MemberFacehuggerDec-26-2017 12:40 PMThank God. Alien Covenant was too perfect to have a sequel, so I welcome this news extremely well.
Upworth and Ricks must be left alone

MemberTrilobiteDec-26-2017 12:53 PMtrokamariel- Indeed, all the questions were answered and loose ends tightened. Nice, neat, tidy- perfection.

MemberChestbursterDec-26-2017 1:56 PMMaybe in 35 years that will find a good way to continue it.

MemberChestbursterDec-26-2017 2:13 PMI am surprised that you seem happy about it. covenant left off on a cliffhanger and now the franchise will be on ice for years.

MemberTrilobiteDec-26-2017 2:22 PMMaybe they could show some testicular fortitude and demand an installment that links directly to Alien.

MemberFacehuggerDec-26-2017 4:36 PMThe symbolism of Alien Covenant is too perfect and too important to have a sequel; I agree, that Covenant ended on a cliffhanger, but the ending doesn't have to be perceived that way.
David's victory can just be a victory, and besides, the symbolism of Upworth and Ricks deserves to prevent a sequel, and Oram, Karine and Faris are also characters who deserve to finish the franchise

MemberPraetorianDec-26-2017 7:32 PMThe source of the news story is weak.
This could be a way to get media attention for the sequel before a news release. Please post updates if there is an official word from Fox that the Alien: Covenant sequel is cancelled.
Thank you for the heads up Timmy the ultramorph.

MemberChestbursterDec-26-2017 8:01 PMThis report is just another confirmation that FOX cannot make up it's mind!!! If we got to wait 5 years like we did with the Prometheus sequel, well... that would just suck.
Honestly, I just want to see the end of the prequels story!! So what if it isn't a blockbuster! FOX NEEDS TO LET RIDLEY DO WHAT HE WANTS!!!! It is just one more movie!!!! Covenant didn't bomb! From the reports on this website, it sounded like FOX was all in for a sequel and in letting Ridley do what he wants. Now, a month later, they can any sequel from ever happening! This is all after they talked Ridley into changing Alien: Covenant into what it is!
I LOVED PROMETHEUS!!!! 9/10!!! For sure!!! It just has some flaws in it, yet I can see run time being an issue with those flaws.
It's hard being an Alien franchise fan it seems... Promises... Promises... Promises... seem to constantly get broken...
Still, I don't consider this news official. Still, we better get that sequel sooner than 5 years, like Prometheus's sequel.
Fox just needs to FINISH THE PREQUELS and JUST BE DONE WITH IT. Alien: Covenant isn't finished to me. There needs to be at least one more movie. Plus, since bonus footage for Alien: Covenant set up a sequel on top of the ending in A:C. I guess FOX doesn't care about the fans. It's the bottom line that matters.
This is just rude and frustrating. Couldn't Fox just give a limited budget to Ridley? The fans deserve one more! And it better come in less than 5 frickin' years!

MemberTrilobiteDec-26-2017 11:36 PMI think cooler heads should prevail at this point even though I am getting fired up. I saw another article stating- "According to reports, Fox has scrapped plans for Alien: Awakening though there hasn’t been any official confirmation on the news, aka this could just be rumours."
Click bait?

MemberNeomorphDec-27-2017 12:06 AMgood. postpone and take a step back and re-think the direction they want to go in. id rather wait 5 years and get a great movie than the franchise getting hit with another hit or miss prequel. take ur time and do it right rather than rush it I say.

MemberPraetorianDec-27-2017 12:23 AMtrokanmariel don't forget the symbolism of Ankor as Judas, without his actions on Paradise David's plot would have been undone and Ricks and Upworth damned.

MemberTrilobiteDec-27-2017 12:42 AMtrokanmariel Please explain/elaborate how and why Upworth's and Ricks' roles are so perfect to not warrant a sequel. Remember they were in a prequel. I found those characters quite forgettable and actually nothing more than Xeno fodder to be honest.

MemberNeomorphDec-27-2017 1:20 AMmost of the characters were forgettable. I get the biblical symbolism connections in Prometheus but I don't see many in AC. its about David creating organisms and the crew giving him material to experiment on.

MemberChestbursterDec-27-2017 5:58 PMwitch ones even are upworth and ricks?I don't remember them at all

MemberFacehuggerDec-27-2017 6:29 PMOne burning question that needs to be answered is why, in the time of Alien, the ultimate fashion crime of pink piping on shirt collars and pockets was committed. Also, why was the ‘turbulence’ graphic being shown when Kane’s body was being jettisoned in deep space? It’s a mystery with no end.

MemberChestbursterDec-28-2017 7:59 AMwell i loved the franchise. for all its imperfections i overlooked. maybe it is time to forget about progresttion. Those 100s and 100s of hours researching Engineer Mythos from scraps of clues (and some good ones) were enjoyable but wasted.
Oh well, someone will make the Engineer story of creation - just using different names and ideas. After all it was one hell of an idea. wasted.
Take This.... This is the blood of our lord
