Is there an Alien: Covenant sequel (or prequel) this fall?
Ingeniero
MemberPraetorianFeb-23-2017 3:14 PMIn June 2016 there were many media reports of Noomi Rapace in Australia filming for Alien: Covenant. Ridley Scott said she wasn't in the Prometheus sequel. The full cast photo was released yesterday and Noomi Rapace isn't in it. Alan Dean Foster is writing both the Alien: Covenant and Alien: Covenant sequel novels. The 1st Alien: Covenant novel is out just after the movie releases in May 2017. The 2nd Alien: Covenant novel comes out in October 2017.
Did Ridley Scott film both sequels to Prometheus last year?
Is the 2nd sequel to Prometheus coming out this Fall?
Ridley Scott can both keep a secret and I'm sure convince those around him that they will be boiled in oil if they let the word out.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-23-2017 3:40 PMI'd imagine that the movie is going to come out in another 2-4 years like the time between Prometheus and Alien: Covenant

MemberPraetorianFeb-23-2017 4:20 PMUnlikely, but that would have been pretty cool. We're getting a prequel novel instead.

MemberTrilobiteFeb-23-2017 4:23 PMThat seems like a fast turn around for the next AC. Filming for both could have happened though- like with the last two Matrix movies and I think a couple Harry Potter movies.

MemberPraetorianFeb-23-2017 4:25 PMAll the Lord of The Rings as well.Lol my sister is a Harry Potter fanatic!

MemberTrilobiteFeb-23-2017 4:27 PMFilming like that kept ages consistent and probably cost less too since everyone was already there.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-23-2017 4:48 PMIf the sequel to Alien Covenant comes out before mid 2018, I would be shocked. Ridley likes to take his time with things to make sure he gets it the way he wants...
Even if shot concurrently, there is production time and the salient period producers want to inject between films to prevent oversaturation in the minds of fans...
mid 2018 is my best guess..

MemberPraetorianFeb-23-2017 4:52 PMThere were Alien: Covenant reshoots in London in November 2016. This could be a cover for the Alien: Covenant sequel production.

MemberXenomorphFeb-23-2017 5:02 PMWhen did Ridley say Rapace wasn't in the Prometheus sequel?
And why would she be in a photo of the Covenant crew?
Ingeniero
MemberPraetorianFeb-23-2017 5:05 PMThe photo was described as a full cast photo. Here is the link for Ridley's quote:

MemberXenomorphFeb-23-2017 5:22 PMThe article is from 12 months ago. It was confirmed in June that she'd be returning. The photo was touted by Fox as the crew of the Covenant.

MemberPraetorianFeb-23-2017 5:35 PMSo, when Ridley Scott answered the question that she was not in the movie and they were still casting main roles, Shaw was going to be played by someone else? Or Ridley Scott answered the question and she was part of the Alien Covenant sequel.
S.M
MemberXenomorphFeb-23-2017 5:43 PMEither he was lying, or they changed the script to include the character, or they were having issues with her contract, which were later sorted out.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-23-2017 5:45 PMProbably not but i cant wait to get my hands on the books!

MemberPraetorianFeb-23-2017 5:53 PMLooks like you got it all figured out S.M with your supposition of contract issues, unicorns...
I know, as you say, the article from one year ago is now irrelevant and he was lying and you have it all figured out.

MemberPraetorianFeb-23-2017 6:16 PMAlso, why would Ridley Scott move the Alien Covenant release up from later in 2017 to May 2017 then reshoots are reported in November 2016?
Are you going to move your movie schedule up to an earlier release when you are going through reshoots?

MemberChestbursterFeb-23-2017 6:58 PMIf Alien: Covenant is received well and does good at the box office, which I hope is the case, I don't see an almost five year gap like it's been since Prometheus, don't remember what month it came out, pretty much 5 years in between. I say 2019 summer for the next one.
S.M
MemberXenomorphFeb-23-2017 7:15 PMEvery movie goes through reshoots. If they can have the film finished for the summer - why not?
dk
MemberTrilobiteFeb-23-2017 7:20 PMIt's hard to imagine a AAA title having a sequel in the same year. It is not impossible extra filming was done for an eventual sequel though- considering props and people were already on location.

