MemberOvomorphFeb-26-2017 12:27 PMgood morning. long time lurker, love this community and the mythos ridley and co have got people going totally insane over. really looking forward to this film, and for all it's shortcomings I feel Alien: Prometheus will be bolstered by new information presented in Alien: Covenant
This post however focusses on David and draws theories from posts i remember reading all the way back in 2012.
The recent media released promoting this film has cleverly got everyone assuming David is back in one piece. The trailer clearly confuses with flashbacks/walter/shadowy figures etc but what if this is all designed to lull us into a false sense of security.
What if David is revealed to still be just a head?
I cant remember or cite the original post but there was a lindelofesq time travel wormhole theory presented ages ago linking directly to the large head in the ampule chamber potentially being a statue of David.
Also, the way the engineer smiles before ripping off said head reeks of familiarity to me.
Ultimately this raises more questions than solid theory but if the overall story results in humans creating an immortal new life form that ends up transcending space and time, playing some role in humanities creation that could prove very interesting: we created our creator in an infernal loop.
how the engineers/Chemical A0-3959X.91 – 15/alien lifeforms play into this i can't say to any accurate extent. we could assume David is the creator of the xeno. but his motivations and abilities in the time since they crashed on paradise are probably going to be far removed from any pre conceived notions we may have. if daniels is related to ripley there may well be some dark personal agenda.
another important point is that we have to assume Walter and Ash are completely pre loaded with all information gathered from the previous missions.
"There's a perfectly good reason for all this" says Ash upon Ripley discovering special order 937. Possibly one of the most revealing lines in the whole film.
So my first post, a rambling collection of facts and guesses, but i hope it brings up more unhealthily obsessive ideas into what Mr Scott has in store for us. The sexualised elements of the xenomorph (the noises of Lamberts death still haunt me to this day) were never revisited satisfactorily for me in any subsequent movie.
I want to be disturbed.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-27-2017 5:57 AMit sounds interesting. I don't think david is the creator of the xeno. the head statue and the worm whole time travel idea is interesting.
about davids head not being attached to his body I wonder if walter finds davids head and some how uploads him self into walter and basically takes over. kinda like how ash did in alien: out of the shadows. But! we'll see. Ive been on here since last summer reading a lot of ideas and theories people have Ive remembered most of them ( especially BigDaves theoris ) itll be fun to see how close some got and maybe even nailed the whole story.

MemberTrilobiteFeb-27-2017 11:29 PMWTF are you talking about? Do you need a time out to get some rest? That's OK- it happens to most of eventually......mostly.

MemberOvomorphFeb-28-2017 12:54 AMNo no, I like Mias theory here, how else could just a head traverse and navigate the wilds of paradise for ten years without creating a few biomechanoid horses.
Perhaps he modified some organic DNA to develop these transportation beasts: shaws fate

MemberTrilobiteFeb-28-2017 7:48 AMWAFTLORD - Welcome to SCIFIED! It is always quite pleasing to see new faces! I find your theory to be most compelling - certainly worth a great deal of consideration! I very much enjoy the information and conjecture you have placed within this topic, especially the questions you pose. Thank you ever so much for taking the time to create this and share it with us! Once again, welcome to SCIFIED! :)

MemberNeomorphFeb-28-2017 7:51 AMthink im with most when asking mia, WTF was that about???
onto the post at hand. ridley definitely intends to scare the s**t out of us and shock us. the whole xeno life cycle is alien to us so he can go in so many different directions with this. the whole point that it is alien means he can use something that horrifies us yet when asked 'what was that about?' or 'that didn't seem possible' he can reply 'well it is an alien after all'. I think he will be going back to use the shower scene in AC to give us more answers on Lamberts death. we never see anything and the fact she is in a state of undress when ripley finds her def suggests some sinister shenanigans. iv had discussions on this subject on here before and some just plain shot it down. it a f*****g alien dude, designed, though unintentionally, from the horryfingly sexually orientated mind of mr giger and conceived by the guys who wrote star beast and stated the whole story comes down to intergalactic, interspecies rape. even if the xeno has no gender, it doesn't mean its not a sick twisted curious bugger

Welcome aboard. Off to a good start and joining in all the fun.

MemberNeomorphFeb-28-2017 8:08 AMI also like the idea david is still headless and like in out of the shadows, may corrupt walter if and when walter links with him, maybe to download davids memories to find out what happened to the Prometheus. I do think though we will see david walking about and that shaw has repaired him
waftlord
MemberOvomorphFeb-28-2017 8:28 AMcould be that david gets repaired then has his head uncermoniously ripped off in every single film....
thanks for the welcome peoples. i seem to have timed this with a load of older posts resurfacing echoing some of these ideas.
especially liking that the company could be now operated by a bunch of synthetics, desiring to further their evolution and using the xenos to wipe out a species they are forbidden to harm.
i'm sure this has been noted but https://www.weylandindustries.com is now taking sign ups for weyland-yutani.com so i expect we're due an update soon.
especially interested to compare "David 8 can record, process, understand and express many complex emotions, but he will never know true human feelings such as love, grief and compassion." with Walters emotional processing systems.
Did Ash love the first xeno? that was a lot of collating for one organism...
ali81
MemberNeomorphFeb-28-2017 8:40 AMhe admires it purity, wouldn't say loved. he loved how it differed from humans.it is the perfect organism. a survivor. no remorse, no conscience and not dillusion of morality. it is alive only for the good of its own kinds survival.

