The crashed Alien Mothership can be seen at the end of the movie!

A conversation between concept artists Wayne Haag and Steve Burg (in the comment section of the page showing the Alien Mothership textures) reveals that there was a battle between the two alien ships and both of them crashed after it.

According to Wayne Haag, the Mothership appears in the scene that shows the Lifter leaving the city.

Steve Burg:

You know how when you work on things, you kind of "live there"? With this, I was imagining all the things that might have been going on inside this giant craft - which I guess is sort of the "Coast Guard" for the planet. Since it's nowhere to be seen later on, and the Juggernaut is crashed miles away, there must have been quite a "dust-up" after David dropped the black goo!

Wayne Haag:

You can see it crashed further up the valley when the Lifter leaves the city! You have to look quick though!

Steve Burg:

No kidding? Wow, I will have to try and spot that!

Ripleys_Ghost, thank you for the movie still:

So that giant scorpion-craft prevented a global (black goo) contamination with that "dust-up" and knocked down the small juggernaut in the meantime?

Would make sense when the local lifeforms know what David dropped on them.

But the film presented it in this way that the whole Planet 4 is contaminated with the black goo?!

Or maybe just the area around the giant Engineer city, which would mean maybe 10-20 kilimeters in radius.

We will see.

Gralen, no, I guess the phrase 'dust-up' refers to his thought/the fact that we don't know where the Mothership is, it disappeared.

That's why Haag reveals that 'it crashed further up the valley' so we know where it is. There was no 'dust-up'.

Dust up in that sense is a fight. English term

sherris, I mean the same, there had been no such a profound 'dust-up' that ended with the total destruction of the Mothership: it can be seen at the end of the movie crashed 'up the walley'.

I did not see anything that would lend itself to this...Did someone someone else see the crashed Alien Scorpion in the movie...?

I wonder how much it costs to produce something in the film that know one ever sees? Well, maybe the director's cut ...

Just from a pragmatic point of view.

Do you think the structure was fully automated or was it crewed with some dozens of humanoids?

If im not mistaken the black goo dropped downwards and missed the scorpion completly.

If the ship crashed then it cant be becuase of the small Juggernaut. Just compare the two ships. A mouse cant move an Elephant. So ramming is not an option.

Ati - i see now. im slow u know ;)

Anyways that is a great spot. i never noticed it. i will check it on the next watch.

Speaking of small detail:

I have been pausing some scenes in the city and it looks like there are 2 types of hands when waving. dont know if its a budget issue or purposely done.

So there will be a few bits to debate when blue-ray hits and we can see more detail

Sherris has got a naughty copy...Sherris has got a naughty copy...

:D

Butt seriously what is this place it's not making sense as usual... if they are the same engineers as Prometheus then why do they have almost nothing.

If they got almost wiped out way back why do they still have a gaint scorpion thingy and a city still tiny and defenceless... hmm. No other engineers in space or planet? None visited in 10 years?

"It's almost as if they are making it up as they go along" :D

sherris, damn, we have to rewatch the movie! :)

As for the inhabitants waving, one of them is wearing white clothes. I thought he was a king or something similar. Or he got more light in that scene... :)

Theory:

Pitched battle between the Juggernaut piloted by David and the Scorpion Tail mothership.  Scorpion wins, Juggernaut crashes... but the crew of the Scorpion Tail succumbs to the black goo mutagen.

Shame that we didn't get to see this.  Because that's what the audience wants to see.

Good theory - or David knows the weak points of the Mothership, that can be a part of the explanation as well.

Does anyone want to speculate about what type of weapons might have been used?   Seems like the integrity of the ships hulls looks pretty good, but the propulsion systems got trashed.

Ati

MemberPraetorianJun-08-2017 5:21 PM

Yeah, we don't know anything about their weapons. I'm sure Scott wants to reveal info about them in the next movie. That's why he mentioned the War of the Worlds scenario.

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2017 5:34 PM

The Juggernauts don't seem to have much of a shielding system since they allowed the Prometheus craft to crash into them. They didn't seem to have any kind of automated weapon system either.   The Engineers apparently don't expect to have run-ins with anyone but their own kind - and then they just call their insurance agents!

