MemberFacehuggerMay-08-2017 6:04 PMRidley Scott is wrong by stating who created the Xenomorph is revealed in Alien: Covenant. He's basically backtracking on his own logic of Prometheus when in the movie it clearly shows in the big head temple room a Engineer and a Xenomorph depicted on the wall. So therefore it hints that the Engineers are the creators of the Xenomorph.. I'm not sure how he got this all screwed up..Lol

Eine Theorie die nicht auf Etwas solidem basiert ist für gewöhnlich nur Geschwätz.

MemberFacehuggerMay-08-2017 8:47 PMRidley could be talking about the protomorph from AC when he says that David created it. If so, that is not really a huge spoiler, as we have been hearing that for quite some time.

That is not necessarily true. While we know some form of the Xeno already existed before the events of AC due to the mural in Prometheus, we don't know exactly what form of Xeno it is, or if it is even considered a Xeno at all. I know that is nitpicking, but it's still a possibility.

MemberChestbursterMay-08-2017 9:12 PMIt could have also been a neomorph in the mural. The dark material the mural was made of combined with our own expectations when we all watched Prometheus may have just set us up to assume it was a xeno.

MemberOvomorphMay-08-2017 10:00 PMChris had a good thread last year about the mural, and I believe with SRS's focus on defining the mutations that he means the "base" non biomech xeno. The idea of an ancient biomech mistake made by engineers that laid waste to civilizations is awesome to me. It is very promethean that even a culture so advanced would be punished for pushing the limits of life itself.

MemberOvomorphMay-09-2017 10:55 AMSeems to me that Ridley Scott has been really pissed off and/or disturbed by the poor reviews and the relative failure of Prometheus.
However, it is great that he want to give fans f***ing Aliens but he doesn't need to litteraly destroy the revelance of the engineers with Alien Covenant.
One serious issue with Prometheus is the underdevelopment of the engineers going as far as removing parts of the scene with the remaining Engineer and the Prometheus crew.
The Engineers deserved to be more developped and if they were way more present and way more developped in Prometheus, i think that this movie would have been way more entertaining and successful.
For example, there could have been flashbacks related to what happen 2000 years ago and even earlier, more signs of how advanced they are (for example by showing some engineers fighting a swarm of Xenomorph like creatures and blowing them away with some very advanced weapons) and more development of why they want to destroy man kind.
One of the thing i really like in AVP was the flashback scene which is for me the best scene of the whole movie. I would have killed to have an equivalent in Covenant or in Prometheus.
Ridley could have made up for that in Covenant by telling more about the Engineers ways, their civilisations, their capabilities, their gods,etc... while David was studying their datas.
Moreover the Engineers should have been the creators of the Xenomorph.
And last but not least there should have been no Engineer left for David to bomb but only defensive mechanisms (some anti ship weapon which would have for example shut down the Juggernaut, the Neomorph spores, perhaps even an Ultramorph,etc...).
It is a good idea to focus the movie on David, but this focus could also have been used to also explain more about the Engineers themselves and make them more revelant.

MemberFacehuggerJun-09-2017 6:53 AMWhen he says David created the Xenomorph, I'm pretty sure he is talking about the more familiar xenomorph with the dorsal tubes, and dark skin. Remember Xenomorph isn't even a term used in the movie, just what people have been calling the result of a facehugger on a human. Obviously David didn't create the mutagen, so it would almost be dumb of Scott to try and pass off David as the creator of any life form resulting from the mutagen.

MemberNeomorphJun-09-2017 1:48 PMI hope that David or the Engineers would have re-created it but I prefer if the origin to the Xeno would remain unknown.

MemberChestbursterDec-01-2017 2:54 PMit would make sense if david adapted the engineer invented xenomorph to fit his specifications I think this is were they wil go in awakening
