MemberPraetorianSep-08-2017 1:01 PMAs you know, Alien: Covenant will be released in Japan on September 15, 2017.
Let’s look at Alien Covenant’s current theatrical performance:
Domestic Box Office: $ 74 million
Worldwide Box Office: $ 232 million
Alien Covenant Japanese trailer:
What do we know about the numbers delivered by Prometheus (2012)?
Prometheus brought $ 21,8 million in Japan in 2012.
Its domestic box office was $ 126,5 million, and earned $ 402,5 million worldwide.
As for Prometheus’ Home Market Performance, its total domestic video sales is close to $ 44 million.
Let’s hope Covenant will repeat the Japanese number earned by Prometheus.

MemberOvomorphSep-09-2017 5:43 AMWhy they get the movie so late? Part of me thinks that with all the critical response at this point they won't be able to enjoy it. I'm thankful I was able to see Covenant without having my opinion adulterated by many reviews. I was able to develop a negative opinion all on my own. :-p In any case, looking forward to what the numbers will show. Or any Japanese reviews, for that matter?

MemberPraetorianSep-10-2017 10:41 AMAre we unreasonable to expect additional "Alien: Covenant" stories (promotions) such as Phobos and Advent in the run up to the Japanese release and the Alien: Covenant prequel novelization released this month as well?

MemberChestbursterSep-10-2017 11:21 AMI really hope the Japanese release helps out the overall box office for Covenant, don't let me down Nippon! Also can't wait for the Origins novelization.

MemberNeomorphSep-18-2017 12:51 PMMy guess is that it will make less than Prometheus in Japan as well. There hadn't been an alien movie since 1997 when Prometheus was released (not counting the AVP's). Prometheus was a disappointment so my guess is that it will make less in Japan as it as done in other countries this far but we'll see.