MemberXenomorphFeb-23-2017 7:33 PMThe last two Potter flicks were 8 months apart, but that was planned all along; not done in secret.

MemberDeaconFeb-23-2017 8:04 PMTo be honest who knows......
Maybe they could have been doing this, a work on two back to back movies, like Matrix sequels , like Back to Future 2+3, Last Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter?
Who knows but i think it would be hard to keep it secret...
I do honestly think FOX however would rather maybe see a sequel sooner rather than latter so i doubt we would wait 4-5 years for the sequel to ALIEN COVENANT..
I think this in part is why Alien 5 is on Hold.
Especially if Fassbender as David or Walter is in the next movie because well he is getting older each year and its a bit harder to portray a Android that is not supposed to age if their is a like 10 year gap in the release of Prometheus to the 3rd Prequel.
We also have Ridleys AGE and i think he would rather get his Prequels finished as soon as he can.

MemberDeaconFeb-23-2017 8:07 PMAs far as Rappace?
Who knows.... we cant be sure really..
The Sequel was supposed to be about her... then had rumors she would die, then we got Alien Covenant and she would not be joining the cast (never ruled out previously done scenes)
Then she will not be in the movie...
To then indeed she would be shooting a weeks worth of scenes.
I have heard all sorts of hersay.... from she never liked Fassbender, and he never liked her and not work with her, to all sorts... i cant buy any of those.
I simply think they had a change of direction where they felt the events of David and Shaw going to find Engineers was no longer seen as important and that showing the Aliens was more important.

MemberTrilobiteFeb-23-2017 9:34 PMThere would be enough time for the AC1 DVD/ Blu ray to be released but maybe not much time to tease the sequel.

MemberOvomorphFeb-24-2017 6:49 AMNo, this discussion came up years ago about Prometheus, if they shot two films without Fans knowing and just from a marketing standpoint and money wise i doubt it ;-) Especially now Ridley Scott has gotten to a certain age, we will have to see if he will even direct the further installments after Covenant and if there will be any further ones or if they put all their ideas into this one movie to suprise everyone. My guess is they will make another 2-3 movies after this, following the steps of Disney with Star Wars...

MemberChestbursterFeb-27-2017 7:07 AM@Ingeniero Sorry there are people on here that shoot down your theories and never have anything constructive to say and have to correct everything. Keep fighting the good fight, know that some people on here got your back.

MemberPraetorianFeb-27-2017 8:09 AMI claim the blessings of perfect health and a pile of gold for you as tall as 10 Engineers. You stand out Dr. Curt Conners.
I will keep my chin up and finish my Engineer theory article. I will be prepared for S.M when citing sources such as Google results, Ridley Scott quotes, commonly accepted facts written in the English language.
Hey S.M, the photo cited above is "touted" as a "FULL CAST". I know this because the photo was beside the words full cast across media outlets on my computer screen in color.

MemberChestbursterFeb-27-2017 8:16 AM@Ingeniero Thank you for those thoughtful remarks! Yes always be confident in what you are passionate about. There is no right or wrong answer, this is a sight for people's opinions. All opinions are welcome, I look forward to your engineer article and again thank you for being who you are.

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2017 9:00 AMThe release of the sequel novel in the same year made me think the same thing, Ingeniero. Its a good question, and its not an unprecedented tactic to release two related films in a single year. I would not be surprised if Covenant has a "cliff hanger" ending, too.

MemberPraetorianFeb-27-2017 12:40 PMiFox, you had those thoughts because you have unchained genius cascading across the interior of your skull (you are smart because you agree with me, vanity).
If you read what the Alien: Covenant actors have said about the lock down of the film secrets, then why release a second movie novelization in September 2017 without an Alien: Covenant sequel movie released just prior to this novelization?
Why release the secrets of the Alien: Covenant sequel if the movie isn't out yet? This is the release schedule of the first Alien: Covenant movie/novel in May 2017.

Where's Guy Pearce?
I reckon it would be sweet if there was another film to follow on straight after this - but various media outlets labels on pictures doesn't make me think it'll actually happen.
