Am I the only one that thinks this thing is just adorable? I have a tiny kitty about the same size as the neo when it jumps on Karine. Similar behaviors too (minus the hostility).

I really feel it was a mistake to give it obvious arms, legs, and the clearly defined elongated skull. If there were no limbs or if they were much tinier so it had that serpent like quality, I feel it would have been much creepier. But with what we've been shown, I just want to pick the thing up and give it squeezles.

Who's with me?

...to say 'hi'. :D Awesome! :)

Or the baby neo just wanted to say: 'Hush! Hush!'

I dont think the Snake Chest Buster would have been Good... as it would have got killed, as i doubt Faris is that bad a shot lol

I do understand the Alien Chest Buster was indeed unique and different, before we think the Neomorph is disappointing..

We could have had the Turkey Burster...

Yeah, despite the cute sounds and quasi-cute appearance and size...it's at least as dangerous as a wolverine or honey badger, and whoilly Unknown as well. Getting approached by such a critter, no matter what, just will not end well.

As far as the 4 Legs goes, it appears they will just move like this until they are close and then they can stand up right...

Its a Posture that just helps to show us these Aliens can move very fast, as opposed to the Man in the Suit 1979 Original.

It appears the Aesthetics are changing now more in line with the Queen, and Alien Isolation is the same, every movie seems to be going for a different design but from Aliens on wards they do appear to get less Bio-Mechanical and also have similar Legs.

I was informed which i passed on to Chris, about just before the Poster Came out or just after,  that the Xenomorphs would be more closer to those in AVP and AVPR and would look actually a lot like those in the Sideshow Alien King Figure, and it this kind of Leg Style that is being adopted now because we can now create better designs than the limitations of a Man in a Suit from 30+ Years ago would give us.

They said they also move around like a Rodent, but can stand up when they wish but will now move around on all fours and attack via pouncing on their victims.

The whole Cute thingy is something i brought up with with regards to some disappointment with the Deacon.

I said while its a Human Hybrid and does not look as scary as the Xenomorph, we need to look at other Mammals and indeed a Baby Bear, Wolf, Tiger or Lion are soooooo Cute...

And they dont look aggressive at all.... but the Adults is another story and apply the changes to all these Mammals and size difference to the Deacon and we could have ended up with one very Scary Alien Monster.

I think this is what we will see with the Neomorph, the Adult looks like a Horror... apart from the Mouth that looks so faked CGI it reminds of of a South Park Mouth lol

Neomorph adult seems like it has an elastic/snake-like jaw hinge, which would allow for a really horrifying bite radius, and it's teeth remind me a bit of the 'cookie-cutter' shark.

Something I thought was worth noting here. I was just looking at the picture I included in the original post and I have to say, the baby neo somewhat resembles a facehugger.

Perhaps this is related to what Ridley is going for here. In Alien, you don't even see the facehugger walk or run. No precedent was set for it's behavior. Additionally, you really don't get much of the xeno running in Alien either.

Perhaps Scott always wanted the facehugger to scuttle around like a spider but was limited by the tech at the time. Furthermore, perhaps he also wished to have the xeno/proto to move in a similiar manner to the facehugger, being the next step and all.

For all we know, Ridley never intended for the xeno to be primarily bi-pedal. He perhaps intended for it to largely take a posture and movements resembling that of the hugger (Fifield also took on these spider-like postures) which would mean that our original expectations for primarily bi-pedal creature COULD have been misplaced.

QueenElizabethShaw I had not considered that, but it is interesting to note these creatures go for people's faces.

he even made it do the crab walk before considering four legged movement http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eR5jYeIMBKk

Bolaji Badejo even had to specifically train the bi-pedal movement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFpgu1L1YIc

hehe ofcourse this does not hold up for an argument, but im sticking with it; Ridley had to make/take the decision for the creatures design in covenant like this, rather than wanting to do so with a reasonable cause.

I think the crab walk, although funny, was not meant to represent the Xeno movement. It looked ridiculous. It seems more like a director was telling the actor to "get closer"? My 2 cents.

@Fifield

It has been stated for over a year now (in leaks to be fair) that the Protomorph is much more animalistic in behavior compared to the classic Big Chap. Personally I enjoy the change and the faster, more frantic movement induces terror in a way we haven't seen since Aliens. If I remember correctly, many of the Xenomorphs in Aliens moved on 4 legs when running, am I not correct?

As for the Neomorphs, I believe they've been done correctly. They seem much more vocal and animal like than xenos, and moving quadrupedally further attributes to that. We haven't seen all they have to offer though, and I have no doubt that the adult neomorph will be terrifying. Both creatures have been observed moving on 2 legs, and on 4.

They probably choose which to use based on the situation, and fast movement calls for 4 legs most of the time. We just have to accept that this movie is much faster paced than the original Alien, and with that comes changes to the creatures as well.

you have to remember any organism that violently kills its host to hatch is almost guaranteed to be dangerous.

I think the neomorph looks well done but maybe a few things could be improved upon.

The discussion is ok, but actually an agressive lifeform that can use four or two legs (and an additional tail) makes more sense from the evolutionary standpoint.  We don´t must ever ask for more weirdness, since mother nature itself is prodigal in evolutionary parallelism.  Just another day I read a marvellous article about the role of contingency in evolution, showing that octopuses developed their high intelligence in a manner completely different from, let´s say, mammals or birds (actually involving some arcane process named "rna editing").

I think the thing is quite ugly actually.  IMO the only resemblance it has to any cute creatures is it's quadrupedal nature.  I also don't really mind the well-defined arms/legs thing either, as this movie is meant to show that the Xenos are actually quite different in the original Alien than how they started out.  With that said, I can see how some people can think they missed the mark with the baby Neomorph.  It's all a matter of aesthetic opinion.

okay so I just thought of this so if they view their host as a parent then that means that they bambi themselves. XD anyway I would LOVE to have a pet backburster, not to come out of me obviously, that would just stay like that forever. and I say backburster because I bet the Throatburster looks very different.

Watch Life. You'll find a new meaning of adorable, and no matter how cute things look they can turn out to be flat out terrifying once they demonstrate their abilities.
