MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 8:03 AMNot criticizing anybody but everybody (including myself) keeps calling the instrument Div'Ed and Walter blow into a "flute". Isn't it actually a recorder, though? I thought a flute was held horizontally and has a different shaped mouthpiece? Just wondering.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched Androids blow and finger each other's flutes.

Wonder Boy
MemberOvomorphMay-21-2017 8:05 AMThe question on the lips of millions of fans who have watched the film. The repercussions of renaming the instrument 'a recorder' (which is what I think it actually is in all seriousness) are massive.

MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 8:06 AMInteresting, Wonder Boy. Explain.

MemberChestbursterMay-21-2017 8:10 AMare we settled on the fact that this has nothing to do with the engineers tech?
one of their children must of left the recorder on the seat after getting picked up after school in that jugganaut.
or maybe making a recorder was part of davids therapy between mutilations.
weyland must of programmed him with the ability to carve instruments to play while on a desert island or planet. never thought that would come in handy but it just shows you if you program ai to do everything, they may just do something amazing.
and make a workable recorder/flute? (im on the fence on this one, sorry)
or he could of been on a salvage mission in the city and bought/stolen one from the wednesday market (which is all i have on the market in the city as clues were rare but its looking like it was held on a wednesday to me)

MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 8:19 AMInteresting, Sherris (are you any relation to Farris, btw?) but I hadn't even given any thought, at least not in the scope of this particular post. Not sure where you are going with your thoughts though, the whole school/kid thing (maybe that was humor/sarcasm?). All I know is that the Engineers in Prometheus certainly had the same/similar instruments to operate things on their ships, but I have no idea if Div'Ed's are the same ones or ones he created himself (sticking with the whole creation theme, albeit loosely). Either way the Engineers certainly possessed "flutes".
EDIT: I see you edited your post soon after and now I am editing mine. I see you being funny now, lol. Well done, I like your sense of humor *sarcasm: OFF*

MemberChestbursterMay-21-2017 8:28 AMwas just having a little fun with that school/market thing.
just after watching the trailers unfold and the potential scenarios in my head, for instance with the flute and it possibly being engineer tech and walter might be learning for part of a plan, the boundaries were limitless and i was so in awe of what was unfolding and then i watch a:c and all of these pieces / clues we have are not spoken of.
so im still having some feelings that a:c underwhelmed with certain areas.
although it did deliver us another alien film.
one that as a standalone action/horror would fit with 100s of other similar films.
in that 3/5 area
i just feel that if a bit more was revealed, such as the flute we are talking about, it could have been that bit more.
and many more fans would of been happy, along with those that are already
thats where i was going with it

MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 8:37 AMThere are many different kinds of flute. Some are blown horizontally and others vertically. They are amongst the oldest of musical instruments.

MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 8:39 AMGot it. @Sherris
A Pied Piper scene with Div'Ed as the Piper would have been pretty f'kin awesome. And also hilarious. I mean he made the f**ker wave its arms, why not have it follow him? Lol.

MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 9:34 AMlol phallic @ WonderBoy. Yes, I guess I am one of those millions that did not concern myself over a flute lol.

MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 9:48 AMThat's only because you were too lost in Fassbender's dreamy eyes to care, Colonial Soldier. C'mon you can be honest with me.

MemberOvomorphMay-21-2017 2:02 PMalmost feels like the pied piper of Hamelin. Kinda sounds like it to me. That impulse was a song which attracted them towards the planet, and so David was the piper who led the children to their death. David the sly dog he is!

MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 3:40 PMI must admit to losing sleep every night wondering if poor Walter was stabbed by a flute, or a recorder
What was it? I MUST SLEEP! :P

MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 4:01 PMlol @Phallic Jaw. Well, I think David is a better pianist that flutist lol.

Phallic Jaw
MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 4:20 PMI agree. And apparently he definitely has a very large Pianist according to all the reports.
Maybe in the next Alien movie we will get to see him and yet another lookylikey play chopsticks LMAO. "I'll 'tickle' your 'ivories', brother". Guffaw.

MemberOvomorphJun-04-2017 6:48 PMMy friend thinks David Is making a pun when he says something along the lines of, you have excellent synths. He thinks 'synths' Is a refference to them being Synthetics, as well as synth, as In the Instrument, a synthesiser, and Its relevance to music.
In my opinion, I do not see this as a pun, and would be pushing the definitions of the words meanings Into such a broad range, anything thats put Into that broad of a range could be made out as a pun.

MemberFacehuggerJun-05-2017 5:59 AMIt wasn't a pun. He says 'You have symphonies in you, brother!'
Although he did offer to finger Walter whilst he gave a good blow...
Phallic Jaw, I love that you call David Div'Ed! He is a bit of a div, waiting until the perfect moment to get Walter's clothes off... Naughty psychopath...
