XX121 and the year 2122 in ALIEN
Ati
MemberPraetorianFeb-07-2017 3:23 PMI believe that every Alien fan knows the code xx121 and is familiar with the fact that the events of Alien take place in the year 2122 when the Nostromo crew has to face death.
The question is very simple: is there a link between the code and the year of the possible discovery (2121)? The code of the lifeform is drawn from the year it was discovered?

MemberDeaconFeb-08-2017 6:22 AMMaybe SM can answer this...
But we need to not read into 121 to much as who knows how the number system works.
Does it mean this is number 121 of the Xeno Organisms they have found? I doubt in context to Alien Franchise they have found at least another 120 different Black Goo related Organisms but the potential for how many life forms come from this Agent in the Urns is limitless.
It could mean simply they have detected 121 Alien life forms, on other worlds. Many most likely just basic life forms.
XX121 is just a number given to one of the Life Forms that have been encountered by Mankind so far.
At the time of Aliens the Xenomorph was the most complex life that Mankind had detected in the Galaxy (off course at the time they never covered the Engineers). But at the time of Aliens they never said they had never found life before. Just not complex life.
We have to remember the term Xenomorph simply just means a Alien Form or Alien Species and so a Life Form Alien to Earths.

MemberDeaconFeb-09-2017 1:15 PMBut is he a David? or a Walter?
What will he be keeping from us?
Joke SM ;)
it will be interesting to see how the number system works.
But then maybe its a oversight, and we should not look into it much like when we try and figure why the HELL was LV-223 called that when it was a Moon around the same planet that LV-426 was... why not LV-423 or LV436 which the 4 donates the Planet... or System and next digit Planet etc.

MemberXenomorphFeb-09-2017 1:33 PMTo my knowledge, the number is simply arbitrary. I advised using the previously used 'Internecivus Raptus' designation during the production of WYR, but they went with this instead.

MemberPraetorianFeb-09-2017 3:58 PMBigDave -- David or Walter? I'll tell you in May. :)
As for the other moons of the gas giant, do you know the names/numbers of them? Ahhh... I'll put the question in a thread.
