MemberPraetorianOct-01-2017 9:08 AMBlack Out 2022, the third prequel short to Blade Runner 2049 has arrived.
’Directed by Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo's Shinichiro Watanabe, Blade Runner Black Out 2022 is a new and highly-anticipated short which serves as a prologue for the upcoming feature film Blade Runner 2049.’
The short is fantastic in my opinion and after watching it I started to think about a possible Alien movie with a year in its title. Would you like to see an Alien movie with a year in the title? If you could what year would it be?

What do we know about Black Out 2022?
’In 2022, an EMP detonation has caused a global blackout that has massive, destructive implications all over the world.’
Watch the short:

MemberChestbursterOct-01-2017 4:22 PMFirst off, I LOVED the short! I enjoyed the first two by Luke Scott (I think Nexus Dawn was my favorite becuase of Leto's performance), but this short by Mr. Watanabe was AWESOME!
A year in the title of an Alien film hmmm...
Well, if there was ever an Engineer film, maybe have it like "A L I E N: 2000," just some number such as that. Cover the story of how the Lv_223 outbreak actually went. Or I could imagine a politcal/corporate thriller with Guy pearce returning as Weyland! Maybe, A L I E N: 2023? Or Prometheus: 2023 (I like that better!)
I am very very slooooowly working on a story sequel to, "Alien: Isolation," and I think a title for that story could be "Isolation: 2138" or something! 2038 because it is the year following the game's events (I think). Not sure I would do it, but I have to thank you as I really like the idea of having the title be, "Isolation: (insert subname here)"
It just comes down to choosing a story/setting that needs the year in it. Whatever makes sense for the story, you know?

I don't like the title Alien - Awakening, so I wouldn't dislike the title Alien 2120 for the closing prequel. (Alien takes place in 2122.)
Something strange:
I thought that the whole Aliens movie took place in 2179, but I've just found an Alien timeline where it is stated that Ripley is found in 2179, taken to Gateway station in 2181, and the Hadley Hope part is in 2183, plus Alien3 is in 2184. LOL

MemberChestbursterOct-01-2017 9:06 PMReally?? That;s crazy! I also thought that Ellen was found in 2178! Honestly, I doubt that timeline, but with the way the canon changes and evolves, it doesn't seem TOO out there... I found this timeline with a quick search: Alien Anthology on Wikia. In the description, the person who wrote it confirmed that Sir Ridley... confirmed that Bladerunner and Alien are in the same universe. I am not sure that this is actually a fact!

MemberDeaconOct-02-2017 7:09 AMi like the LV-223 Outbreak idea, it would be interesting to see this explored, i may even consider doing my own take on either this event or the Crossing.
As far as a Name? I would think that ALIEN: DISSOLUTION
Would fit... as it can be put down as AD which marks the 2000 years ago period also Dissolution is synonymous with Death, but also the Natural Dissolving of Elements, or Disintegration which is what we do see the Black Goo can do and Certainly the Sacrificial Goo
Dissolution also also meaning the ending of a Agreement, a Partnership (Covenant) and so i think it fits in well with the Back Story for Prometheus, if these Engineers on LV-223 were indeed our Watchers, who look over us...
But something happens where they decide to No longer, look over us and scrap any agreement they had with their purpose for coming to Earth.
Also what ever Pact and Reason they had to do with the whole Creation/Evolution of Mankind, as far as the Sacrificial Goo and its Purpose and so they decide to USE this TOOL in a way that was not intended and use it on something related to the Xenomorph and thus created the Black Goo version which then leads to the downfall of those Engineers where it appeared many of them had dissolved to NOTHING...

MemberDeaconOct-02-2017 7:13 AMI think this is why some people was disappointed with AC and how it did not cover the Engineers, because when we got the name COVENANT i think a lot of us was wondering how can this name fit into the Franchise and Connections.
Because in broad Terms a Covenant is a Pact/Agreement between TWO parties (or more) and i think we may have been wondering what kind of Pacts/Agreements could be explored... or even the breaking of a Pact/Agreement.
In Biblical Terms, a Covenant is a Pact Between GOD and Mankind.
Sadly we never saw such a theme explored....
As for the Short it looks very nice, but i will watch it after when i find my headphones as i have my Speakers someplace i have not used for years... as the Monitor i had, had built in speakers... until it Died on me 5-6 Months ago.

I find your idea very strong.
