I am being grouchy. I think it is actually Piles of Narnia.
Oh- and that other kiddie one where kids have to fight to survive? I don't even recall the name from not caring. That sounds like more adventure/fantasy though.
Point is, not much compares as a sci fi movie franchise to Alien.

Star Wars too obviously but I wouldn't really call them pure sci-fi films in my book of sci-fi nerdism, more like a "space adventure saga"

MemberChestbursterMay-05-2017 7:30 AMStrangely, even as as SciFi fan, i have NEVER really been a Star trek fan. I'll watch the movies, once. I watched the original 60's tv series reruns when I was a kid, but, they never "clicked" for me.
Alien is by far my favorite series, and the one I cannot get enough of.

MemberChestbursterMay-05-2017 8:05 AMOverall, I love the ship introductions in the Star Trek franchise, the fantastic and convincing acting (especially the aliens) and the exploration theme.
That being said I wouldn't consider myself a fan of the franchise, maybe because I wasn't impressed by the low-budget silliness and all the sci-fi babble of the earliest TV-series.

MemberChestbursterMay-05-2017 9:10 AM@Neomorph There is no grander scene that in "Star Trek: The Motion Picture", when Kirk and Scotty fly up to the NEW NCC-1701 for the very first time...that music, that grand sweeping regality, with the lights and the revelation of the new Enterprise...it was ethereal.

MemberChestbursterMay-05-2017 9:56 AMStarlogger yeah that awe inspiring moment stood out as one of the most majestic, not only in the Star Trek franchise, but ever imo. It really set the bar for spaceship introductions.
