Queen life span

I don't any problem with a Queen living for thousands of years if in cryosleep.

Without cryosleep - no idea.

I think in River of Pain the Jordens find a dead Queen and Engineer - but don't quote me.  Been a while since I read it.

Yes like S.M said there were like 7 Engineers that killed a few aliens but one Engineer killed the queen with his bare hands. It's a good book IMO.

Thanks, I have one as well. I look at it everyday thinking how crazy it would be if they added aliens like them in the future movies.

I was always under the impression that Aliens didn't really die off because of old age. They seem to enter a dormant state when all the hosts are used up. I wouldn't be surprised if a Queen could survive indefinitely.

It really is a big Question, we dont really know for certain the Life-Span of the Xenomorph or Queen, i would assume if they was Engineered as a Weapon then unless they are basically like a Nuke... where the aim is to destroy with great damage and limited chance of survival..  Then having a longer life span would be ok.

If they was a clean up Weapon, then its a case of you would want them to have a limited life span.   Because otherwise its like using a Nuke on a Country you wish to take over, you would be left with a very very long time before you could go down and in-habit the place you Nuked due to Fall-Out.

*Was the Queen a unexpected evolution of the Bio-Weapon?

Or was it just some Lifeform that was Engineered to be used as a Weapon, be that they Engineered it from something else they thought this would be a great weapon..    So it would be like say some future Nation decided to go bonkers and reverse Engineer Bird DNA to produce some Raptor Type Dinosaurs and simply use them to kill off a Population?

If we ignore the Weapon Route... and look at the Organism as a Hive or how Aliens showed it.

Then it really depends how long does a Xenomorph naturally live for?

Termite Queens can live for 25X longer than normal Termites, Ants vary but a Queen usually lives 15-25X longer than normal Ants.

But it depends if the Xeno borrows off this Bug idea, so if a Xeno can live just say a Month that does not mean to say a Queen lives for few years.

A Xeno could have just weeks, but a Queen could have many decades, its hard to figure really as i dont think the movies give us any real definite idea of Life Span of the Xenomorph or Queen.

I dont read many of the Books so i cant comment on if they give more clues or if these clues are then Canon.
