MemberPraetorianMar-21-2017 8:35 AMYes, SparklingAmbien it is very possible.
From what we have seen in the Prometheus and Alien films, the artificial intelligence is used for guidance in all maters technical.
The humans are setting the mission agenda and directing the technology development but as the technology becomes more complex, humans rely on artificial intelligence to operate and repair their technology. David models are repaired by David 8 models.
Then humans will also need artificial intelligence to assist in the design of technology as the internal systems become radically advanced and maybe a hybrid of organic and synthetic materials.
Over time it is easy to see whoever is in charge and it is easy to argue that it is the synthetic.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2017 10:43 AMVery good theory. I read that the synthetics in the Alien franchise, "once constituted a huge industry and were in widespread use throughout the galaxy, but a violent rebellion ultimately led to them being declared illegal, with virtually all extant units being destroyed in a mass recall." I think this was what Alien:Ressurection was alluding to in the alternate ending. There is a deleted scene included in the Special Edition DVD and Blu-Ray versions of the film where Call says she set the coordinates for the ship to crash into an uninhabited sector of the Earth. As we also see in the ending of the special edition, the survivors land in what was once Paris but is now a barren wasteland. It appears Earth was either abandoned by the majority of humanity or there was a war that nearly destroyed all life. Perhaps a war with the synths?

MemberXenomorphMar-21-2017 2:18 PMThere was a product recall; not a war. Paris is a starship graveyard, beyond that we don't know what happened there. Earth was otherwise still a major population hub.
"is it possible that Weyland Yutani is owned/operated/controlled by androids?"
Anything is possible. But without any evidence that might point to this happening it might as well be impossible. Was there something in particular that led to you asking this question?

god creates man, man destroys god, man creates synthetics, synthetics destroy man.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2017 1:43 AMGood theory, but it's unlikely.
Humans are in control of Weyland-Yutani. They want to use the Xenomorph as a bio-weapon.

MemberDeaconMar-22-2017 1:54 AMI think it is a interesting idea... and who knows..
I would not be surprised if a Synthetic plays a big role in the Company Merger, but as far as the Androids taking over...?
who knows, it would be a TWIST but one thats maybe a Bit too much on the Nose... but we cant rule it out...
But then we dont have any 100% Proof to suggest it could be.

MemberOvomorphApr-30-2017 10:27 PMi mean if the AI/androids want to retrieve the alien (like in Alien, Aliens, etc.) having humans involved in the mission would be necessary to lure them, get face-hugged, and/or impregnated. i think it would be super interesting if Weyland-Yutani is really androids or run by one. when the Company popped up at the end of Alien III, the guy who looked like Bishop saying all that stuff, that's what brought this idea to my brain...

MemberFacehuggerApr-30-2017 11:19 PMIf weyland is dead now, has no human children to take over, then an AI could be running the show. The black goo may be the bridge between android, deacon and the final xeno.
David was following weylands orders in prometheus without question, and didnt care About the other crew, what does david do now his creator is gone? Go and create himself?

MemberTrilobiteMay-01-2017 12:02 AMThat theory has made the rounds and it seems plausible/possible enough to me. It would make for some interesting irony.
