preferred David tbh but id still like to see a twist. im hoping David managed to convince Walter to join him and its either both of them on the covenant

I definitely want tp see Walter return.

I definitely don't want to see Walter's return. We are not talking about a freaking Star Trek episode. This is freaking Alien lol. There are much more compelling characters (not to mention full civilizations) that have been erased in the blink of an eye for plot convenience or in a commercial gamble; so why bring back Walter, a pretty blank canvas of a character. On top of that, I heard someone say that Walter was solely created to lure Fassbender back into the franchise, since he was not very enthusiastic about repeating the David role unless it represented some kind of challenge for him.

How lucky David was! Instead of a returning engineer ship he got the Covenant first. So he could practice martial arts on his own little brother. I doubt the second time he left Walter with anything repairable. But who can tell for sure?

I still cannot be sure if the AI on board the Covenant is wearing David's or Walter's body.

You make a good point.  Interesting to hear about luring Fassbender.  He's great in the Alien franchise and I'm sure he has other offers for other movies, so I guess I could believe there could have been a lure going on.  

Still, wouldn't Fassbender have to sign some kind of contract insuring he would do the sequels to the prequels he agreed to start if the story needed his role to continue?  I would imagine that is how it is normally done when a someone wants to make a series of movies and not just one.  That way they can guarntee their story.

I would certainly think Fassbender had signed some kind of Contract, this reduces the Potential Pay Hike that Miss Weaver kept having to be paid.  I think Rappace was also signed to a contract to be willing to appear in a sequel which i think its why she seemed disappointed in her role.

Looking at Walter/David....  I think its likely they have to appear WHOLE for these reasons.

*I cant see Fassbender playing a One Handed Robot for the Next movie, its logical a Ship with One Synthetic (when not a Secret one like ASH) would have Spare Parts, and so i think its likely David uses these at least to repair his hand, and who knows if he builds a New Body and Transfers his SOUL to it.  This touches up on the AI aspect and it also allows David to charade around as Walter, Fooling the other Colonist and allowing him to come up with some Valid excuse why the other Crew Died etc. While also gaining Full Control of MUTHUR

*I would safely Assume the Engineers do-not turn up shortly after David leaves as surely they could intercept him and destroy the Covenant with Ease... I assume they arrive a long time latter, well certainly allowing David to arrive at Origae-6 and Set up a Colony...   So we have to wonder can the Engineers Salvage anything from the Covenant Lander?  I doubt it, can they discover information from the crashed Juggernaught.. but this would lead them only to it coming from LV-223 not that David is off to Origae-6.

So unless David had time to write the Engineers a Invitation to Origae-6, i can only assume the Engineers get this information from Walter.

*Reading into RS comments, David is off to Origae-6 where a Colony may well be set up, and there are 3-4 incoming Parties which the Engineers are ONE the Company at some point would receive Davids Messages and so we can Safely Assume One Ship would be from the Weyland Yutani Company, the other Engineers and this leaves 1-2 other Parties... if this is again a Human Ship we have to wonder do these Ships have SYNTHETICS? If so would they be continuations of the David/Walter Lineage 

I would think it would be interesting to see a FEMALE SYNTHETIC thats a Synthetic Construct like Elden from Fire and Stone, and have her become infected to give us a Bio-Mechanical Queen.

Nice topic. I think when Engineers arrive at Planet 4, they will first find Walter's destroyed body in the hall of heads (God knows what David did to him) and take him for study, they will also find David's lab and a room with ovomorphs. From all this they will know humans were here, the juggernaut David and Shaw used to escape from LV-223 crashed far from the engineer city so the distress beacon Shaw sent might attract them and using holographic recording they will find out it was David who was responsible for genocide.

Boring, try to make better human characters that we can relate to. This was one of the problems with AC it was too much about robots and less about interesting human characters.

Walter worked well as a counterweight to David. It was interesting to see the differences between them. I don't think that they need to bring back Walter, if they shall have another android then let someone else play that part.

Did you like Walter? Yes, in the context of the movie.

Do you want to see him again? No

It could be a problem how to introduce him again so leave it. Try to make better human characters instead.

Regarding the 4 parties, I'm hoping for Rogue Engineers, Weyland-Yutani, Alphas/Elders and some indigenous life form that preys on the colonists. 

Some good points raised, and Thoughts_Dreams you are correct we need better Character use, and hopefully they understand that, which is why we wont be seeing any Chronological kind of Movie to Alien Covenant, like we never had with Prometheus...   There is not much you can do with David being alone on the Covenant ship for 7.5, years and then using his TWO Face Huggers on Daniels and Tennessee while the other Colonist are all asleep in Cryo-Sleep.   

What happens next?  David arrives at Origae-6 which we can SAFELY assume is uninhabited and then ONE by ONE he goes on to make Egg after Egg from the Colonist and waits for the company to arrive?

I have a feeling David will pose as Walter and set up the Colony, before we see David try and present himself as the KING of this New Colony, i think the Next Movie for the most part will be set in the Year 2114-2115

Regarding Walter, i think we are going to see David pretending to be Walter quite a lot..

And we have to wonder how the Engineers are able to discover where David was going, as there is NO Evidence left behind, not really apart from Walter, so i assume its from Walter that the Engineers are aware David is off to Origae-6

I wouldn't mind if they have a female AI, as far as I know Call is the only female AI that we have seen this far in the franchise. We have had Ash, Bishop, David, and Walter this far as male synthetics are concerned so there is room for a female robot.

Characters: Maybe they have not understood that enough this far but I hope that they do now so they will not disappoint us for a third time in a row. They should try to find some writer that is good at writing characters and that understands the sci-fi genre.

Exactly, that is why the ending of Alien Covenant was sort of strange because it was like "OK, where do they go from here?". Did they even think it through when they did the movie? That was another thing that was not that good about it.

This might be a stupid idea but you know how the police has some technology when they analyze finger prints when they shall solve crimes? Maybe there is some material there that was left over from the mission that the Engineers can use in some way to understand where they were going? Sci-fi is interesting because you can come up with so many scenarios and make up different explanations to why things happen so maybe they can come up with an answer to this that is at least somewhat rational and interesting. I am not sure how this would work in the movie but at least that is a idea that I have.

 i read a theory on this forum about a month ago that david inhabited walters programing and that david is in waltes body and davids body is still on planet 4
