Who knows if RS will be going for a Redesign though... showing something more Synthetic for the Space Jockey when he reaches the Climax of his Prequels could well Damage the Reputation and Image that ALIEN has set in Fans minds for nearly 40 years.
It will interesting to see where they go with the Space Jockey and a lot had feared it would be David or a Human or another Synthetic in a Suit.... But when a Interview from RS was released in late June i think? Where he spoke about the Next Movie we will see the return of the Engineers as they arrive to find Planet 4 Decimated.
This gives us hope that beings related to the Engineers will return and hopefully they will Ultimately be where the Space Jockey comes from.
The Size Difference is Key.... RS had invisioned the Space Jockey to be 26ft or so, but the Illusion created was only about 22ft when he used the entering the Chamber Shot (where he used Child Actors) and this was totally offset by using the close ups of the actual Actors and so the Space Jockey was only 16ft Prop which means the Pilot would be 13-15ft Tall.
This is what the Status Quo was for the Prequels, with Spaights Alien Engineers and the 15ft Engineer Race... which got toned down to 12ft in latter Drafts.
When Prometheus was being shot the idea was now 9-10ft tall, but alas all we have is 7ft+ Actors in Space Suits that created the illusion of a 8ft Space Suited Engineer Tops... The Cryo-Pods only holding a 7.5ft Maximum Humanoid.
Alien Covenant we got varied Engineer sizes, but it looked like they was between 6-7ft tall. So i think we can accept these Engineers are all different Sizes, and the LV-223 Engineers who also look more like the Sacrificial One are between 7 to 7.5ft Tall.
But this does not add up to the Space Jockey, but then the Derelict does not quite look like the Juggernaughts and clues now seem to indicate maybe those Engineers on LV-223 and Paradise/Planet 4 are indeed Creations and Serve at least a Hierarchy of similar Humanoid Beings... who could be the Portrayal that RS/FOX are going for as far as the Elders.
A few who have worked on Prometheus and Alien Covenant, included Wayne Haagg had speculated that the Engineers in Prometheus may have Stolen or Borrowed the Technology they posses.
So i think this leaves it very open to introduce the Space Jockey as a Ancient Race/Being who are above the Engineers and who either commissioned re-designed Technology for the Engineers to use for the Agenda and Purpose of these beings... or that these Engineers had rebelled and Stolen/Re-engineered this Ancient Races Technology.
So its going to be interesting how Ridley Scott introduces the Space Jockey Event, i think it would be wise to introduce a Race/Being that is 12-15ft Tall for this Purpose and use Technology that Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings/Hobbit has used to make Human Actors look Taller or Smaller.
It will be interesting to see if the Space Jockey we will be shown in RS Planned Prequels looks more like the One on that DVD BOX Set... or if they will show us a more Organic Version than the Prometheus One.
But i think those expecting it to NOT be a SPACE SUIT will never get what they wanted.