MemberDeaconFeb-28-2017 9:24 AMI think its a interesting theory... but Ridley Scott has always teased and hinted that David will be getting his head back on, and Walter is concerned about David but he need not be concerned with just a Head.
As far as David creates the Xenomorph.... who knows.. Ridley teased this movie we would find out WHY it is Bio-Mechanical and News leaked on Android DNA connects to Xeno seems to be removed often...
I dont think David would be down on Paradise for up to 10 years on his own just sitting around... i am sure he would want to get to the bottom of the Engineers, the Black Goo and why they created it, why they could have been killed off by it and what does this stuff do.
So i think David would experiment... HOWEVER... we cant say if David created the Eggs, the Spores or both or NONE.. but he would have had to been messing about with something.
It would be safe to assume he has CREATED something but when it comes to those Eggs... likely if this is the case then its more a case of RE-CREATION
As far as Time-travel and Wormhole....
Maybe... but i dont like it, if they go this route it has to be a FREAK Accident... it maybe cant be something the Engineers could do or else why not go back and undo Mankind a different way or undo what lead to their demise.... the only answer that would fit with this and not leave any holes would be they could not because they was Dead... It could be like when Marty McFly goes back to the Future...
If he then suffered a Accident while he is in the past or future then after this he would not be able to affect any more Time Lines.

MemberNeomorphFeb-28-2017 9:40 AMas far as the time travel/ wormhole theory goes, im with u, don't like it. too convenient IMO
waftlord
MemberOvomorphFeb-28-2017 10:23 AMYeah any timeline based manipulation would have to be artfully done for us to suspend our disbelief.
The ancient nature of the derelict, and the supposed answers to its origins, will be hard to convey without it. The company knew it was there. And knew what it contained.
Did anyone else see 20th century fox first Facebook post announcing this film that was hastily reworded within seconds?
i did, but am loathed to share as it's an epic spoiler.
ali81
MemberNeomorphFeb-28-2017 10:47 AMit doesn't specify anything, just life form. my belief is that due to their knowledge of the signal, they know of an obvious intelligent life form that sent the signal and there will most probably be technology at the very least. if they know about a hostile organism it may have been from reports ash had sent back to them but I don't think prior to the nostromo crew being diverted that the company knew of the dangerous cargo on board
ali81
MemberNeomorphFeb-28-2017 10:56 AMhaha the company is not to be trusted. that's the point. my theory is that company, being aware of the signal on lv426 prior to the Prometheus mission, redirect the nostromo as it is the only vessel close enough. this may have been their intention all along even before sending the nostromo on their original mission and always planned on redirecting it? they have hopes of encountering the species that sent the signal and gaining technology. maybe once ash reported kanes situation that's when their objectives changed? as now they have real time confirmation of an alien organism all other priorities rescinded?

but to be frank, if i didn't know, i wouldn't want to know.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-28-2017 10:25 PMJust say 'no' to time travel. Unless it's an absolute integral part of a story, then it's a guaranteed let-down.

MemberOvomorphMar-01-2017 3:08 AMCome on, guys! This is science fiction! Time travel can be a fascinating subject if it's dealt with correctly (not to fix plot holes) & I suspect it's going to be introduced in AC. We all know there's a Ripley connection in AC. If they don't introduce Daniels as Ripley's mother, then I wonder if Ripley herself would be either referenced or pop up (like in a last shot) - under the guise of this time travel theory. I know the guy who does the Alien Theory youtube vids mentioned this as a potential possibility when Blomkamp said the chances of A5 happening are "slim". Could it be that Scott wanted to prevent Blomkamp's movie because he had his own way of featuring Ripley in his prequel trilogy? Could some sort of time travel theory explain how an A5 could exist between the events of Aliens & A3? Could the engineers in fact be time travelers? Was the engineer who snapped David's head off in Prometheus simply in some sort of cryostasis or was he being "lightbeamed" or something? And what of that mysterious hologram of engineers in Prometheus running down the cavern of the ship? Honestly, I thought those open-ended mysteries in Prometheus had potential. One thing I liked about this trailer was that I can see now that the Alien universe is much larger and more complex and we're about to see different aspects to it. Of course the movie will be hypercharged with action, but I also hope this movie will explore & flesh out some of those unanswered mysteries from Prometheus & how they tie in to the world of Alien.
