Nostromo and Prometheus and Covenant, Oh My! A tribute to the high-value space vessels of the Alien franchise

MemberFacehuggerMar-31-2017 12:49 PMHey guys, this will be my first big topic post on here. I signed up this morning and have been looking through the threads all day, its really addicting.
In regard to the Alien films, a huge component for me are the ships carrying the various crews and various cargo. The Nostromo was a commercial towing vehicle, the Prometheus was a deep space research vessel, and the Covenant is presumed to be operated for the same purpose as the Prometheus. In Alien, the majority of the film takes place on the Nostromo, which really perfected the whole feeling of claustrophobia and being trapped with the beast.
So feel free to post your favorite images or art of the various Alien franchise ships. (The USM Auriga from Resurrection is welcome here too!)
What's the story, MUTHUR?

MemberFacehuggerMar-31-2017 1:47 PMWelcome @HappyXeno!
I have no image to post, but I must say that of all the ships in the Alien universe, sofar (apart from the derelict) Nostromo is no. 1. It looks so damn cool, especially when towing the refinery. None of the other ships comes close. Love also the interior, all the nice details. Ron Cobb is a mastermind. So listing them from top to bottom:
1. The Derelict
2. Nostromo
3. Sulaco
4. The Juggernaut
5. Covenant (probably)
6. Prometheus
7. Auriga
8. The Betty

MemberChestbursterMar-31-2017 2:53 PMThe Nostromo is my favorite ship as well, dark, dirty and huge towing vehicle that looked like a haunted house in space.

The Covenant

While I disliked Prometheus and the ship design (basically a 4-engine version of the Serenity), the landing sequence itself was one of the most jaw-dropping I've ever seen.

MemberTrilobiteMar-31-2017 2:56 PMThe Covenant after burners remind me of electric razor heads that may have been used in old scifi b movies.
Nostromo does it for me.

MemberChestbursterMar-31-2017 3:05 PMI wonder if The Covenant beats the size of the USM Auriga in terms of length?
(And I had no idea that the Auriga was that big)

MemberPraetorianMar-31-2017 4:29 PMI'll always love the Nostromo. :) I do like the PROMETHEUS, but it's kinda 'awkward' when viewed from some angles, but I have borrowed off it's engines for some of my works.
Covenant, nee to see more of it and it's dropship to be able to say.
I love THE BETTY as it just SCREAMS Tramp-Trader.
SULACO, kinda cool, but kinda boring...looks more like a military cargo/freighter than a credible warship.
DERELICT & JUGGERNAUT, always loved the DERELICT and very much enjoy the JUGGERNAUT as they're visual treats.

MemberPraetorianMar-31-2017 7:48 PMBesides being a massive Firefly fan I like the industrial VTOL look of The Betty.....even if it is the Serenity mkII lol.
The Sulaco also has a very iconic look.

MemberXenomorphMar-31-2017 8:23 PMI always thought the Serenity ripped off the Betty.
And her crew.

MemberPraetorianMar-31-2017 9:13 PMHa! Serenity, Firefly-class pre-dates Alien: Resurrection. :D
Sorry...Fangirl moment. :)

MemberPraetorianMar-31-2017 9:25 PMYeah Serenity/Firefly is the original. Betty & crew are the copies, even though Joss Whedon wrote both. He was very upset and unimpressed in how his Resurrection script was executed and interpreted.
