that is interesting. I hope its revealed how it happened. wonder if she grew (bones) in cryo. which could also reveal how maybe the space jokey grew into/out of the pilot chair.

It certainly looks like Shaw. Maybe the prolog was a red herring (meant for us to believe that David had learned the meaning of affection towards another being)?

However, the corps seems to have been chestbursted (or is it an autopsy)? Also, the problem with David creating the eggs (through Shaw?) and the xenomorph is how to connect it to the original Alien movie (the space jockey being fossilized)?

If it's Shaw, and I can't deny the possibility, then my theory is that the stasis tube or prior exposure to the goo causes the changes you see around her head and what not. She starts producing eggs. It's awful for her and she either dies or begs David to kill her, and David nukes the engineers for ruining the only human he liked.

That would also explain his almost sentimental treatment of the eggs. Fun thought experiment.

Lets remember that it was David's fault she got infected in the first place. So i dont buy that he destroyed a civilization because of Shaw

Myrddin365 interesting theory! How do we explain the size of the eggs though? They're 3ft high and 2ft wide, Holloway wasn't a black dude either.

Unless they start small and grow into their full size after Shaw pops 'em out?

I still think the eggs are grown.....somehow. I think he may have improved on an already egg design based on the mural in Prometheus which showed a type of egg facehugger.

@BlackGooDrinker He indirectly poisoned Shaw, well before he knew how it might be passed along, and certainly well before he formed his post-Prometheus bond with her.

I think it's save to assume Shaw is dead.

The person on the table , however, is missing the little pit mark on the nose tip. In my pic the mark is present.

You can see the ribs cut and the skin pulled back right under her chin in orderly autopsy/harvest fashion.

Yes, it'll be interesting to see how the Derelict's Space Jockey on LV-426 became, or appeared, "fossilized". I'm wondering if the Space Jockey was fleeing from David, then David causes it to crash, then he sets up the Space Jockey for impregnation and sends the distress beacon for a future W-Y synthetic to intercept and lead another team (in this case, the Nostromo) to their doom. Of course, I'm assuming that David makes it through Covenant to continue being Dr. Frankenstein :-)

Here are enhanced close ups of the growth around Dr. Shaw and the Space Jockey.

For a cadaver being fossilized it needs to be encased in a medium (mud, earth etc.). Given the right conditions fossilization can even be a matter of months.

Problem is, the Jockey isn't encased.  If anything it is mummified or desiccated. 

This fossilization schedule all changed with the Space Jockey an underlying infection of black goo similar to Dr. Shaw Tiwaz.

It is obvious that the Engineer hypersleep chamber was unable to keep Dr. Shaw from changing with her infection.

The Space Jockey was obviously infected too with the chest busting evidence and appears to further mutate past that injury. 

It actually looks like whatever caused the metamorphosis made her burst from the inside and start producing eggs. The bones holding back the skin appear to be growing into it.and the ribs appear to have grown outward. They don't look broken or cut. That's creepy AF.

Going to be busy today, but will reply to all this new Topics..

When was she infected with the goo? Fo you mean when she was impregnated with holloways sperm? 

Anyways really interesting comparison to the spacejockey.. maybe David tried to splice her with engineer DNA and that is the result?

Yes, Working Joe. Dr. Holloway initially infected her with the black goo on LV-223 once David 8 put it in his drink.

David 8 most assuredly then performed anything you can imagine when working with Dr. Shaw's body and Engineer technology he was harnessing.

I never got the impression she was infected, other than the trilobite she "gave birth to".

Also if she got infected, it would have shown up in Prometheus or atleast in "the crossing" prolouge..             Just one drop of the black pathogen made holloway start mutating within one day, so if shaw was infected with say just a quarter or less of this it would surely have started mutating her in the time they took before leaving LV-223 and her going into hypersleep..

My theory is that David infected her in various ways on "paradise" and then started experimenting with her. 

All I have to say is that you guys take movie viewing to a new level lol.  I wonder how you viewed Memento and Interstellar lol.

One of my biggest gripes is the lack of explanation of what exactly we are looking at regarding Shaw.  The weird mass/bone structure/growth...what the hell is that about? I need some answers!  LOL
