so how did all your theories turn out?

also, what were ur theories? what did u see happening and did u come up with something cool that would have helped the film?

Mine went pretty good. However considering the time i put into it i must admit after the first watch i was sore !!

As a major Prometheus/Alien fan i wanted to know what answers we might get since it was coming across it was a Prometheus sequel. So i decided to see if i could piece together the story and associate the marketing trailers, screen shots etc.. into it.

I managed it. It took me 100s of hours. Finally i had something i was happy with. BUT....

I soon realised that there were only a few opportunities for reveals and that David would be potentially lying in the scenes i had marked for reveals.

Then i watched A:C and it brushed aside the opportunities it had for reveals. Some small dialogue placed into the film at key stages would of allowed this exact story to be told AND reveal some answers from Prometheus. But no!

So after searching through every piece of marketing and trailers, pausing, writing notes etc.. to realise what i am looking for is not going to be found this time.

So A:C let me down not because i knew the plot. i wanted to. that part is ok. But because it was billed as a Prometheus sequel and did not deliver what it said on the tin. (RS mouth)

Would i do it all again ? For sure. But only in this franchise.

Maybe Westworld too.

I most definitely wont be doing all the theorising again. ill be on to see what people have heard and see the leaked set pictures folk get their hands on but im not going to put myself up for such a disappointing fall again.

david touches on the black goo a bit but again there r still some questions surrounding it. I remember myself and quite a few others talking about how they were going to get the covenant onto planet 4. I think most believed he was sending a message to weyland and they send out a ship so I got that bit wrong aswell haha

Yes it was terrible. walking out of the cinema post A:C i was never touching anything from the franchise again.

I couldnt even comment on here i was that flat. But hey it is not the end of the world it is just a film we stupidly invested too much time in. Although i must admit the worst part is that they could of told the EXACT story they did AND kept the Prometheus fans happy with some answers using small dialogue at a few points during the film.

Mind saying that i have watched A:C maybe 15 times now and i like it. Guess i must still have a bit of hope for A:A

sherries, I hold hope for AA as it cant be any worse, could it it? iv only watch AC once and with it being a naughty copy the quality want great. im hoping a better quality version will do it wonders but even bad quality cant hide no character building, no answers and bad pacing.

I figure I will be wrong about Awakening and will try to not get so involved in theories- especially with very misleading teasers.

Had a lot of theories and debates leading upto AC for sure, and seems a number are off...   What Killed the Engineers Debates

However my theories on that could still apply as far as a Potential Fail Safe to Davids attack either carried out on the Scorpion Ship, or the Cathedral Dome.   As far as the effects of the Black Goo on those Engineers.

But since AC, i have my NUKE Theory ;)

Some of my theories are within the Ball Park though, one of my theories i made a topic on was not quite covered, or close.. However recently Concept work came out.

It appears at this Stage of Production... my Females theory is indeed pretty accurate if not what they was going for ;)

Back Early December, bare in mind those Concept Images only came out the last few weeks.... my theory was reading into Covenants Set Clues, some my theories prior and also what the Source i had 2.5 years ago had hinted towards. ;)

"no character building". That's plain ridiculous. Many characters in the movie have distinct personalities that are well developed. Was David's character developed any less than, say, Lambert's in the movie Alien? Was Oram's obsession with religion and belief any less developed than Dallas's attitude towards science? Was Lopé's focus on security any less developed than Brett's laissez faire concern about money? I could go on. And on.

"ridiculous pacing". It is true that the end was too rushed. It should have been a 2.5 hour movie, but these are very very rare in Hollywood these days.

"wtf were the engineers?". There is endless speculation about Engineer society, their motivations and history. This movie thankfully does not dwell on that to any great extent. It will be expanded upon in one or more further movies.

Well said Ali, yeah there was just so much potential and the lead up was just great. Rebellions are built on hope! I'm glad many here do enjoy AC but I'm glad this site seems to lead ........where we respect that we each have different tastes. Blaming Bug(aliens) fans for issues or Ridley fans vs Cameron fans is just no good for anybody. Personally I'm just heartbroken over my busted theories and dashed hopes of Paradise/AC.......... already watched 8 times but I will not buy this Blu-ray until a few years until it's dirt cheap on eBay. My favorite statement somebody said was 'Prometheus shot in the head by Covenant"! David creating xenos and huggers is kinda cool, super fast growth rate/incubation=fine. But like Ali said with the terrible characters and their unbelievable dialogue/lack of=unforgivable. 

Hox- David tells Oram and gang it's safe at his necropolis....... Rosenthal munched and Oram still follows David after the Android tries to prevent the murder of his demon.....then Oram sees his Zoological lab of DEMONS and still won't shoot David.....to then stick his head into a egg. Not to mention Oram says "I saw the devil as a child" or I will ruin your posture.........this is trash elitist dialouge from Ridley and the box office has spoken. Glad you enjoyed it

Guys, When I found out David just rolled in there & bombed the Engineers/Humanoids/Planet 4 Inhabitants, I almost did not go see AC.  I saw it once & I think that was enough?  Very low-hanging fruit AC was as compared to Prometheus.  AC left me feeling there were no more concepts to discuss, or at most 5 concepts as compared to the endless possibilities presented in Prometheus.  Simple minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, but great minds talk about concepts!  AC is very average-minded, IMHO.

@Capt Torgo, I am more than happy to disagree with you.

David told many lies in this movie. The crew obviously had no reason to expect he was a liar until his deception became obvious. You may recall that Oram did have laser sights trained on David's heart and the only reason he didn't shoot him there and then was because he wanted the facts of the situation.

Oram didn't stick his head into the egg. He was still a fair distance away when the facehugger leaped out. Maybe Oram didn't get the memo from you that he was in an Alien movie. And maybe you didn't get the message that he was Head of Life Sciences and might just have a gripping interest in that kind of thing.

"You're going to tell me what's going on here or I will seriously fuck up your perfect composure" is a great line. It's actually pretty funny in a black humour way.

It may have gone right over your head, but referring to seeing the Devil as a child was a reference to Oram's early experiences of evil in the form of child abuse. It's not trash dialogue at all. Far from it.

One thing I did notice was that the screenwriters added more dialogue than was strictly necessary, and this was doubtless in no small part because of the hordes of sub-par reviewers who unfairly criticised Prometheus. For example, in this movie it's not enough to explain that a shockwave hit the ship; it actually has to be spelled out in stark and concrete terms what it is to get past the Prometheus-type critics. There are many other similar example that you can spot if you look for them.

@Cerulean Blue, AC dwelled on some pretty lofty concepts like free will, evil, creation and slavery. Your comment doesn't really bear up.
