Is Ash of David?

Could have been Batchpool who mentioned the soul or programming?

I mentioned something about a future connection between David/Walter, Ash and Special Order 937.

Lone Maybe it WAS you Lone. That notion checks all the boxes for me and I hope that you're right......I really do...;)

...and no one asked for the explanation. Seems perfect to me.....which is probably why it won't work.

joylitt Ha! Maybe that was a thing back then- he didn't seem overly over weight though and had that running in place thing going for him too. And he gave good magazine.

At the end of the A:C novel David orders Muthur to contact Weyland-Yutani Corporation headquarters on Earth. That's probly how they know.

Strangely i can't remember what i was like in the movie.

@joylitt Ash was bigger than David for sure, but he wasn't that overweight. lol

Lilly (Svanya) He got a little bit of junk though. And I think it's fine. A smart move from Weyland Yutani to make a bunch of chubby robots: you are not as obvious as David or Walter's mannequin looks.

@dk and @joylitt I just want to point out that Ash wasn't made by Weyland Yutani, he was made by rival company Hyperdyne Systems.

You may be right in an indirect way. If these prequels end with David uploading himself into the WY mainframe, he would be able to issue directives to both MUTHUR and Ash.

Hyperdyne or not he's still an android, programmed and working for W-Y. 

The first Hyperdyne Systems series were constructed by the Weyland Corporation based on designs from the late Sir Peter Weyland's notes, Weyland-Yutani Report, page 35.  

The report was released years after Aliens and it could have been a connection to Peter Weyland (Hyperdyne models) added later by the report authors.  There could be a strong chance that Ash is David based on the WY report and how Ash was handled in Alien: Out of the Shadows.  

The report, on page 35, speaks of Artificial Persons' personality and how it is stored and transferred, see below.  

"'Personality' subprograms could be downloaded depending on the AP application, and all models ran a laboratory installed subprogram that ensured complete loyalty to Company interests."

David and Ash's photos are on opposite pages when discussing the "Personality" on page 34 and 35.

Alien: Out of the Shadows Novel

I find the below portion of the novel very interesting as well.

“‘It’s a ship,’ he said.
‘What?’ Ripley gasped. She hadn’t even considered that possibility. Buried almost a mile beneath the planet’s surface, surely this couldn’t be anything but a building, a temple of some sort, or some other structure whose purpose was more obscure.’”
