MemberFacehuggerMar-02-2017 8:58 AMLike all of you, I've been reading all the interesting theories floating around on here and started to think of what won't be answered in this movie. Granted there are 2 more coming supposedly...but here are a few I don't think we'll learn anything about:
1) What happened to the Engineers in Prometheus?
2) Space Jockey is a what? Giant engineer? Different race of engineer?
3) Did Engineers create humans?
I'm sure I'll think of more but please chime in.

MemberNeomorphMar-02-2017 9:17 AMagreed. what happened on lv223 probably wont be answered, why they want to kill us either. I think if there r going to be answers theyl most probably be specific to this planet such as were there humans inhabiting the planet, was there an outbreak and who caused it. maybe some clues as to the engineer home world, assuming this isn't it

MemberFacehuggerMar-02-2017 12:30 PMI think of all the questions you posed.....
{DRUMROLL...}
None will be answered in its entirety.
1) Maybe what happened on "Paradise" but probably not on LV223,
2) More to follow...
3) I think the answer depends on what "create" means to people. As a species "no", but I am sure Ridley wants to convey that they(Engineers) had a hand in forming our genetic condition.
They have to save answers for the next 2 movies...

MemberOvomorphMar-02-2017 12:38 PMMy concern is Ridley's age, considering it is almost 5 years betwee Prometheus and AC I'm not sure he'll be able to personally make the next two films. Of course others could direct but man an Alien film without Ridley or Cameron hasn't fared well.

MemberChestbursterMar-02-2017 12:45 PM@peterweyland you have the same concerns as do I. I do like that (hopefully true) RS and associates/writers/researchers have come up with a "Canon" Ruleset for the Alien Universe. That will be helpful no matter what. No telling what sorts of secrets lie in such a document---the "answers" in that would be the scaffolding for the rest of the movies/stories.

MemberChestbursterMar-02-2017 1:01 PMI believe there will be 2 years in between the next two sequels meaning 2019 and 2021. Ridley Scott isn't going to be directing any other movies but these. He will still produce other projects, like Blade Runner 2049 and Alien 5 if that ever happens. I think as someone put it on here, don't remember who, these movies are gonna be his lasting legacy.

MemberFacehuggerMar-02-2017 1:37 PMI share the same age related concerns. I hope that there are decent contingency plans in place for the sake of the canon. Don't mean to sound morbid but...

MemberOvomorphMar-02-2017 2:04 PM1) What happened to the Engineers in Prometheus?
This can be answered more or less, if we see a civil war between two fractions of Engineers in an hologram on the Covenant planet, or something like that. We don't necessarily have to visit LV-223 again to get answers.
2) Space Jockey is a what? Giant engineer? Different race of engineer
Probably it's just an Engineer, but we won't get there in AC, but in the next two films after AC. Scott said the final one of his Alien prequel trilogy will answer this what crashed on LV-426
3) Did Engineers create humans?
We will probably learn more about the Engineers, but I don't
think this one will be answered. It's already kinda implied in Prometheus. I don't think this theme will be revisited.

MemberFacehuggerMar-02-2017 2:11 PMThere are still several directions that this canon can turn it seems. It will be interesting to see how the next two movies answer these questions and others and then what comes after Aliens (Alien 5 or whatever)

MemberChestbursterMar-02-2017 2:19 PMLindelof is out, hopefully questions will be answered instead of asked
BigDave
MemberDeaconMar-02-2017 3:01 PMI think all of those questions will be loosely answered but in ways that will raise more questions...
But by the time they finish the next TWO movies we would have those answers.... But Prometheus seemed to have them anyway, just maybe takes a lot of digging.

MemberChestbursterMar-02-2017 3:06 PMIf that's the case @BigDave I would never be able to get through Prometheus enough times to get the answers, twice was too much. Sorry Prometheus isn't my cup of tea.

MemberDeaconMar-02-2017 3:19 PMI will be busy a bit over the next few days, but i can then elaborate on those questions and re-harsh the Source information which has the answers i think we are looking for, as it seems that information i passed on 2 years ago is Correct... The new Trailer and On set reports seem to back that up

MemberFacehuggerMar-02-2017 4:16 PMAnyone remember the easter egg in Colonial Marines the ps game? They had the spaceship seen in Prometheus and the Derelict fighting.
Maybe a clue or just a random thing thrown at the game.

AdminEngineerMar-02-2017 4:29 PMThe theory concerning factions of Engineer at war have been going on for a while and tbh, I see as a likely side story. Good and evil, angels and demons, light and dark, yin and yang. The Universe requires balance and this underlying philosophy can't be ignored with this franchise, especially considering the territory it's been placed in. There is so much about the Engineers we won't be told, but I think their existence will be mirrored by the Human characters we see in each film.
There are already so many correlations you can make from Prometheus alone. I think what happens to the Humans happened to the Engineers. History repeating itself. Destiny and all that. Adam and Eve screwed us all with that forbidden fruit. Hahaha

MemberNeomorphMar-04-2017 9:59 AMI hope that they won’t answer who the Space Jockey really is. What happened on LV-223 should also remain a mystery, that would be better so we can use our imagination instead.
David is one android and Walter is another. They can explain the main differences but let the rest be unknown.
One thing that is interesting to think about is if there are other planets that the Engineers live on. We don’t need to know about that. Let’s say that they are some sort of Space travelers and have taken over many planets that they live on, we can leave that up to the imagination.
They don’t need to answer if the Squid died on LV-223 or not. I guess that it didn’t find food but we don’t know that much about it.
Eventually there is a specie that created the Engineer but we can leave that to another movie.
There are so many things that could be told but I am not sure if we need answers to all of these questions.
As far as time, I hope that we won’t need to wait this many years before the next Alien prequel.

MemberFacehuggerMar-04-2017 11:30 AM@Thoughts - yes the fate of the Deacon was another one I hope we somehow hear about. If not in A:C then somewhere along the line
