MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 10:01 AMWhat is the plan here?? We just have had confirmation that the prequel novel won't even discuss the Engineers or Shaw, not to mention rumors that Awakening will just be an Aliens clone. Why did we chase Ridley away from these God-like beings?? Were we really that easily offended by something other than evolution?? Are we really that pathetic that a piece of FICTIONs idea of our origins was enough to make us actually ANGRY????? Great job guys! Really, astounding work! And now this franchise is run into the ground because of us. Congrats guys. Congrats that you couldn't handle something that questions evolution.

MemberOvomorphJun-07-2017 3:58 PMI'm assuming the novel will be the basis of Alien Awakening. I loved Covenant, but this direction sounds incredibly strange. Hoping there is some information left out.
What drew me to alien was the biological aspect of birth, creation and biomechanic aesthetics. If that's not present then I'm not interested.

MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 4:02 PM@djamelameziane - Thumbs up for Space Balls. "Check please."
The Xenomorph is secondary, until, the 1979 ALIEN. I feel like knowing the politics of Weyland-Yutani, and their agenda, will fill a plot hole that was only briefly touched on in ALIENS. We know Weyland, but Yutani is a bit of a mystery.

MemberPraetorianJun-07-2017 5:20 PMFirst, THANK-YOU guys for the kind words about my works and fanfiction writers in general!! :) (HUG)
It seems we have much work ahead in keeping the torch of this franchise lit and alive vs the typhoon of b-thriller, cliche`, trope-ish Grisham-wannabe 'canon' that FOX is throwing around.
ALIEN: Manticore is coming along very nicely and don't worry, there's NO EVIL CORPORATE CONSPIRACY cliche` involved.
I won't do that to my readers, and I won't put myself through the Grey Swamp of writing it.
Actually, I don't think W-Y is even mentioned in my story...and probably never will be. I'm pretty sick of always hearing about Weyland-Yutani Plot.
UPDATE:
ALIEN: Manticore is at the point where i've been working for weeks to get to, which addresses:
'what's been going on inside that building for the past 40-odd years since Prometheus?'
Starting from here, things get pretty complicated, as I have to use minatures and a diorama (sorta kit-bashed expedient) to keep track of who and what is where and what's going on. :D
Too bad Milburn's dead, he'd LOVE the 'petting zoo' that's evolved in there. :D
SPOILER-ish stuff:
If you thought 'cuddles' the Trilobite was bad news, just wait.
Hammerpedes are a LOT worse than Milburn and Fifield experienced. They got off easy.
NO Queen Xenomorphs, and they're not needed. :D
It's about a LOT more than just 'critters in a shooting gallery'.
WHY did the Engineers have 5 buildings there? What were they used for?
What are the true origins of The Alien?
What is the Space Jockey?
The final fate of The Deacon is addressed.

MemberPraetorianJun-07-2017 5:42 PMBlackwinter-witch no worries. I know you have been working closely within the Prometheus pre-covenant timeline!
I have suspended work on Pandion for now, but will definitely return to it.
I hit a wall, then wanted to flesh out a newly introduced character to take the story forward, which has now turned into an entire new story in its own right. One that I think has potential to be more exciting and explore more widely... and doesn't involed W-Y being nefarious and evil either. quite the opposite....sort of.
But I am super excited about what it reveals about the engineers!!!
Update to come.

MemberOvomorphJun-07-2017 6:36 PMThis isn't a huge deal guys. The way I see it, maybe they still want to do reveals about David and Shaw's time together on screen in the next one. If they're saving it for later, why bother blowing it in a book?

MemberTrilobiteJun-07-2017 6:50 PMDavid001 Why would they want to save the David/Shaw dynamic pre Covenant for the next movie?

TY for your words, I get worried at times that things are taking too long, then I remind myself that I don't want to rush things and make avoidable mistakes or catastrophic omissions. :)
I know what you mean!! That's why I wrote 'The Lander', and as I suspect you know I along with others eagerly look fwd to reading your pieces when they're done! :)
In a manner, yes. ALIEN: Manticore is presently close to 80,000 words and I still have a large story section to work on, so trying to do it via 'posts' would be problematic.
I will post Scribd and Google drive links to it and it will be PDF format, same as I did with my story 'The Lander'. That's the best way I've found thus far to make it easily available for evertone to read and download.

MemberFacehuggerJun-08-2017 2:23 PMlol @Capt Tango. Yes, us fans have a profound effect on the future screenplay of Alien films lol. Reminds me of a Saturday Night live skit lol. I do not want Engineers!! If that is the case; then it is not an Alien movie.

MemberPraetorianJan-16-2020 9:38 AMNo Engineers in the Prequel novel!
Say it ain't so.
It is.
BigDave
MemberDeaconJan-16-2020 5:22 PMDiscussed this before....
It certainly was something that i think the Fans thought would have Covered the Events around David and Dr Shaw and so i think Fans may have expected a Extending The Crossing kind of Novel.
But alas it was a Prequel Novel to the Covenant Mission.
The Book Cover was also Very Deceiving
Something like this i Knocked Up would be more Fitting!
As the Mission is about a Group of Humans who wish to GET AWAY from the Hell that Earth has become to seek a New Home and a New Start. But then about the Attempted Sabotage of the Covenant Mission.
But for Marketing Purposes the BOOK Cover they gave us would likely Trick Fans to thinking more of a Connection to the Xenomorph etc and so to get more Sales/$$$$
Similar Trick they used for the Alien Covenant poster.

MemberDeaconJan-16-2020 6:30 PMI will add that i do think a Prequel Novel that Covers David and Dr Shaw is something that is WARRANTED.
There is Quite a lot of Shenanigans that had Transpired from when the Juggernaught carrying David and Dr Shaw arrived at Planet 4, until the Weeks after David had Achieved his Masterpiece and NOW is just AWAITING the Arrival of any would be Visitors to his Paradise.
You could also have some Coverage of what Happened after David and Dr Shaw discovered the Juggernaught, until just prior to David arriving at the System that contains the Engineers Home World.
There is a STORY to be TOLD... a Potentially Dark and Sinister one at that.... we only have a Glimpse at Davids Work Shop and Notes/Drawings...
A Picture Paints a Thousand Words..... but a Painting does-not tell the Full Story!
