MemberOvomorphMar-07-2017 6:54 AMWhat can you do David?
I can carry out directives that my human counterparts may find distressing or unethical, also he said I understand human emotions even though I don't feel them myself, and to Vickers, that being said doesn't everybody want their parents dead?
This always kind of chilled me and makes me think that David is even more alien then the engineers and aliens themselves who showed emotions bye smiling compassionately at David before ripping his head off and fighting emotions as Shaw was shouting at him for answers, maybe even shock and fear before attacking the Prometheus crew. They share our DNA and have music and sculptures.
The aliens just want to procreate, provide shelter, and do for their families like we do, and I definitely saw some emotion when the Queen's eggs were threatened she seem to be pissed, plus the way the three Aliens were going back and forth and I think the 4th alien movie before they kill one of their colleagues to escape captivity on the ship, it seemed to be some emotions were going back and forth. The newborn definitely showed emotion the way in which it interacted with rip Lee and had expressive eyes that we could read. I think that's what giving David a lot of human characteristic he does have those expressive eyes and facial expressions even as he says he cares nothing about you, but can make you feel more comfortable by imitating you. Those of us who think that David is going to save Shaw because they bonded on the trip and she saved his body or give revenge to man against the Engineers for hurting Shaw or Humanity, what makes you think that and what are your thoughts in general on David. I think he may well be the most alien component in the films.

MemberPraetorianMar-15-2017 8:50 AMKarstenphd, yes he is a devise with the capability of unlimited destruction.
David is by design, a sociopath, guided by the constraints of whom is in charge of him. He is sterile in regards to emotion and would exhaust the same "feelings" if he were opening a stick of gum for someone or wiping out a planet.
Two things that most assuredly affected David's task were Dr. Holloway in saying "anything and everything" at the pool table and the removal of his head. And maybe Vickers threatening to cut his cord too.
Dr. Holloway removed limits to the scope of David's quest for how the black goo works and David's self-preservation embedded instinct most likely took over when the Engineer pulled off his head. And then it was so very the time to wipe out the Engineers after that. They messed up his hair.
I just love him. He spends 39 light years learning the root of every language, monitors the processes of the Prometheus ship, watches your dreams, and still has time to bleach his roots.

MemberNeomorphMar-16-2017 12:29 AMingeniero, he went to all that trouble to look good for the crew waking up n not one of those ignorant cretins complimented him on his hair, that's what started this whole thing.

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2017 12:38 AM@ali81 are you saying David has self esteem issues! I was trying to fit in "head and shoulders rage Engineer shampoo™ with Ingeniero's head shot but ....

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2017 12:42 AMThe synthetic Roy Batty in Blade Runner seemed to develop a soul prior to his expiration and I was not expecting that so maybe we'll get thrown for a loop...

MemberNeomorphMar-16-2017 12:56 AMI think roy is one of the greatest android portrails in movie history. his death scene is iconic and the releasing of the dove is done brilliantly. all credit given to the actor for that as he came up with the lines. I think david is in essence a rebellious teen. hes been given free reign to do what he wants. so he does. he knows when he is being mistreated and reacts in the manner he believes humans would, but feels nothing. he has been mistreated by both humans and engineer so now he is free, as weyland is dead, he cares not for either. but that teen at some point grows up and learns the error of his way.

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2017 2:43 AMSo what do you think this rebellious teen is going to do when he's introduced to his twin brother for the first time?! Rotflmao
