,i ranked it third. It was pretty easy for me to except for what it was.Not everybody gets.I saw it with my dad and my brother. The first thing my dad said was "was that the ship from Alien" i don't think he got it.I've also watched it with my mother. She doesn't like it either,i also don't think she gets it.I've talked to her about Covenant and shes pretty much written it of because of its connection to Prometheus.

MemberNeomorphJan-31-2017 1:57 AMI know ridley had intended more movies but he did say further movies were down to the success ($$$$$$$$$$) of Prometheus but I don't think he ever made it to be a one off movie. I for one cant wait for AC. im sure it will live upto the hype. think ridley has been itching to go back to his roots and give us another alien style, dark, claustrophobic movie
ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-31-2017 2:02 AMThe thing i told my dad was that it was the first of a two part series because that was the initial plan.Things Of course have changed a bit since 2012.
