1.) Connect the dots properly (Canon)
2.) Ask "experts" how things are done/designed (Military, Engineers, Shipwrights, Scientists etc.)
3.) Tell the story in a way that even Donald Duck understands. Nudges and hints for a "deeper" meaning are ok but shouldn't be the main element of storytelling. People don't like movies they don't understand.
4.) Get a decent writer. Preferably someone who was around in the 70ties.
5.) Don't limit it to ~2 hrs playtime.
6.) Use gore carefully. Tons of blood rarely equals a good movie.
7.) Decent character development.
8.) Try artists from outside the movie industry like '78 (Gutalin, Filip Acovic etc.)
