Which was better- the anticipation leading up to the movie or after seeing it- liking it or not? I haven't seen it but rewatch trailers and get revved up again in antici.................pation.

Both of them, all of them, everything! :)

dk, I think you should watch it at the theatre if you can, there are so unique scenes in the film that a huge screen is needed to the real experience, don't wait for the blu-ray!

The anticipation I'd say. It all comes down to what your expectations are i guess.

If you fully understand what this movie's really about then you won't have any problems. A bad surprise is what could kill the movie for you.

I thoroughly enjoyed it!I'll admit that the anticipation did probably get the best of me,but it was still a great ride front to back.It is certainly a flawed film but I think the same can be said of Any Alien movie since 3

Yeah some scenes are jaw-dropping and deserve to be seen on the big screen.

It's a solid Alien experience, I watched it a second time today and I enjoyed it slightly more.

Here is a good way of explaining what I mean.

I must agree with Ati... The anticipation built up during the last months just weent through the roof. When I finaly got to see it I was at first a little disapointed, but it is a movie that needs a little time to digest. I saw it again today, and now I actually love it. Can't wait for the blueray, so I can watch over and over again! It grows on You. And in many aspects it is a beautiful movie that is very well made. But of course, that's just my opinion ...

After all the recent rants I didn't expect much. Now that i've seen it, well... The movie hard to figure it out.

A:C was hyped way too much for it's own good and i was aware of that from the start. And to be frank IMO the "over analyzing" did it's part in it.

The funny thing is I can't really say if I like it or not.

Actually the trailers never quite managed to get me excited. I was hoping to just ignore the things I didn't like (e.g. shower scene) and to just enjoy the immersive experience, but that didn't happen neither. I was really not asking for much. So yeah, anticipation was better.

Parkerparrot, I know what you are talking about. I mentioned it in other threads previously that at the end of the movie I felt it was not enough. I mean I felt that I wanted the story to continue. The music and the atmosphere of the movie is brilliant - and it is very important to me. I'm a visual type and a film atmosphere-maniac, and this chapter is a visual bomb. For me, it gives more than Prometheus, and is on the same level with Alien.

I can understand the recommendations to see it in the theater. It may sound very strange, but by the time the BR hits, the anticipation will have gone away and it will almost be forgotten about. Viewing will be a new experience albeit a late one. The same goes for a movie like Life- haven't seen it, I know a lot about it and will see it in house.

Trailers never really got me pumped.

There are 30+ scenes in the movie that blew me away and maybe 1 in the trailer.

Come on 4K BLURAY!!!

If you do not watch in theather so you can watch 10-min leaked video to release Blu-ray Disk. But recommed to seen it boombing scene, hold on scene, solar panel scene, neomorph attack in field scene in IMAX or big screen. Cos its space film and color tone is morely brown or dark and thats in big screen look nice detailed. Not like watch on small TV or PC. Also will love sounds too. You can felt yourself in field when neomorph attacked :-))

Sparkz I have no idea what you are trying to say.

dk, I think what Sparkz is trying to say is that a theatre viewing is a more immersive experience.

Dude, if you watch it in the theater, watch it in IMAX.  It is much better quality contrast and image quality-wise.  Otherwise wait for Blu-ray where you can control the brightness imo.

Yes Neomorph & Nycro explained me very well. I try to say it this.

A space film like Gravity, Star Wars etc who had black background and a little spaceship, in big screen it looks more detailed and you can zooming dimesion in it more. But same scenes if you watch on small TV, it's like -- so funny, a black table and a lego spaceship in black...

(Experienced Gravity in big screen & on blu-ray at home)

Anticipation was great, payoff was shit.

Conversely I had zero to no huge anticipation for Prometheus and I LOVED it.

Coincidence?

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.  I watched Androids blow and finger each other's flutes.
