MemberPraetorianFeb-11-2017 1:44 PMA lot of fiction is filled with corrupt, greedy corporations.INGEN,Umbrella,Shinra inc,Aperture Science,UAC,and of course Weyland-Yutani.What does this say about real corporations, are they just as corrupt and greedy?Does mankind have a god complex? And seriously, look at some of those corporations i mentioned, the things they try to do always,ALWAYS,end in catastrophe. They always try things that just out of reach for mankind. They then seemingly achieve the impossible only for it to back fire spectacularly. And then they'll try again no matter what the cost.Weyland-Yutani for example just doesn't seem to understand just how dangerous the xenomorph really is.After all, they've killed pretty much everything anywhere they've gone. But it doesn't stop the company from trying. You decide,if you were with the company, when would say enough is enough.Or is there no such thing as something unattainable. Is weaponizing the xenomorph worth all the death and destruction they have wrought.

Why did they wait until the events of Alien 3 to actually make an effort to obtain one?

Yes you made sense and I think that is the most probable reason. It was just interesting when the term weapons research came up. There are no inner termoil wars going on that I'm aware of in the alien universe ( but I could be out of the loop ) and brought up the idea that the corporation "needs" this for something bigger. I'm probably looking to deep into it.

MemberChestbursterFeb-23-2017 6:40 PM@ninXeno426 You're welcome dude, I got your back bro! Your threads are usually my favorite ones! Yeah there's definitely something going on, their always trying to get a hold of the xeno or any form of the creature, face hugger, etc. A lot of people on here might not like The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, I do they are some of my favorite movies ever, but it's like Oscorp in those movies. They do some great things, cancer research, advancements in technology etc. but they also are involved in a lot of shady stuff. They've been wanting the xeno forever and wanting to weaponize it. I think it all comes down to money, greed will make you do terrible things to get it. And they don't really care how many people get hurt, killed, or whatever to get what they want.

If by 'forever' you mean July 2179, then I agree.

Was just a joke in jest.... i dont get involved that way, this not the place for it really to be honest the whole worlds going to Pot ;)
But its the entertainment and movies that keep us going along where we can detatch from reality and chill out and let Fantasy take over.

MemberNeomorphFeb-26-2017 4:38 AMWell they do whatever they can to increase profits, including anti-social things which WY is a prime example of. Maybe it says building better worlds and so on but they are only in it for themselves. I am not sure if I have understood the point of this topic, someone can tell me if I haven’t but it is almost impossible to discuss this and not think about our world.
ninXeno426: WY probably knows how dangerous it is, it is just that they don’t care. We have four Alien movies with it trying to get the Xeno and some of its employees get killed. Didn’t they say that the data goes into a computer and gets sent to the company so they know (I think they said something similar in A3 if I am not mistaken). They know that it is dangerous but it is “crew expendable”.
Ripley said it best in Alien 3:
“When they first heard about this thing, it was "crew expendable". The next time they sent in marines - they were expendable too. What makes you think they're gonna care about a bunch of lifers who found God at the ass-end of space? You really think they're gonna let you interfere with their plans for this thing? They think we're - we're crud. And they don't give a fuck about one friend of yours that's - that's died. Not one.”
That sums them up in a nut-shell, which is the impression that I have gained from how they are depicted in the movies at least. I am not really sure what the point of the thread is so I just gave an answer about how the company seems like to me.

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2017 6:31 AMyou forgot to mention Tyrell Corperation from Blade Runner, another example of a greedy power hungry company driven by people suffering the god complex. i mean curiosity killed the cat, we are doomed as mankind to survive if we always try to achieve the unatainable but we´ll always try to reach it. Who knows if the company is even led by humans anymore or if everything is controlled by the very machines they built, which is philosophy in artificial intelligences to overcome their creations (similar to Matrix). So what we see in these movies are mirrored images of what happens in the real world, maybe in some points not so extreme as others but always present.