MemberPraetorianJun-08-2017 5:52 PM

Or we haven't seen their battle fleet yet... :)

@Ati: Do you have a link for where RS refers to the War of the Worlds scenario?

We know this planet was hidden but why? If you have seen the Crossing you can see Shaw and David are working out the coordinates to this planet as it was probably not in the engineers juggernaut star maps.

Is there an agenda the mods are not telling us about? ;)

Engineer weapons?

Hmm i hope we will see some kind of firearms of them.

from what i saw their technology involves music, a liquid transmission substance and holograms.

Im sure their weapons fire some sort of heavy duty lasers and dont rely on projectiles like humans weapons/firearms.

Or maybe yes projectiles but in a railgun manner with extra hard substances for maximum penetration.

We will see.

I saw the movie two hours ago and I noticed the ship in the background area!

Because you knew where to look for it. :)

Our new task is to find Elizabeth behind a tree. :D

Nathan Adler - No, I don't. I saw that line in a written form, please forgive me if that source was not reliable.

I can confirm Dust Up is indeed a Fight, its more commonly used in the UK, and when we use the term it usually means some minor fight or disagreement so its used to describe two people have a disagreement that turns to a bit of violence before being split up.

Thanks Again for this Research ATI ;)

Very interesting find... it does now seem to indicate that after David starts the Bombardment the Mother-naught if you would realized and tried to intervine in some manner that ended up with both Ships Crashing.

That capture looks a bit odd like its just glued there, but i cant wait to the Blu-ray so we get Full HD Detail.

This certainly answers a Long Standing Question, as far as wondering where did the Scorpion-ship get to... we can now Rule out the Ships leaves Paradise to Warn others.

We can now Speculate that the beings (if any) on the Mother-naught/Scorpionaught would maybe not be infected by the Bombardment and so maybe the Crash left them injured and incapacitated... this would indeed provide David with Hosts for his Experiments and also Fresher Engineer Bodies for his Studies.

So this SOLVES TWO Mysteries ;)

Wayne Haag revealed the secret, I just copied here the comment in question. :)

The Storms could hide the surface from detection but indeed surely a ship heading near this System would detect a World thats potentially habitable. We can assume the Covenant once they detected where the Signal came from had indeed surveyed the World and confirmed from long range sensors it indeed looked more suitable than Origae-6

Good Point about Shaw plotting a course, i thought it was because she did not trust David at this point as he was in TWO Halves, and once he was back together they then activated the Navigation System and David could then automatically direct the ship there..

Thats what i assumed, as i would assume David had to keep his Cards close to his chest, as if Shaw knew she could get to Paradise without David being put back together, then she would have no need for him.. So David must have had her believe that he is needed in ONE Piece in order to operate he Ship, and i assume in the 6 Months or so before she decided to reattach his head.. David may have told Shaw where roughly Paradise is... and so Shaw was Plotting where to go.  As i would assume the Navigation System would have there homeworld in it.

So indeed BlackGooDrinker what you offer is a alternative way to look at it, as in a Fail-Safe where they wont leave directions to get to their home-world so easy.

As far as Engineer Weapons.. this would be interesting we can surely assume a Ancient Race at some point created various Weapons.

Fire and Stone Comics have a Engineer Energy Weapon Gun

Spaights Alien Engineers

"As they stare inside, baffled, the wall across the corridor -
directly behind them - silently unravels. The Sleeper is
revealed, a towering gargoyle in his flight suit.
He steps forth. Obscure devices clutched in his fists.
Too late they perceive him. They spin. Raise their guns.
Vanity and foolishness. This is the wrath of an angry god.

It seems time slows down.

The air roars in their ears. Their guns snap and bark
impotently. And then the Sleeper strikes.
The missiles he hurls at them are almost invisible. Neither
solid projectiles nor directed energy; more like knots tied
in the fabric of space itself.
The first missile crushes Ray like an invisible fist. The
second splashes Glasse against the wall like an insect."

Seems to imply the Engineer had like Gauntlets on that allowed them to use like Jedi-Sith Force kind of attacks.

Or alternatively it could be interpreted as having like Balls that he throws at them.

So indeed it would be interesting to see Engineer Weapons explored but i think on Film, Sadly we wont be seeing the Engineers again... not for a long time anyway.
