MemberFacehuggerAug-23-2017 12:40 PMProbably unrelated but I've some more clear pics of the engineers in the temple

MemberPraetorianAug-23-2017 10:01 PMI love that shot TheXenoneoprotomorph because it shows how the stones fit together similar to structures found on ancient sites on Earth.

MemberFacehuggerAug-24-2017 7:00 AMI LOVE IT!!
Also, I really do think David appeared to be crying as he bombed them?
Ingeniero
MemberPraetorianAug-24-2017 1:00 PMYes, he was crying. Discipline is very tough on those who must apply it. The Engineers didn't have time to cry.

MemberTrilobiteAug-24-2017 1:03 PMIt is also interesting to see how the ships look completely unlike all the buildings and architecture.
TheXenoneoprotomorph
MemberFacehuggerAug-24-2017 1:17 PMWell yeah, but like somebody said, you don't see our buildings being made, out of spaceship parts
Ingeniero
MemberPraetorianAug-24-2017 4:42 PMYes dk. I wanted a slice of Engineer architecture.
The pyramids and internal shots of the juggernaut on LV-223 are missing though (will have those soon).

MemberFacehuggerAug-25-2017 10:57 AMDo a lot of the buildings in the first pics from the OP have gold structures on top of them? Can't tell if it's the image or reflective gold, but if so, maybe a source for solar power. I know it's been mentioned in many other topics, but I didn't notice as much gold in other pics.
Ingeniero
MemberPraetorianAug-25-2017 3:47 PMYes drucea. A few of us were very excited when the gold-topped structures showed up in the trailers and we discussed the significance earlier in the year. Thank you for citing it again.
BigDave, chli, and I (and others) discussed this a while back in regards to the gold structures and what they were (energy source, weapon, artwork).

A bit like Yazd in Iran, or even Ancient Quarter of Jerusalem"
Thank you BigDave for every comment.

Especially the one by Fabrizio Clerici
You could almost imagine the Engineers having what would be Flying Cities where they could DEPART a World if Needed. so Flying Cities that would LAND and Set-Up on a Planet but be able to Depart when Needed, Cities that are maybe Flying Platforms of say a 2-3KM Diameter.

MemberNeomorphJun-02-2020 3:21 AMNot too impressed with it, it is like they live in stone huts in some village or similar. They should have had a better design, for example bio-mechanical so that is something that was disappointing about Alien Covenant. Maybe they were just a faction that decided to live some place else.
I have looked around for Gothic architecture, it seems alright. Maybe they could have something that is inspired by that if they get to the Engineer planet. Search at Google to see what that is like. Combine that with the Giger style and it could be interesting.

MemberFacehuggerJun-02-2020 9:32 AMThere is much that is left unexplained about the Engineer society. What we have seen suggests that they live a kind of religious life, like monks, shunning the trappings of material wealth, and focusing on matters like 'gardening'. Natural stone isn't a bad choice if you live that way.
As for the business of the Giger ship and biomechanics, another faction could be ultimately responsible, or perhaps it's something that appeared somewhere hundreds of millions of years ago, perhaps even from another race of beings. Lots of possibilities, one reason I like the Engineer aspect so much.

MemberDeaconJun-03-2020 12:27 PMI think Aesthetically we do see that Planet 4 does have some of the Bio-Mechanical which may seem Restricted to the Juggernauts and Docking Ship.
The other Buildings may have that Ancient look to them but it seems they also have Technology so its NOT like they are as Advanced as say Mankind Culture was 2000 Years+ ago.
Many of our Ancient Buildings that are in USE as of Today would NOT rely on Ancient Heating and Lighting as they would have when First Constructed for Example.
So it seems the Technology or Limitations on Planet 4 apart from for the USE in Certain Areas (Ships) is either a Cultural Thing like say the Amish People do, or Controlled and Limited by the Hierarchy where Certain Technology is ONLY really Used/Permitted for Certain things.
We could also maybe NOT rule out that their Ancestors had Turned away and Abandoned Certain Technology but i dont BUY that due to the Scorpion Docking Ship and how the Engineers reacted to seeing a Incoming Engineer Ship.
I think we can look at Ancient Cultures on Earth, where the Kings and the Like would LIVE in Places that are FAR more Luxurious and Furnished than the Majority of Normal Folk, the cultural Divide between the Kings and common Folk was Quite a lot in some Ancient Cultures.
As far as Clothing, Furnishings..... your common Folk would not have Posh Armour, Chairs, Tables or Thrones...
So the Engineers Culture could only Permit the more Advanced Technology to Certain Appointed Tasks and those who Carry them out, and also the Hierarchy/Governors of their Society.

That is an interesting comment about the Amish people and that might be a part of the answer. I am not sure about the rest even though I understand what you are saying about common people not having thrones and so on. Yes there could be a way that it could be the case in the Engineer society, I just wish that it would look more space-y and odd instead of what they went with but they could handle that in a better way if we will get another movie. Sure this could have been done in Alien Covenant, wouldn't you say so? Perhaps they thought by the reaction that people did not like the Engineers so maybe they did not think that it was worth it to have more than that. Hopefully we will see more of the LV223 Engineers in the next movie and not as much of those in Alien Covenant even though they could be a part of it.
