’Concept art for the Plaza on the alien world. Some of these were very early Art Dept paintings with a couple of isolated buildings done towards end for VFX. The loose study is more of a mood board, of which there were many, illustrating the various stages of the expedition- these were done for Chris Seagers and Ridley Scott, who boarded most of his film, to help define the story beats. A nice change from the more resolved, finished pieces.’
From the comments:
Wayne Haag: ’Nice Ev.. pity the big heads weren't seen in the plaza!’
Ev Shipard: ’Cheers, I'm pretty sure there was one on set somewhere but unfortunately I didn't see it in the film. It was milled from the Zbrush asset.’
And… yes, it was built but we didn’t see it in the movie:
And probably this is the head Shipard mentions:

MemberDeaconJun-11-2017 5:59 PMIts a shame the other sets was never used in the movie, they had built two different Temple Steps Sets and only the one appears to be used in the movie.
So its sad that those earlier released set photos was never used but maybe this is why they was used.
Looking at the toppled over body with no head, this statue does now seem to be what are on top of those Giant Pillars, and they do showcase them as very large and certainly similar to how they intended the Space Jockey to look in ALIEN 22-24ft but not how it appeared 13-15ft
The head however is not part of these statues, its a separate Head Statue Monument like in Prometheus and the Hall of Heads
Its nice to see this has a very Valley of the Kings/Luxor Egypt look to them as far as the first image.

You think they did not use them intentionally because these items were in the leaked images... Yeah, it's possible.
