The Protomorph
Alright here's my theory on what exactly is the "Protomorph" as its called. The Protomorph is the result of the "black goo" or Chemical A0-3959X.91 – 15 orally infecting a male, then having intercourse with a female also infecting the woman's egg. The woman will give birth to the Trilobite and then the trilobite will impregnate a human or an engineer resulting with a “deacon”. But... the Deacon is actually a wacky form of a queen. When David opens the door to the head room, full of those canister like objects full of black goo, the Prometheus team sees a Xenomorph Wall Sculpture. This is referring to the fact that the xenomorph is already known to the Engineer and the reason why they created us is so that the xenomorphs could have a host to live off of. Otherwise hey, why would they make us? One of the most popular but known places is the xenomorph homeworld, we’ve seen dogs and other species being able to be impregnated and yatta yatta xenomorph so what if the xenomorph homeworld is literally a species that the Engineers created and then let the xenomorph feed or host off of it.
Here is the list of possibilities of where we could go with the Protomorph.
Deacon - Egg + host = Neomorph
Deacon - Egg + host = Xenomorph
Deacon - Egg + host = Protomorph
Trilobite + host = Deacon + Trilobite
Or the deacon is just a warrior or drone but protomorphed
There is really a large amount of possibilities, which one is your favorite?
Oh, and to add on, the hammerpede has nothing to do with the Xeno, proto, or neomoprh life cycle. The worms are naturally occurring (maybe to that planet or from another engineer planet and somehow they go onto the ship) but then exposed to the black goo mutating them into that. Thats why they have acid blood and distinctions like a facugger... kind of.

MemberDeaconFeb-14-2017 7:49 AMThe Black Goo is the Key....
Depends how they are going with this now, as before it was we had a Sacrificial Goo that when used on a ORGANISM or Organic Life... it would break this down so that its DNA is then reformed into a Mutagenic Substance that evolves other Organic Life it comes into contact with and passes on traits from the Organic Life that had been in contact with the Sacrificial Substance.
So Sacrificial Goo + Wolf would give a substance that passes on Wolf DNA to what ever it comes into contact with, how much depends on how they come into contact with it... But this plus a Human would create something like a Werewolf, if it was a Turtle that was infected with Sacrificial Goo, then the resulting mutagen would then evolve a Human to a TMNT lol
If you get what i mean?
So in this theory, which i think was correct at time they worked on Prometheus and its basically similar to Spaights Nano-Scarabs.
Means the Black Goo came from either.
1) Xenomorph
2) Xenomorph related ancestor
3) or some other Organism.
via which ever one of these being introduced with he Engineers Seeding Tool the Sacrificial Goo, and the Process could be a multiple one which i will explain latter.
And in the case of 2 and 3 eventually via different ways or experiments we get to a Xenomorph.
But who knows now as it depends how they intend to show us the Two Types of Goo... they could now be showing us there was ONLY One kind of Goo.
i will be busy today but i will give a in depth look at your theories and try and come up with some explanations.
I however have a feeling the Hammerpedes are the Answer.

MemberChestbursterFeb-14-2017 8:02 AMI REALLY don't like the "Black Goo" being so integral to this stuff. The X-Files series and movie already used the "Black goo" to death. I cringed when I saw it in Prometheus, and I'm hoping against hope that it'll not be such a big part in future prequels...preferably not at all a part.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-15-2017 1:36 PM@Starlogger yah good point, x-files used it pretty cool, love that show. Its definitely going to be in A: C, its used as a main plot device... its mainly like the whole movie
