Alien Covenant - Juggernaut + Rock.

In this scene we see the base of the juggernaut for the first time. It has a large hole in the bottom that is used to deploy its bio-weapon (as we see later in the movie). After the ship crashed into the mountain the bomb bay would have scraped across the rocks.

That's also what I've thought, but I have a doubt, I'm not sure but it seems the rock touches the "walls" of the Juggernaut interior.

It does look like the rock is much further up into the ship than expected if it crash landed. If the ship touched down in a controlled manner then I can see it but not the way it came crashing down.

That reminds me, what was it that took the stolen Juggernaut down?

What caused the crash is still a mystery.

im assuming awakening will answer the cause of the crash and other things. one theory is that once david deploys the weapon, he wakes shaw to show her his revenge on her behalf but she doesn't react the way he expected. theres some form of confrontation between them and during this they cause the ship to crash?

Yes I've read that theory. Or maybe something happened between David and the other Enginneer who was controlling the Scorpion ship ; if there was another Enginneer, and if the Scorpion ship wasn't autopiloted...

It's almost like the ship warp/hyper jumped prematurely into the mountain, it seems odd the rock face goes into the ship, like it's grown into it.

I think the simple answer is the Ship Crashed into the Mountain side and kind of Skidded up the Mountain a bit which had like a Water Fall or Stream running down it and the Hole in effect acted like a Ice cream Scoop and Scooped up a bit of the Mountain and Soil and over time this allowed for Moss and other Plant life to start to grow inside.

Yes they make a comment that the source of the signal is in a elevated position to where they had landed.

They seemed to point up at the mountain.

However, there could be more to it.

I suspect we will find a bit more detail when the Blue Ray arrives. Ive spotted a few things im unsure of due to the quality available in home viewings.

Well the signal was coming FROM the Juggernaut, it was a recording of Shaw humming/singing that Take me home song.

I personally think David recorded her in secret and sent it as a distress call personally.

I doubt anyone would divert an important mission like Covenant's to rescue a robot.

Yes, when I look at the last picture, I realize that there is perhaps less rock than I thought, it looks like the room is more filled with moss than rock. I'd like so much that the DVD comes out tomorrow...

One might presume that the Juggernaut got into some sort of battle with the Engineer scorpion tail flagship, and then crashed.  It does look odd, because there's so much rock inside the ship, though.

From a practical standpoint for the film makers, making rocks out of foam is way cheaper and faster than building the other half of the spacecraft set.
